Aleppo, Syria.

The ancient city of Aleppo is one of the oldest cities in the world and was once a major hub of trade in the Mediterranean region. It was at a time an endpoint of the famous silk road which ran through much of central Asia.

The cities rich history is reflected in much of its architecture. Buildings, which characterised many of the city's ruling empires and changing eras, survive till the modern day. This made the city one of the well-preserved historic sites in the Mediterranean and in the world at large.

At one time, it received many visitors from the Islamic world and indeed many scholars from the greater globe.
