Burn (Part-6)

"Find them please."

"Liam... I... I'll get right to it." Elaina replied. She had never stopped scanning the area, but for some reason she couldn't say anything else.

To Elaina, the look in Liam's eyes hurt her more than the horrific scene in front of them. She had never seen such deep hatred and anger ever before. Even though she knew this anger wasn't directed towards her, it still felt like a stab in the heart.

She wished never to be the target of such malice and hatred.

"Good." Liam said as she walked away from him.

....

....

....

*Liam Everhart*

"Good." I replied. Elaina had a disturbed expression on her face, but at this moment I was incapable of being concerned about that. I could feel the rage in my heart. I could feel my hands trembling to kill. Smiling with bloodlust, I suppressed my heavy breathing down to normal and started inspecting my armor to keep my hands busy and get a hold of myself.

"Liam!" Ren shook my shoulder to bring me back to my senses. He had been calling out my name for a while but i didn't notice till now. "Are you alright?"

I let out a deep breath. "Yes I am fine."

Ren let go of my shoulder and nodded. "That's good. Don't lose yourself. Also don't be so hard on Elaina. She is trying her best. There is nothing more she could have done."

"I know."

I looked over at everyone else. Elaina had walked over to the other side of the clearing to continue her search. Luca on the other hand was sitting down in the middle of clearing, looking away from the body as he comforted Sylvie.

Ren noticed I was looking at Sylvie. "The kid died a couple of hours ago. She inspected the body, all she could conclude was that there had definitely been a struggle before they... before they killed him. And that these ones are more intelligent than goblins usually are. It wasn't easy for her.

"Ren?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think monsters and demons can be considered living beings?"

"Yes. I do think they are more or less, living beings."

The malicious smile returned to my face. "Good. I want them to feel the slaughter."

Another strong gust of mana induced wind hit us.

All of us walked over to Elaina.

"That's the only possible direction they can be in. However at this point the mana veil is so dense I can only eliminate directions that lack a presence. Not find them." She said.

"Good enough for me. Let's move." I replied.

Elaina's tracking apparently gets better the closer the enemy is. It didn't take long for us to find our targets.

Less than 10 meters in front of us, the ground sloped down to a lower terrain. We were so close even I could sense them without magic.

Elaina whispered as we got closer. "I count more than 30 goblins There are more than last time, we should be care–"

"I don't care."

I charged forward sword drawn and bloodlusted.

"Elaina cover low! Luca cut them off!" I could hear Ren behind me.

But I didn't care. My eyes were only set forward.

Spatial Light Detection.

My personal close range tracking magic. Intended as a support magic for my fighting style, everything within 5 meters that my light touched would be rendered into my mind in the form of a three dimensional real time simulation of all that occurs and exists.

With my spatial light detection turned on and my own sensory inputs, in a range of 5 meters, I'm invincible.

The goblins caught by surprise scrambled to get their weapons.

But they were too slow.

Sliding down, I propelled myself off the slope, slashing right into the group of monsters. Giving them no time to react, one by one I cut through every monster unfortunate enough to be in the reach of my sword.

"AS IF I'LL LET YOU HAVE ALL THE FUN!!"

The ground shook as Ren landed with full strength right beside me, grabbing two of the goblins and smashing their heads into the ground. He punched away another goblin as he rose to his feet.

I laughed as we continued to hack, slash, smash and cut down each and every one of the monsters, while Elaina covered us, picking off goblins jumping down on us from above. Their screams of agony were music to my ears. I wish there were more, more for me to slay miserably.

As I looked upon the carnage that seemingly ended too quick, I realised something...

"Where's the girl?"

As if to answer my question Luca called out as he engaged a few forest goblins. "Up ahead! They are escaping."

I ran over to the direction Luca pointed to, not a single one of these despicable monsters can escape from me.

And there it was. Once again I was stopped in my tracks. Once again a horrific sight was in front of me.

But this time it didn't make me fall into despair, this time it made my blood boil with anger.

We found her, but we were too late, once again.

The girl had been abused and violated. A rope had been tied to her ankle as she was being dragged by the goblins, her lifeless naked body scraping across the forest floor, leaving bloodied marks in its wake.

There were no words to describe the rage in me. There were no thoughts that could deter me from what I felt.

"YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!!!!"

I screamed. I raged. I charged.

In a frenzy of unforgiving rage I erased all the goblins who turned to attack me, or tried to run. Even their deaths felt hollow to me. It took me an instant, and it was over as that. I didn't care.

My eyes were set on the lead goblin dragging the girl's body.

It was larger than the other goblins and had scrap plate armor over its body.

Meaningless.

As it turned to see me get closer, it dropped the rope and tried to run away faster.

Meaningless.

I wanted this one to suffer. I turned off my light magic and slashed off its legs with a pure strike of a regular metal sword.

It screamed out in pain as it fell over and turned to me with eyes filled with shock and horror.

Good.

As it tried to crawl away, I stepped on its back, crushing its rip cage and slashed off its arms as well.

The screams sounded beautiful. I picked up it's remaining body by the scrap armor and ran my sword through a non fatal point in its torso, pinning it to a tree nearby.

"Feel." I said as its screams started dying out due to the wounds I had inflicted.

Finally satisfied, I cut off its head. And just as I did, an arrow planted itself in the goblin's head pinning it to the tree.

Elaina was standing behind me with her bow drawn. "We don't have time for this. The girl is still alive."
