Chapter 20: Chapter Eighteen

He kept an arm around her as they walked into his house, both her arms around his midline, her chhek pressed to his side.

She took in the space of his living room. He’d added a few additions since the last time she came. A fuzzy warm mat, a peach flowervase, some paintings that depicted nature, some throw pillows, giving the palour a cozy feel. She liked it, and told him as much.

“ i’m glad you do,” he said in reply, “but i’m not finished, i’m not just sure whar else to add, still waiting for it to come to me.” She nodded, understanding. He led heer to a couch and sat beside her,

“ would you like me to get you anything, apple juice? “ He knew she favoured apple juice.

“ okay, that will do.” he nodded, got up, “ let me get a vase for these,” he said, referring to the bouquet of flowers, making her smile.

When he made his way to the kitchen, she rubbed her hands together. She felt like a school girl on her first date, “ Dear God, please help me.” she whispered.
