Audrey. Audrey? "How can I help, damsel?” The words lose their insolence as Audrey tuts them quietly, sounding almost afraid. I pushed down the urge to roll my eyes. Dramatic cow. What are they talking about? I ask.
“It’s the truth,” she tuts, her voice stronger. “But I’m not too sure how it works.” What? How come I never knew of this?
She doesn’t utter a single word. An ire rose up in me at her silence and unhelpful secrecy.
I learned the hard way to keep my emotions in check. So, even if I’m annoyed, I smile, shaking myself from the internal argument.
“Good for me then.” My magic is like a familiar and warm companion to me. Unleashing my energy felt like riding green clouds of joy, all jubilant and invincible. I couldn’t imagine what I would be without my magic.
I have never been a great multitasker, and I’m not risking it now, so I wordlessly dropped the matter... for now.
