Chapter 404: Her Firsts

She dug into the floor with a sharp stick in her hand. Her palm was bleeding from the friction. Her eyes teared up, not used to such labour. 

Despite the struggle, she couldn't stop. She needed to get water for Malik. Her forehead was soon drenched in sweat by the time she was done digging. 

A smile broke through her tired features. Finally, she had dug deep enough to obtain water. She stood up not minding the dirt that had stained her clothes. 

Her feet rushed back to check on Malik, a newfound hope glinting in her orbs. However, her feet gave up on her when she saw the man lying motionless on the ground. 

Yasmin tried to stand without any success. She gave up trying and crawled towards the man. Her trembling hand settled on his pulse. 

Her erratic beating heart calmed then. Even so, she let the tears fall. His skin was slowly changing in colour. His body had turned cold as ice with his lip almost blue.
