Chapter 96: From the dreams and into the fire

In that moment, looking into Victor's eyes, Eve felt like nothing else mattered but him. It was as if all her previous life led there. All her goals, all her dreams, were mere fancies compared to her current desire to just keep him safe and close to her heart.

If that meant that Eve will save the rest of the Radiant Base and humanity in the process of protecting him with all her might, then it was only for the best.

She gave Victor a last squeeze on his arms before pulling away. Ideas and plans swirled in her head, thoughts on what she needed to bring Nexus down. Everything else faded into the background: the cries, the clangs and thunderbolts and the shaking of the earth, even the disgusting smell of rot.

As a creature made from nanites and only nanites, Nexus was as invincible as they got. Its only truly solid part was its core, but that wasn't a vulnerable point.
