CHAPTER 2
Alex dragged himself to the bathroom. God blessed the day Gabriel walked into his life, ever since they met that first day in high school they had hit it off. Alex hadn't. Had a great life, as a matter of fact, his life plain stinks. Living in a house with an abusive father and a drunk for a mother. To make matters worse he was an only child. His mother called him an accident, not planned, not made in love. Just an accident that shouldn't have happened, he barely made it through middle school and if it wasn't for charity and handouts he wouldn't have made it to high school. His parents really didn't care if he lived or died, and then there was Gabriel.
His life was totally opposite from Alex, his parents had taken him to registration and not only did he have a brother, he had an identical twin brother, was that cool or what. Alex had always wanted a brother even if his father had a child with another woman he wouldn't have cared; he just wanted a brother or a sister. But if that had happened he didn't know about it. Alex remembered when his father used to slap him around for no good reason, even if he looked at his father funny he would be beaten. He always wished he had someone to talk to, but he didn't.
He couldn't tell his neighbors, not that they would care, but if people started talking and the police got involved he knew he would not make it to the next day, because his father would take him out for sure. So he suffered alone. His parents weren't even there for his graduation from middle school, actually when he got home that day his father was on the couch with a beer in his hand, and his mother was passed out drunk on the bed
When he was to be registered in high school he asked an elderly couple who lived a few blocks down the road from him to pose as his grandparents. He usually does little chores for them, like going to the stores or the shop, sweeping their yard, and so on. So they knew him very well. They wanted to know why his parents couldn't take him, so he had made up a story about them being very busy and that he really couldn't afford to miss registration day. He didn't tell them about the situation at home, that part he kept to himself.
The registration went well, the principal didn't suspect anything. But he really didn't know how he was going to make it through high school, but he was determined to get an education, get a job, and get the hell away from his parent. And as luck would have it he met Gabriel on that very day. Even though Gabriel and his brother were identical twins they were two very different people. Gabe looked almost scared of his own shadow, but Gabriel on the other hand was the kind of guy that when you saw him coming down the hallway you get the hell out of his way. He was a very intimidating person and he was also very protective of his brother. After being friends with Gabriel for a while Alex found out that Gabriel's parents were very wealthy people. Their house couldn't be called a house, more like a mansion, and Alex ends up spending a lot of time there.
Gabriel's parents were very warm and loving people and they welcome him with open arms. They treated him like a son. Gabriel's brother wasn't that into him but he was always polite to him. Alex loved spending time with them. Gabriel was very popular in high school so they got invited to a lot of parties. He, Gabriel, and Gabe would go out on weekends and party till they drop. As long as they were home before 12 midnight they were good. Gabriel's parents allow their sons to do whatever makes them happy, as long as they weren't doing anything to put them in jail or get them killed. Gabriel at sixteen owned a black Honda bike, while Gabe owned a Honda civic, he wanted a Honda like his brother's but was scared to death of the bike, so he settled for the car instead.
At seventeen Gabriel and Gabe each got a Mercedes Benz for their birthday, Gabe no longer needed his Honda civic so he gave it to Alex. Gabriel shared everything with Alex, clothes, money, car, bike everything. And for the first time since he was born Alex had the brother he had always wanted. All through middle school Alex couldn't remember ever been happy, but his years in high school were a blast thanks to Gabriel. Then tragedy struck a few months after their seventeen birthday. Gabriel's brother was killed in a robbery. The death of Gabe rocked Gabriel hard, his grief was intense. He didn't know how to handle the pain so he turns to alcohol to numb the pain, and when that didn't work he turns to steroids. And with Alex by his side and love and support from his parents he survived.
Alex confided in Gabriel about the situation at home, Gabriel and his parents were very sympathetic towards Alex, and since his parents didn't care if he came home or not, he was practically living with Gabriel. Together they graduate high school. And with Gabriel's help, they both went to college. Full of grief Gabriel hit the books hard and they mostly stayed by themselves. They were so grieved over Gabe that they forgot what fun was. So studying becomes their favorite pass time. Their major was business management. They finished college in two years flat. Then they went on to university.
Gabriel picked a university that was close to his home so he could be near his parents. And once again they both finished university within two years. After graduation Gabriel and his parents went on a holiday vacation, it was close to Christmas at the time, Alex stayed behind to retake an exam that he had failed before. He didn't mind staying behind. Gabriel needed some time alone with his parents anyway. He had just returned to Gabriel's house feeling good about his exam results when he got the call. Gabriel's parents were in an accident and were in the hospital.
On his way to his friend Alex remember thinking that this family, this wonderful family was struck with a serious case of bad luck, while his dysfunctional one was quite fine, by the time he got to England Gabriel's parents were dead, and once again he and Gabriel went through hell. Losing Gabriel's parents were like losing his own. They meant more to him than his own parents. This time the grief was even worse than before. They were both numb with grief. Together they flew the bodies back home. all through the preparations for his parent's funeral, Gabriel was like a block of ice. He showed no emotions, he kept everything inside; days would pass without him saying as much as two words to Alex.
After the funeral, Gabriel decided that he didn't want to stay in the house anymore, so to Alex's surprise, Gabriel sold his parent's businesses, ship his bike to Jamaica, took what he needed from the house, and sold the house as well. This now made Gabriel a multi-millionaire. He moved to Jamaica and stayed with his aunt, but soon brought his own house. When Gabriel was moving into his house Alex moved in with him.
The house Gabriel bought was a massive two-storied mansion in Coopers Hill and Gabriel spend the next few months making it his dream home. Alex loved living with Gabriel but he really wanted a house of his own, and on his way to do some business one day he came across the perfect house. A nice two-story house, not as big as Gabriel's, but he fell in love with it. He showed it to Gabriel and within a week Gabriel bought it for him. He now owns his very own house. Even though he spent most of his time with Gabriel it was very nice to have a place of his own. Their friendship had survived some very dark times, but at the end that made them even closer, Gabriel was no longer just his friend, Gabriel was now his brother.
