Chapter 4: upgrades people, upgrades

It's been two weeks since I was reincarnated into this world. And based on my recent experiences id say it's all downhill from here. After that first batch of adventurers came down here I've fought over 58 others off. Yeah the XP gain was good but mental fatigue is still something that can affect me.

Currently I'm lvl 12, my soft cap.

I managed to get nature magic up to level 6 after using it a bunch and even gained new skills.

Vine Whiplash lvl. 3

Able to convert mana into strong vines which can act as whips.

Lvl up further to unlock hidden functionality.

Thorn bush lvl. 2

Able to summon a dead thorn bush which can surround a target.

Deals bleed damage for 12 seconds after use.

-4 hp per second.

Lvl up further to unlock hidden functionality.

I also gained new skills for my other Magic.

Hydro strike lvl. 5

Able to coat your body in magically charged water to increase melee damage.

+10% damage when used together with actual water magic.

Lvl up further to unlock hidden functionality.

Rock bullet lvl 10

Able to summon small round rocks that can be launched at incredible speeds.

Lvl up further to unlock hidden functionality.

Once you reach a certain lvl with a kind of magic you have a chance to automatically unlock skills. Other times you just gain a skill from getting creative like my stone bullets.

Oh and before I forget here are my current stats.

Status

Type:spirit

Body: dirt golem /enhanced/ (F- rank core)

Vitality. 146

Strength. 180

Endurance. 220

Agility. 46

Intelligence. 312

Spirit power. 560

Charm. 4

I think I should divulge the information I've discovered about how stats work in this world. The physical ones are vitality, strength, and endurance. Vitality is how much damage your body can receive before you die. Strength further increase you health value as well as making you stronger and letting you deal more damage. Endurance is your stamina, even though I'm a golem and can't get tired some skills actually use up endurance to function as well as mana.

Then comes the magic stats...

Intelligence, spirit power, and charm.

Intelligence doesn't actually make you smarter.... well not entirely. Once it reaches a certain lvl you can get passive skills that evolve the higher the stat gets. Like my Great memory (passive skill). It is also responsible for the amount and strength of the mana you have is. Spirit power can be used as a supplement for mana but its incredibly weak. 100 spirit power equals 1 mana. Spirit power basically means how strong my spirit is and again you get skills the higher it gets. I ended up getting the skill

spiritualist lvl. Max

Since your are a spiritual being you have power that transcends this physical reality.

Yeah... I have no idea what it does either.

The last stat I have is my charm stat. I'll assume it does make me more attractive but the system told me it has a more practical use. The higher this stat is, the stronger your AoE and daze attacks/skills are. It also increases your defense against mental dampening magic spells.

Now based on my stats and skills you'd think I'm quite strong right??? WRONG!

I'm actually weak, I'm still classified as an F rank monster and will be until I become lvl 30.

The reason I managed to beat those adventurers was because they were F- rank humans. The weakest sentient creatures in all the landn( Even weaker than your average goblin). As I kept fighting the intruders off the rank of this dungeon kept getting higher so they started sending stronger opponents in. Now that I've reached my physicals form limit the only things that can get stronger are my int and Sp stats as well as my skills. But that's not enough. Eventually they're gunna send some dudes stronger than me here and I'll die for reals this time. I asked the system some stuff and found out that the only way for me to get stronger is to upgrade my spirit core or my body. A spirit core is the physical manifestation of my soul. It's completely different from the golem core I'm currently in.

Spirit energy isn't like mana, it's a constant stat that can only be reduced by strong spirit magic.

For example, let's say my golem core gets destroyed. My spirit (if it's strong enough) will have a little time left to exist before its dissipates and returns to the universe. I have two options, I either enter another golem core or manifest myself in a physical spirit core. The spirit core generated will always be as strong as the rank you have. I can do this an indefinite amount of times almost instantly which makes me very hard to kill.... for those weaker than me of course. Also what ever rank golem core I enter will automatically be upgraded to the level of my spirit core at the cost of a little mana. So instead of me wasting time and resources to increase my golem core I'll just train my spirit instead.

now that that's out of the way I have some good news... me being this weak isn't a problem. My master is an alchemist with high lvl golem making skills. Me being stronger than most was just considered lucky. I've been officially designated as the floor 1 guardian now so I no longer have to stand in front of that door. I have my own quarters and was given control over all of floor ones golems. The system automatically picked up on this and gave me an rts style game console to do with them as I wish. The first thing I wanted to do with all 23 golems on this floor was make them stronger. Thankfully there's a little loophole I found that'll help me do just that. I gain xp and lvl up even if I were to lose or run from a fight. So all I have to do is make them fight each other and teach them earth magic to further secure my floor from intruders. Before I do that I'll need somewhere for them to train ( —I'm just looking for an excuse to decorate) and lvl up.

Using my lvl 10 basic earth magic I create a huge 500 square meter room with an elevated stone slab in the middle. The higher the quality of the fight the better the gains.

I set all my golems to fight until they all reach their current soft cap, lvl 7 and reach lvl 3 earth magic. Since the whole floor is currently unguarded and because I have nothing better to do I decide to go to the entrance. It's just a square hole that leads inside of a mountain. I didn't like the appearance at all and since it was connected to my floor it needed a make over. It was given a dome cutout roof being held up by huge pillars. And was made out of stone ,with my current earth magic I can even manipulate and control stone... it requires more mana than regular dirt. Now that that's finished I'll go down the hall and to the left then wait right at the turn. Now time to do what I've wanted to for quite a while.... upgrading my spirit rank. The only way to do this is activate every last drop of spirit energy you have until it gets refined and ranks up. Once I do this I'll get a rank F+ core and my lvl cap will be raised to the aforementioned soft cap of lvl 30.

The whole process takes around 4 hours to complete and was really tiresome. My stamina was zero once I finished the process.

Thankfully my golem core became rank F+ as well like the system said, which further increased my stats.

Status

Type: spirit

Body: dirt golem //MAXED// ( F+ rank core )

Vitality. 147–> 153

Strength. 180–> 200

Endurance. 210–> 230

Agility. 80–> 100

Intelligence. 300–> 500

Spirit power. 560–> 1,100

Charm. 4–> 7

Now I won't have to worry about being destroyed, at least for a little while.

Another 3 days have passed and my golems all became lvl 7

With earth and water magic at lvl 3.

They are all still just weak mob monsters but now I won't have to gaurdthe whole place by myself. My next order of business is to reach my current lvl soft cap, the same goes for my skills. I can't wait to fight with my new stats... this'll be fun!
