Chapter 93: The lost fire

"Leader, did you talk to the mayor?" Bernard immediately asked.

Baxter nodded. "Yes."

"So did he agree that we will not continue the mission?"

Baxter looked at him. "The mission will continue."

"Eh?"

Bernard and the others were stunned. They did not expect what they heard. The rest of their companions suddenly turned in the direction of their leader.

Bernard turned to the man with the ax weapon next to their leader. He saw his head nod.

"Eh? How did that happen?" 

Bernard asked in haste.

"I'll explain, but before that, how's Claire?"

Jem noticed the sudden frown on the face of the person Baxter was talking to and he even slightly lowered his gaze upon hearing his question.

"The doctor is still looking into her condition. It looks like some of her internal organs have been affected so it is difficult for the doctor to treat her properly," Bernard replied with a downcast face.
