"Did you actually pay that guy to get us in quicker?" Joon-won asked as they entered a dimly lit hallway, with the distant lights at the end flickering enticingly. The thunderous roar of cheers and shouts echoed from beyond, more raucous than anything he remembered from his past life.

Mo Yang laughed, shaking his head. "Pay him? No way. If it were just about money, people would be tossing cash left and right, turning it into some sort of bidding war. Tonight's party has a bit of an inside track. The guy at the door? His dad manages this pub. I told him I was here for his son's party, and voilà, here we are. These connections matter, Joon-won.
