Chapter 60: End Of The Meeting
As I saw the blood on Anael's lips immediately move towards him.
"Is he okay Shemer?"
"It's just the backlash of getting the demonic energy out of his body."
The others look at Anael with great concern. Even though they often tease each other, they are greatly concerned about each other as they grew up together and incredibly rely on each other's back.
Aleksio and Olek seem to have been discussing how to get rid of the contaminated meat without alerting the people.
A panic will happen and also we could alert the culprits. We must move cautiously because a lot of people could get hurt. And there is still the disease that's been spreading.
I saw Lexine pick up her courage and move towards Shemer and Anael. I could see a great concern in her eyes as she looks at her cousin.
"S-sire, is my cousin gonna be alright?" She nervously asked.
"Oh! A Vedette! You are little Lexy's heir? You don't have to worry about your cousin. You can just give him medicine to replenish his mana." He cheerfully said.
"Thank you, sir." She then bows her head and pulls something from her bag.
Mana core. If children don't have their mana core they cannot practice magic. This world's magic source comes from the individual mana core.
As for the blessings that came from the gods, they are bestowed on the ones chosen by the gods themselves.
It is their gift to mankind and a testament to their divine powers, and more powers may be granted if mankind proves themselves to be worthy enough.
Unfortunately, some demons can manipulate people, especially those who harbor darkness in their hearts are vulnerable to demons' temptations.
From time to time, the demons will pit the followers of the gods against each other by whispering promises of greater powers and wealth.
Some are looking for ways to please the gods in an attempt to gain more powers, but so far, none have managed beyond the main characters in myths and legends.
Maybe this is the Arch Strain's goal for abducting those people who have blessings.
"Eugh- wow! I feel fatigued all over my body." Anael said after Shemer finally finish expelling the demonic energy.
"Here. You drink it." Lexine handed him a bottle with a blue liquid inside.
"Thank you, cousin." He smiled and open the cap and downed the whole bottle.
"Shemer, is he already cured?" I ask Shemer.
"Yes, master. I have fully expelled all the demonic energy inside his body."
"Shemer, I think we have to go and investigate how contaminated meat has been distributed in the market," I explained.
"But your parents and brothers will not permit you to go outside. Especially if they knew what your reason is."
"That's why we are gonna sneak out without them noticing."
"OH! I got it, master. Let me go back to your room so that I can prepare." He then bowed and teleported away.
"Little Evie, where did Shemer go? I haven't said my gratitude to him for healing me."
Anael said as he jog in front of me.
"I think he will go back to his patrol, big brother Anael."
"Is that so? Well, maybe I can meet him later after we finish our meeting."
"Anael, little Evie, come here and sit down. We still have to continue the meeting."
"Coming, big brother Aleksandro."
"Come on, little Evie. They are calling us." Anael then offered his hands to me.
As we sat down they help me to sit back on my chair and ruffled my hair.
"Anael, are you feeling okay?" Aleksio inquired.
"I'm feeling fine now. Honestly, I was very shocked to find out that contaminated meat has been distributed."
I understand what he means. The empire has strict regulations when it comes to health and food.
"I have already told the merchant guild to halt the distribution of the meat since I found about this." Aleksio insured.
"But still, there are some that have been given to the vendors. Some people may be already be infected." Alessia uttered while fidgeting her fingers.
"I have already issued a command to the health department to check all the vendors and the people that have bought the meat." Aleksio continued.
"Did you inform father about this, brother?" Aleksandro inquired.
"Yes, as well as grandfather and uncle."
"I did not see you leave brother Aleksio. How did you do it?" I curiously ask.
"When Shemer was healing Anael, I have contacted father."
"I see," I replied while nodding.
Maybe I did not notice since I was focused on Shemer and Anael.
"Now we have to finish this meeting because we have so many things to do and I am gonna assign everyone a task regarding the contaminated meat and the diseases that have been spreading."
Aleksio then assigned everyone their task except for Iskender, Wymund, and me, as we are still too young to do something.
"Aleksandro, big brother Sanyi, the two of you will go together with Anael to locate the spies inside their mansion and eliminate them without alerting the enemy."
"Can I ask if we also have to eliminate the spies inside Olek and Lexus houses?" Anael said while licking his lips.
His aura was completely different. He was oozing with a bloodthirsty aura around him.
"Of course, but do it silently."
"Understood." Anael then saluted.
Wow! These guys must be doing this for a long time that they don't even flinch talking about killing someone.
"Olek, Lexus, and Skylur you guys go to the adventurer's guild and ask about the condition of the guys who first showed symptoms of the diseases."
"Got it," Olek replied.
Alik and Liam, I want the two of you to search any remaining Arch Strain spies that have been lurking around the empire."
"You can count on us, Crown prince," Liam responded.
"Now Iskender, Wymund, and little Evie. I want you guys to stay inside for now. It is not safe to go around the town for now as a disease is spreading and it especially infects children. Do you understand?" Aleksio said.
"Your also a child, big brother." Wymund innocently said while blinking his big, round eyes.
"But we have proper training and you guys don't. I want you guys to protect little Evie. Can you do that?"
"Of course you can leave it to me cousin," Wymund replied confidently.
"Iskender, I trust that you will guard your younger siblings while your older brother is not around." Aleksio looks straight at Iskender.
"I understand cousin," Iskender replied seriously.
While Aleksio nods his head, he secretly winks at me. I then smiled at him and nodded.
I can say that Aleksio has great leadership skills and handles giving commands to his subordinates with ease.
