Chapter 2: Foreign World

The stunning sun was gazing upon me, the trees were dancing with me as I walked, and the sky itself greeted me as an equal and friend.

Yeah, it was boring as fuck.

I came to terms with my sudden transportation a while ago. Actually, if I want to be honest, this is pretty cool. It's not everyday you get to experience a whole new world. And this world was beautiful. The river I was traveling along sparkled, reflecting the color of the sky. The roads were made out of stone, but anyone could tell the road workers did a fabulous job on making these roads. They were just like the roads the Romans used to dig. The mountains in the far distance were stunning. They were like nothing I ever saw before. Truly magnificent.

However, my family and friends will not be joining me in this adventure unfortunately. Welp, may god bless them. While they live their boring lives, I shall be having the time of my life.

So far, I have been walking for at least twenty minutes and there was no end to the path I was currently traveling along. Eventually, I finally found a sign.

"Thank god. My feet are in Spain but without the s," I mutter to myself. My eyes dart back and forth across the sign, looking for directions. I keep my eyes glued to the sign for several minutes.

Why?

Because I don't fucking understand any of the markings on the sign. They don't fucking speak English here. They don't even use any type of alphabet that I'm familiar with. What a shitty isekai. Why couldn't I be isekai into something like Rising of the Shield Hero or Sword Art Online?

Honestly, what can I fucking do if I can't read?

Okay, okay. Calm down Yori. It's still likely they speak English or something similar. After all, Yahweh is merciful, Allah is greatest, etc. God wouldn't just put me into some world that is completely foreign to me, right? That would be pretty bad.

Amidst of all this, there is still one question that needs to be answered.

Where do I go?

Of course I could just keep traveling along the stone roads but what if the distance to the nearest city is like 50 miles. That's a long walk and there's probably bandits roaming around the roads. If my Elder Scrolls knowledge serves me correct. Well it's not like I have a choice, do I? Walking is the only thing I can do.

Wait!

Assuming I was isekai into a medieval world, then I should be able to find civilization if I follow the river. Most of the major cities back on Earth were made by rivers due to the river being important for trade, water, and food. Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Yellow River valley, the Indus River valley, etc, they all share one common factor. And those are rivers.

Of course, there is a chance that I'm completely wrong and there are no cities along the river. If that does happen, I'm cursing every historian with my final breath.

Two hours later…

I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. I'm tired. My feet hurt. My head hurts. My arms hurt. I'm not on the brink of death yet, but I swear, I'm gonna kill my history teacher. What a fucking liar.

I think I'm gonna rest at the river. Refresh myself, rest my legs, etc.

"I never was a fan of water, but damn, water has never tasted so amazing," I mutter. Seriously, everyone would be looking like Dwayne Johnson if water always tasted like this.

"This grass is so soft and comfortable, unlike the one at home. God, I hated the grass. Especially when it was freshly cut and it had that smell," I say as I lie down along the river.

The river was truly a stunning sight in the evening. The sun bleed a crimson color and the river reflected the sun's blood back into the sky.

Actually, it is pretty weird how this place has a sun, or something related to that.

"I wonder, how does this world differ from mine?" I ask the sky. It didn't respond, as if it was encouraging me to find out for myself.

Part of the reason I was so excited for this new world is all the different possibilities, the different routes people can take, the differences between this world and mine.

Ever since I was little, I was curious about everything and anything. My mother always told me that my first question was "why". It's a question, devoid of any context or substance, that has never been answered. And that infuriated me. Every answer always leads to another, so no one learns anything.

So I decided that I would be the one to answer the unanswerable. Just imagine the fame, the respect I would have got if I managed to find the truths in an existence full of lies. Everyone would be looking at me and praising me. Honestly, it would be beautiful.

But in this new world, I get to restart my journey of knowledge. It's infuriating but it is fascinating. So many differences to explore. Also, in most isekai there are supernatural or magical elements, so I would have to account that factor.

"So many things to discover, so many things to experience," I tell the sky.

The sun sets over the horizon as it gives me one last farewell. At the end of the sunset, I can finally spot the moon, sitting on it's black throne called night.

This moon is nearly identical to the one orbiting the Earth. Yet, it has one vital difference. Unlike my moon, this one is a crimson red and it doesn't share the same mysterious but calm vibes.

The blood moon radiates...hostility? No, more like malice. I get this feeling that the blood moon wishes for my death, for my utter obliteration.

"Haha," I chuckle. I'm being stupid. A moon can't do any of that. The red is just a color, and nothing more.

Putting my thoughts to rest, my consciousness turns off, and I drift off to peaceful sleep.
