Chapter 62: You trust me?
As the concrete slabs moved around the room, a large doorway opened up on the far side, and a blue glow began to spill coat the floor in light. A dark, ominous fooling crept in on the children as they all stopped what they were doing and looked at each other with confused expressions.
"What is it now?" The scrawny boy complained about the interruption, but by the look that appeared on the brown-haired boy's face, the door opening up just saved his life, yet he was ungrateful since he thought he had a fighting chance.
"I guess they want us to go this way." The brown-haired boy said in a monotone voice and walked past everyone out into the new room.
"Huh?" Upon hearing the commotion, Sam's son opened his eyes and took a few glances around at all of the people lining up to leave the room before looking back at Kalon to see if he had noticed too. But just as he was about to let him know that they were supposed to be going, He looked over at the boy with midnight blue hair who was also still sitting with his back against the wall and circulating his Qi.
'Whatever, I guess they aren't really forcing us to leave.' He thought before deciding not to move and closing his eyes again to focus on absorbing all of the Qi, now that they were in a beneficial situation, with the flow of Qi being much more potent than it was in the outside world.
Just as all of the children had stepped outside and into the next room, the doors closed once again with a faint feeling of motion beneath them as the concrete box seemingly moved through the air.
Kalon remained unaffected, with his mind being entirely focused on recalling the mantra in his head to maximise the profits of absorbing so much Qi. When he looked at the other children his age, he could tell that they all had higher cultivation stages than him, But not a single one of them gave him a feeling of fear, so he still felt confident that he could beat them all, Apart from one person who stood out from the rest.
The boy with midnight blue hair and dark amethyst coloured eyes awoke from his deep concentration and looked around as the room began to shake lightly. As he looked around, he noticed that most of the other children had disappeared apart from two.
One who remained seated with his eyes closed. And another with a worried expression on his face.
"Hey you, What's going on?" He asked Sam's son with a menacing glare that said that he was up to no good. Sam had taught his son to avoid people who had scary looks to them, so he thought about outright ignoring him and letting someone else answer. But as he realised that there was no one else around to answer, he soon felt a lump at the back of his throat.
The boy with blue hair continued to stare at him as an extreme tension grew within the air and disrupted the flow of Qi in the room. Kalon felt the disturbance and opened his eyes to see a small showdown between the two other boys in the elevator and a little in the way like he was distracting them from fighting or something.
Back at home, fighting was how people would settle disagreements, so he didn't think much of it as he got to his feet and gave them a little bit of space so they could fight when Sam's son called out.
"Hey, where are you going!? We are still trapped in here." He spoke with a confused expression as he tried to think of any possible reason as to why Kalon would stand up and move away from the two of them, but his questions were soon answered as Kalon turned back around.
"Aren't you two going to fight? I thought I might as well give you some space since I wouldn't want to be caught up in between." Kalon said with an expression that told the two of them that he thought that was how things worked. But for both of them, it seemed to be an unusual thought since they both looked at him with confusion until the boy with dark blue hair spoke up.
"I don't want to fight anyone. I just wanted to know what was happening, that's all. I don't know what's happening, and it feels like I am wasting my time in here. We should have arrived at a different place. But for some reason, we ended up on the first floor." The blue-haired boy said with a look of worry on his face.
Kalon looked at him for a few moments with just as much confusion as he was currently experiencing before Sam's son quickly added up what he meant by that sentence.
"It was supposed to go somewhere else, but it ended up on the first floor? Does that mean you have been here before?" Sam's son asked with a look of suspicion like he suspected that he was up to nothing good but felt surprised as he heard the responses.
"Well, yeah. This is my second time trying to enrol. Last time I was eliminated, so they told me to come back some other time." He bragged a little about the first time he had gone to Frisson academy to enrol but was rejected once already. Kalon had seemed to judge the situation wrong and felt a little embarrassed that he had jumped to conclusions about what was going on and then quickly decided to sit back down.
"Sorry, I thought I was interrupting something. I didn't mean to offend either of you. So you know some things about the test that we will be taking, huh? What's your name?" Kalon asked with an innocent-looking smile on his face.
"My name? My name is Micah Satis." The boy with midnight blue hair replied as he thought for a few moments and stuttered when thinking of his name. But Kalon didn't think anything of it and looked back at Sam's son for a moment before turning back to look at Micah.
"So, Micah. Can you tell us about the type of test this is? I don't know why but I feel like I can trust you." Kalon smiled once again, which got him a strange look from both of them for the second time since he opened his eyes.
'He trusts him? Did he not see the eyes that he was giving me? Those were the eyes of a killer, and yet he trusts him?' Sam's son thought as he looked at Kalon and listened to what he said.
"You trust me? Then, in that case, I can tell you a little bit." Micah smiled too, but just as expected, his smile seemed a little too forced and almost creepy and gave Sam's son a nauseous feeling. But Kalon didn't seem to care about it as he sat patiently and listened to what Micah had to say.
