Scurry of the desperate

"I can't comprehend this.." Daniel sighed, leaning his beginners spear on a nearby stone pillar.

"This is giving me a headache. I can't log out, can't contact the outside world, can't do anything," Daniel rubbed his temples as he looked through the help guide in the system menu.

'This only explains the basic functions of the game, I need something more detailed' Daniel thought closing the menu and grasping his spear.

Daniel started to stroll through the busy streets, players bustling for new equipment, and those sitting on the side comprehending what had happened.

"This constant despair reminds me of the hospital" Daniel said under his breath observing the troubled players.

Constant shouts came from the stalls upon Daniel's way. "Free Guide books!" A man shouted from behind Daniel.

Daniel's ears perked up after hearing those words. "Guide books?" Daniel said turning around and approaching a middle aged man with a red bandana around his forehead.

"Free right?" Daniel squinted his eyes at the middle aged man, clenching his fist quite tightly.

A cold sweat dripped from the man's face as he nodded and handed Daniel a copy.

* Would you like to purchase <Guide Book> for 0¢? *

A/N - ¢ = Col

Daniel nodded and the book shimmered with triangular particles as it transferred ownership.

Daniel grasped the book eagerly and flipped through the pages, stopping here and there.

"Awesome, I can quickly level up in the <Grass Meadows>" Daniel said closing the book and placing it into his inventory.

Daniel closed the system menu and continued on his path.

The surroundings changed from almost ancient buildings to green pastures and multiple floating islands.

"Now, let's get leveling" Daniel said cracking his knuckles and neck.

As Daniel's eyes came to realisation, he saw lots of players with the same armour as him fighting the monsters in the area.

Not a single monster was left vacant. He even swore he saw a line leading into a valley, just to fight a wolf.

"Who knew it would be this crowded?" Daniel said sarcastically laying his head to rest on a patch of grass.

His eyes wandered across the seemingly infinite sky. "Can I even level up with the restrictions?" Daniel thought to himself, rubbing his eyes from the dry breeze.

"Get off your ass!" A man yelled from beyond Daniel's line of sight, yet it still captured his attention.

"Get up and fight! The only way you can survive is strength!" The man yelled again at a seemingly dead body.

"I'm too tired," Daniel replied weakly.

"Don't give me that shit, there was no stamina function implemented!" The man above him yelled pulling him up and brushing the other's shoulders.

"Get in there!" He yelled once again, slapping the man on the ass.

Back to Daniel's point of view, it looked like a valiant sergeant and soldier. In reality it was two idiots.

"He's right, I need strength" Daniel grasped his spear as he entered the valley searching for a fight.

He was surrounded by the sunlight and sparks of the players sword's around him.

"I just need one mob" Daniel said looking into the vast grasslands.

His vision ran along the edges of the valley, looking for anything. A dire-wolf would do, he didn't care if it would kill him, he needed the levels.

His vision honed in on a distant wolf, it wasn't anything special, a normal mob.

Daniel's eyes brightened up, as he started his jog towards the wolf.

The sound of footsteps surrounded his ears. To his left was the man from prior and a hooded figure to his right.

"Forget about it, it's mine!" The 'Seargent' yelled at Daniel and the hooded figure. The man started to pick up speed, as his jog turned into a sprint.

"Yeah right!" The hooded man said before picking up speed and trailing the man.

"Shit!" Daniel yelled before following them at his highest speed.

A mad dash for the last wolf had started.
