Chapter 9: 9. Funds.
I learned my lesson. Currently I was healing my eardrums as I had thought it was a wise idea to cast Thundaga on a single goblin, in an enclosed space.
It was like a bomb had gone off, static charged my entire body, the clap of lightning blew out my eardrums as multiple leg sized bolts of lightning obliterated the poor goblin, even destroying the poor magic core which was the biggest loss today. It was like Thor himself had descended on that poor goblin and just shit all over his day with the mightiest strike of lightning he could.
That sound was heard through the entire first floor of the dungeon apparently and even echoed outside. Took about 1/10th of my magic for the spell too. I shudder to think what Thundaja would do or if i would live through that.
Getting up with Cura my ears were fully healed and I could balance now, I just needed to clean the blood out of my ears and get the hell outta here.
I sent a small prayer towards the pile of ash before heading off to find some more goblins, I would probably hear about this later from Rose.
"Ah dammit."
Making sure I collect my 20 magic crystals for the day I head back to the guild.
"What happened to you?" Rose asks with narrowed eyes.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I ask confused.
"Theres blood on your neck and shirt, your ears have been bleeding and I can smell it it. I'm a werewolf after all. Plus you kind of smell like fresh rain?" She asks confused. "Now tell me what happened!" She demands.
"Shhhh! I might have cast some lightning magic on a goblin and blown out my eardrums by mistake, don't worry they are healed." I quickly shush her and explain the situation.
"Lightning magic?! You can do magic?!" She asks quickly.
"Yes, now shhh." i try to shut her up.
"Do you know how rare it is for a level 0 to be able to use magic. Wait a minute were you the one who caused that explosion on the first floor?" she asks quietly.
"Yeah, it was an accident i didn't think it would be that loud and i was like at ground zero. As you can tell i paid for it with my eardrums which i had to heal." I tell her quickly.
"Do you know how rare healing magic is? If anyone knew, familia would fight to get their hands on you." She says.
"No I don't, then let's stop talking before someone overhears and causes me problems." I hiss at her. "Now can you exchange these, also how much is a place to live, I can't keep staying at the inn." I pass her my magic crystals.
"You could just go to the slums and find an abandoned house like the rest of the homeless do." She says stiffly counting out my Vali and handing them to me. I tuck them with the rest of my funds into my pouch.
"Take it buying a plot of land is out of the question?" I ask with a sigh.
"A decent one yes, couple hundred thousand Vali at least." She says. "Any lower than that and you risk getting your house robbed or having a place that's falling in on itself for a home."
That isn't ideal at all. I'm only making like 2000 vali a day, 100 goes for a room each night then some for food if I feel like eating.
Feels like I'm moving incredibly slowly.
Maybe spend an entire day down in the dungeon and not explode myself with magic. Might help.
Get myself a back pack, swap to my cloak and keep my sword stored away until I need it, should be effective. Anyone fucks with me hit them with a Thundaga and shit all over their lives.
"What's your plan?" Rose asks snapping a finger in front of my face.
"Thinking of spending a full day in the dungeon earn a bit more money." Might even try out a dagger see how that performs, however I wouldn't want to break the one I have for carving out magic crystals. Try out my monster forms? And get slaughtered by passing gaurds, no thanks.
"Hey quit being dazed when I'm talking to you." Rose says snapping her fingers in my face.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" I ask.
"I was saying you should wait until you find a familia, I'll have the information ready by tomorrow then you can do go back into the dungeon, besides the gaurds are investigating that explosion on the first floor." She tells me with a raised eyebrow.
"I see." Sighing I rub my head. "Alright we can decide tomorrow." don't really feel like being questioned by the gaurds and dragged off for being a suspicious person with no familia. More than likely that would happen.
"Go explore the city, just stay away from the slums. Place is filled with robbers." Rose advises. "Besides you just got here a couple of days ago and all you do is worry about the dungeon, spend some time to relax."
"Alright alright, I'll go look around." Nothing better to do anyway.
Making sure I've got all my things I head out of the guild to look around the city. Going to go pick up another backpack, worst case I just use normal thunder to kill goblins and then harvest the crystals after that.
Man reincarnation is hard, how are normal people even living in this place...well probably with familia and by doing other jobs. All my fucking templates were combat related, the best I got that wasn't combat related was gun smithing from Vincent.
I mean how much can you really take from your previous life into a new world like this. Mother fuckers in stories making rocket ships with rocks and shit, fucking liars! Probably can't even put their pants on right let alone do rocket science.
