Chapter 25: Goodbye, Kira and Thank you, Herro
Kira blushed after Herro said those things. Her mom and dad stared at her, and they had a disbelieving look in their eyes. They couldn't believe that their lovely daughter had the guts to hurt a person and nearly killing them. Her parents concluded it because Herro was a good man, but they also believe that there was a story behind it.
"Mom! Dad! Listen to me first. I was in a room sleeping in a sleeping bag, and Herro thought that it was a garbage bag, and he kicked it to vent his anger. That kick hit my head, and in my anger, I also kicked him, but I didn't know that he was not an Enhanced."
Before Kira could continue, her mom interrupted her and asked her, "Enhanced? What is that?"
"It was the humans injected with the perfected version of the Body Enhancement Serum. I am also injected with the perfected version and was able to acquire skills from it. The skill allowed me to pass through things. But it consumes my stamina, so I can only use it limitedly." Her mother and father had already lost their minds when the perfected of the Body Enhancement Serum was made.
Her mother and father were injected with the first version of Body Enhancement Serum, and it was the cause of their demise. The Body Enhancement Serum injected into them had turned them into mutants instead of enhancing their immune system, protecting them from evolved bacteria and viruses.
Then Kira continued her story: "I know this sounds unbelievable, but Herro said he was a time traveler, and he came from the year 2021—a millennium ago! I just decided to believe in him because he had an overpowered skill, even without being injected with the Body Enhancement Serum. "
Her Mom and Dad smiled at Kira warmly. When Herro saw their smiles, he was forced to look away. He found their smiles somewhat creepy since they had inhuman faces.
"Kira, our consciousness is starting to fade. It would be best if you killed us while we are still in our right minds. I didn't know how you were able to do this magic but thank you, Herro, for letting us talk to our daughter for the last time." Kira's dad said.
Kira felt that she was the happiest person on earth and, at the same time, was the saddest person alive. She was happy because she was able to talk with her parents, but she knew it would be the last time because the effect of Herro's skill that was transferred to her would vanish soon.
Kira's mom patted Kira's head and then said, "We will be put at rest if we died at your hands, Kira. No, dying is not the right term, but saving should be. Please save us, Kira, free us from this suffering. We didn't want to hurt people, and we do not want to hurt someone anymore. And please, if you happen to encounter a mutant, please let them rest. We knew that they're also suffering." Kira was now crying while hugging her parents.
Herro's tears were also flowing out of his eyes. Then he remembered something, and it was about his Absorption skill.
"Ma'am, Sir, I have this skill called absorption, and I can absorb the corpse of a creature and absorb their skills and stats that were higher than mine. But I can also transfer the effect towards another target. I already used this technique to save Kira from dying." Herro paused momentarily and looked at the faces of Kira's parents.
Herro wiped his tears and sighed. Then he continued his explanation: "Then Ma'am, Sir, do you want Kira to you? I think it will be the greatest burial I can give you, and it will also be a great help for Kira."
Kira's mom and dad looked at each other, and then both of them let out a deep, long sigh.
Kira stared at Herro and nodded. She was really grateful to Herro after everything she did for her.
"Then please help us, Herro. We wanted to be with our lovely daughter and protect her. And please always be by her side. We are now giving you our blessings." Her mom said, and her words are filled with seriousness.
Kira has no time to refute what her mother had said, and she just let her say what she wants. Herro nodded and said, "I'll promise you, Ma'am and Sir, that I will protect your daughter with my life and save her whenever she is in danger."
After Herro said this, Kira's mom and dad nodded at him warmly. Then something serious happened next.
It was so sudden, Kira's mom and dad roared without any warning while clutching their heads, and from the looks of it, they're in pain.
"Mom! Dad! What is happening?!" Kira was already panicking after seeing what was happening to her parents.
"Our consciousness is fading, Kira. Please finish us." Kira's dad said while clutching his head.
Her mom also nodded towards her, asking her to do what they ask her to do.
"I can't do it! I won't do it! What if we quarantine you guys here, and we will find a solution in the future?" Tears continuously flowing from Kira's eyes.
Tears also flowing out of Herro's eyes. The scene he was watching was theatrical, and he really felt pity towards Kira and her parents. He knew what he needed to do, but he didn't want to interrupt them.
He also knew how long the Ultimate Scented Body's remaining duration, based on the intensity of the scent Kira was exuding. It was expiring, and its effect was unable to maintain their desire towards Kira, allowing them to think rationally.
"You need to do it now, Kira. We won't be able to rest if you killed us after we lost our consciousness." Kira's dad said while tears were also flowing out of his eyes.
Kira shook her head. She couldn't bear to kill her parents with her own hands. When Herro saw this, he wiped the tears in his eyes and inhaled deeply, and exhaled it in his mouth with force. It was his way to ease his nervousness and to calm his head down.
Then he said, "Ma'am, Sir, I don't want to see Kira blaming herself for the rest of her life by killing her parents. And it was you who told me to protect Kira, and I will protect her with that future." Then Herro paused momentarily and looked at Kira, and then smiled at her.
After giving Kira a look, Herro continued, "I don't care if she will hate me with this, but please let me put you guys at rest. If Kira blames me for the rest of her life, I'm fine with it. I don't want to see her suffer for the rest of her life by blaming herself."
He was bowing his head the whole time. He was asking someone to die by his hand, and it was hard for him to look at their face while saying those words.
Kira was so shocked by what she had heard. Kira's mom and dad looked at each other and then nodded.
"Our decision was right to leave Kira to you. Please take care of her. We didn't want her to blame herself for the rest of her life because she killed us with her own hands." Kira's dad had started walking towards Herro, who was two meters away from them.
When Kira's dad reached Herro, he tapped his shoulder with his big hands. It was a common action for men if they wanted to entrust something to another man. "We were just testing you, and we are now rest assured that we are entrusting Kira to a brave man that won't make her suffer." Herro felt the warmth surges to his heart. Tears slowly fell from his eyes.
Kira's mom and dad were again, for the second time, clutching their heads from pain. And aside from clutching their heads, they're also howling. It was clear that the effect of the Ultimate Scented Body that was transferred to Kira was expiring.
"Mom! Dad! Please don't go!" It was as if there was a dam inside of Kira that was filled with tears. She was crying for some time, and she hasn't stopped at all.
"Herro, please hurry." Asked Kira's mom.
Then Herro activated his claws. His slender finger instantly transformed into steel blades. Then Kira saw Herro's action and shielded her parents from him. Herro stopped in his tracks after seeing Kira's action and said, "Please don't make it hard for us, Kira. Please step aside."
Kira knew that it was the right thing to do and it was what her parents wanted, but she was still reluctant about the fact that her parents were leaving her so soon after reuniting.
"Kira, p-please." Kira's mom said while clutching her head from pain. From the looks of it, their consciousness will leave them, and they will be back in their Mutant's minds.
Kira stepped aside while still crying. Her mom and dad smiled, and even though their smiles looked weird since they're Mutants, Herro didn't find it disturbing at all.
"Goodbye, Kira, and thank you, Herro." It was the last thing that the Constantine couple said at the same time. It was full of mixed emotions. Herro felt his heart broke, but he couldn't back out now.
Then he used his two claws to pierce Kira's parents in the heart, and after he pierced them, he crushed their hands by clutching them.
And while Kira's parents died by Herro's hands, the Ultimate Scented body that was transferred to her had also expired.
Chapter 26: System, do you know what love is?
Kira felt her world shattered in front of her eyes. Her parents, who she missed so much, died in front of her and she couldn't help them at all.
It was as if her whole strength had escaped her body, and she slumped down just like a marionette that has its strings cut.
Tears also fell from Herro's eyes. He couldn't help but cry silently as he killed Kira's parents with his own hands.
After he crushed their hearts, he felt the urge to vomit out of disgust even though he had killed four Mutants before. He couldn't help but feel this way because it wasn't just a simple Mutants killed this time.
For him, they were humans with just a hideous costume. And also, they were the parents of his companion, which is why he feels disgusted.
He suddenly runs about a few meters away from Kira and her parents. He dropped down to his knees and started to vomit everything he has in his stomach. Herro couldn't remove the feeling of disgust so easily, but vomiting helps him to lighten it.
Kira was frozen while being slumped on the floor. Tears flowing in her eyes, but her expression was that of shock. Her eyes are wide because of the inconceivability of the scene that happened in front of her eyes.
Her expression changed when she saw Herro ran away and suddenly vomited. She thought that it was not just her who feels miserable. It was also hard for Herro to do this thing.
She said to herself that she shouldn't continue weeping and accept things. Although it was not easy to accept things as it is. But she needs to strengthen her guts in order to live on. If she wants to survive in this world, she needs to be strong, stronger than ever.
After Herro calms down from vomiting, he walks towards Kira while holding his stomach. Herro was feeling the emptiness of his stomach, and yet he has no appetite to eat.
When he reached where Kira is, he sat down beside her and grabbed her hand. "You're not alone from now on, Kira. I will always be by your side, and I will protect you with my whole life. I will even turn back the time to save you."
Herro was looking at the ceiling as he said those things. He didn't want Kira to see him getting embarrassed over those words.
"I won't hate you or leave you if ever you blamed me for your parent's death. I will accept your anger and wrath. Even if you chase me away, I will still follow you. Even if I had to do it secretly, I will. I won't disappoint your parents and you."
Kira felt her heart was melting from hearing Herro's words. She was not able to hold back her tears, and she started to weep while she loudly wailed while hugging Herro so tightly.
The frustrations, uneasiness, anger, regrets, and all the things she was hiding in her heart had burst out, and they slowly vanish along with her tears.
Herro's tears were also falling from his eyes. He felt his heart had warmed so suddenly, and he was unsure what is the reason behind it.

[Answer: Love? Isn't that what you felt for Kira?]
After reading the blue panel in front of his eyes, he felt embarrassed, and he blushed.
He wanted to refute, but he couldn't find words to support his stand. All that is left to him is the question, [Do I really love her?]
He started to think back to when they first met, the time when Kira nearly killed him. Although it was some kind of misunderstanding, Kira still gave him the pill that cured his wounds, and that pill was Kira's life-saving trump card.
Kira nearly died due to the Mutant's attack because of him. If Kira had that pill, she would survive on her own.
Even though it was just a short time that they're together, but they have gone through a life and death situation, making their relationship stronger.
Herro took a long time thinking about what he really feels for Kira. Kira was weeping loudly in Herro's lap.
A long time had passed, and Kira stopped weeping on Herro's lap, and she was wiping her eyes.
Then Herro took the opportunity to ask Kira, "Hey, Kira... Will you let me stay by your side from now on?" Herro said while still looking at the ceiling, hiding the embarrassment on his face.
Kira was taken aback when she heard what Herro had said to her. She didn't say anything, but she leaned towards Herro and kissed him on his cheeks.
Herro felt that the world had stopped turning and the clocks stopped ticking. He can feel that everything had stopped at that moment when Kira's lips had touched his cheeks.
All he could hear is his heart beating loudly and as if it will jump out of his mouth anytime soon. The way he sees his surrounding is a lot more colorful than before.
All he was able to say after experiencing all of this is, "This is love,"
Kira retracted her lips from Herro's cheeks, and she saw that Herro was like a statue that is looking at the ceiling.
She let out a soft chuckle, and then she said, "Why don't we prepare the burial for my parents and your future parents-in-law? Hmmm."
When Herro heard Kira started to talk, everything turned normal to him. The word started to turn, and the time started moving again in his perception.
Then he suddenly remembered what Kira had said, and he was shocked. He couldn't help but ask, "WHAT?!"
Kira chuckled and said, "You haven't heard it? Well, just take it as a joke."
Herro was startled when he heard what Kira had said, and he suddenly said, "I heard it! I clearly heard it! Don't take it back."
The mood turned a little bit lively. Herro and Kira started to walk toward the Mutants' carcasses which are Kira's mother and father.
"Are you ready now, Kira?" Herro asked Kira who's standing beside him.
Kira looked solemn as she stared at the dead bodies of her parents. Then she asked Herro to give her some time with them.
Herro respected her decision and told her that he would just check the iron armor and flying car.
"Mom, Dad, I hope you'll be at rest there in heaven. I hope you two are still together, loving each other. If there really is reincarnation in our next life, I am still willing to be your child. Please forgive me for being weak and unable to save you or prevent this ominous disaster happened to the both of you." Kira paused momentarily and started to walk in their midst.
She saw that their hands were holding each other. "Mom, Dad, I think I found someone to who I am willing to entrust my life. I hope you made the right decision because I felt Herro is telling the truth, and he was so sincere when he said those words to me. I also learned to love him back."
Kira was smiling as she is talking with the dead body of her parents. It was as if she's doing a monologue. Well, it could be considered as a monologue.
"I love the both of you, Mom and Dad. Rest in peace, and please guide us from heaven." Then she leaned down towards the chest of her dad and plucked the locket in his chest. She also did the same thing to her mom.
Then she looks upwards as if her vision has pierced everything, and she directly saw the sky. She waved her hand towards the sky, saying goodbye to her parents. After waving at the sky, but the ceiling in the reality, she let out a sigh and then started to walks toward where Herro is dawdling around.
She took her time walking normally and not using her speed. She just wants to unwind and let her feelings calm down.
The distance between her and Herro was just short and after walking for around three minutes, she could see Herro who is checking the Iron armor again for the second time.
Kira suddenly remembered the time when Herro tried the Iron armor and he nearly fainted because of it.
But that clumsy guy she's been helping from the day they've met had already grown so strong, stronger than her and he only needed an hour or two just to do it.
Kira couldn't help but acknowledge how amazing and capable Herro is. If he was given enough time, he will be the strongest person on earth, that is what Kira believes in.
Then Kira saw Herro placed his fist in front of his face, it was the basic and well-known boxing stance. Then he suddenly threw a jab at the Iron armor. Herro's punch surpassed the capability of the armor and it shattered into pieces.
Kira saw how satisfied Herro was after shattering the armor. Kira was left there standing while staring unbelievably at Herro. She couldn't help but ask herself, "Is he taking his revenge at the Armor?"
