Chapter 111: Chapter 27

"This is just in! A group of scientists from the famous Large Lunar Hadron Collider may have just discovered a way to travel faster than light!" the anchor from a famous news network whose name is also a genre in a pornography said in a flash news.

People from all over the world was ecstatic. From capitalists to a low level worker in a gas mining platform, they're all ecstatic as this will literally change how the world works.

Power balance will be upset, even a third world country can rise and become a first world country because of this. However, this onoy happens in fantasy, you can't fight against the power of money. Love doesn't conquer, money does.

The academic world also is uprooted. You should know that the theorized way to travel faster than light is through the use of negative mass and engulfing the ship with it. It wouldn't break the laws of physics as the vehicle won't necessarily go faster than light but the space around it will move.

Numerous research facilities from all over the world and solar system are researching this field. Whoever invents a working prototype can basically be called "The godfather of the new era".

Such an honor can easily propel anyone to the highest of part of a pyramid. Honor, glory, money, and fame will come his way.

But who would've thought that a small and unrecognizable group of researchers on the Large Lunar Hadron Collider will not only discover something groundbreaking but also make it a reality with almost little to no theories in the field for references.

You can say that these men chose not to be tenants of the numerous theories present in the field of the negative mass. Instead, they chose to create their own method, somehow managed to test it, and made it work as it supposed and intended to.

"As a matter of fact, we have the groundbreaking researchers here on air! Let's give an around of applause to Mr..." the anchor started to introduce each one of them as their faces appeared near the face cam of the anchor.

"T-thank you, we can't imagine that we'll someday get interviewed on such a news station!" said the old man around 50 years old as he acted like a child who's taken to a playground for the first time.

"It's our honor to have the people who opened the gate for us to the new age! On behalf of all people here on the studio, we thank each one of you sincerely." the anchor smiled sweetly and bowed slightly to show her utmost respect.

Sounds of clapping in the background was heard as the camera shifted to the technicians who's standing while clapping.

Each clap sounded like a thunderclap on the ears of the researchers. Yes, they're happy, ecstatic even to get the recognition they think they "deserve" with all the hardwork they put in on furthering the field of the study regarding the string theory.

But something, like a bone on their throat prevented them from completely celebrating this whole occasion. The feeling of satisfaction isn't present, something like a weird barrier that prevents them from feeling this satisfaction.

"So, how did you managed to discover..."

...

Months later, Alpha Centauri, some 4 light years away...

This star system is filled with research platforms from most of the factions in the Citadel. From the Asari to the Salarians, and many more.

Their unique taste of architecture is present on their own research platforms. The sleek design of each faction's architecture can be seen and the whole star system looked like a contest to see who has the best architecture in the entirety of the galaxy.

These research platforms has the job of observing, gathering data, and conducting experiments on the "Prime Zone" around the biggest star of this tri star system.

Sometime ago, there's been a colonization ship filled with weird looking species. The people on the Citadel knew that these people might've been sent by some fledgling stellar civilization somewhere near this star system.

However, this star system is a restricted one. None can easily get in nor get out without the going through the tedious procedures of safety clearances, approval of the upper echelons of the new branch of the Citadel council which deals with everything happening on this start system.

It's too tedious that you might as well bring your family with you to the research platforms and live there for as long as needed.

The colonization ship, after much debate regarding moralities, ethics, and whatnot the agency in charge of the star system has decisively ordered to destroy the ship and scatter its passengers somewhere in the galaxy.

This is the compromise they decided to have. They can't just shoot down an innocent colonization ship from a fairly primitive species.

So, with guns blazing, they destroyed the primitive species's colonization ship's engines and rescued the passengers then scattered them all on a fairly secluded planet somewhere on the outer rims of the galaxy.

And here they are today, doing things as usual.

The Prime Zone proved to be an actual treasure trove of undiscovered things. They've managed to create all sorts of theories regarding how the very space time continuum itself works.

This went on for the first 800 years and within this time period, their technologies went leaps and bounds. Many proposed something like a powerful bomb that can scar the space but the other races of the Citadel are totally against it.

But, something like a wall made them literally unable to progress after 800 years.

For this very reason, their growth stunted for the past millennia or two. However, they didn't expand out of this Prime Zone as they thought they'll still grt more benefits from it. They're like trying to leach out what little is left of the Prime Zone and is becoming happy of this little droplets that's they're gaining.

Anyway, while these races are celebrating what little benefits they're getting, the humans on the Sol system, who's left unchecked are now gearing for a new round of exploration on the nearby star system.

The First Contact is about to begin, and it's not over relays but territorial disputes and dignity of the human race.
