Ryss POV
"For 30 points, What kind of study is a Radiology Physics?" I quickly raise my hands after Professor Lim read the question. "Yes Reyes?" I stand up straight and play with my ball pen while answering "Radiologic Physics is the study of medical imaging components, technology, and parameters in an effort to produce optimal imaging results." Professor Lim nodded and gesture me to sit down. "Okay 30 points goes to Reyes." I smiled and listen more about her discussion.
I am a dean lister so I need to maintain my grades but sometimes it was hard for me because I also need to balance my time for my family, my friends, my studies and volleyball.
I glance at my wrist watch and saw that it is already 9:15, Professor Lim's class will end at 10:10 so we still have 55 minutes left. My 2nd class will be on 11:25 and will end on 1:40, Professor Ricardo will held an quiz so I need to study later.
Time fly fast and Radiology Physics already ended. I saw Pat, Clare and Dy in the canteen, ordering, so I wave my hands at them and they gestured me to approach them.
"Naa man diba moy quiz?" (May quiz diba kayo?) Sofia asked and I nodded. Dy and Clare let us find a table that is good for the four of us while they were ordering.
"Sa asa nga subject?" (Saang subject?) She said and placed the book she was carrying a while ago and her bag, I also put my three books that I need later beside hers and placed my bag under the table.
"Sa kuan.. Sa Medical Terminology." (Sa ano.. Sa Medical Terminology.) She nodded and started using her phones. I glanced at everyone who was at the canteen and smile at those people I knew.
I saw some of my classmates in the next subjects eating and chitchatting and when they saw me they quickly wave their hands so I wave back at them. I also saw students entering the canteen and started lining up behind other students.
I was about to helped Dy but she told me that there was another tray left.
"Excuse me po." I excused and reached for the tray . "Thank you" I smiled at ate Ai and headed back to the table. I saw them arranging the foods and drinks while Pat helped me to put all the foods in the table, I handed the tray to the janitor that was walking around and I was about to sit when I heard other students screams and "Oh my God's".
I sat down first before glancing at the canteen entrance. I saw Ice, Vann, Louie and Eiru entering the canteen. They are my friends but I'm not really close with Vann even though I'm close with his sisters. I saw Dy and Clare waving at their kuya's before Sofia led the prayer.
"Amen." Sabay sabay naming ani at nagsimula ng kumain. Kukunin ko sana yung tubig ng may nagdugtong ng lamesa katabi ng saamin, lumingon ako at nakitang sina Ice iyon. Nilapag nilang lahat ang kani-kanilang mga pagkain at umupo. Katabi ko si Vann dahil nasa dulo ako. Nagsimula na namang mag-ingay ang canteen kaya napatakip ako sa aking tainga.
"Tumahimik nga kayo!" Pat shouted kaya tumahimik ang lahat, pati ang kaninang tumatawa na si Isaac. "Ang canteen ay para kainan hindi para tilian, naintindihan niyo?!" She madly asked at nagpameywang pa.
Everyone nodded including Ice, I chuckled at him and began eating again. The whole canteen became quiet at nagmamadaling lumabas yung mga babaeng maingay kanina.
Its already 10:25 and we already finish eating. We were all eating for recess but there's a lot of students because its monday. Instead of flirting, students went to canteen to eat because we all have a lot of work to do. Students lunch is usually on 1:00 due to quizzes, orals or any activity.
I am currently recalling some words I memorized last Friday and yesterday so that I can be familiarized with them later. "Lungs - Pneumo, Chest - Thoracic, Thorax and Thora-" I glance at Ivann when he suddenly grab my book, he looked at me gestured me to continue. "Go just continue." He said as he face me, side view.
"O-oh" He raised an brow at me kaya tumikhim ako. "I-I'll continue." I stuttered but he just nodded.
"Lungs - Pneumo, Chest - Thoracic,Thorax and Thoraco- , Ear - Auricle, Eye - Ocular, Oculo-, Ophtalmo-" He nodded and I continue reciting. "Testicle - Orchio-, Orchi-, Orchido and Uterus is Hystero-"
"Okay good. Where's the next?" He asked at kinuri ang aking mga libro. I gave him the copy of the terms and stare at him, side view.
"Okay recite me the root word and give me the meaning." I nodded and start reciting.
"Cepahl/o is Head, Chrom is Color, Enter/o is Intestine, Derm/o is skin, Gastr/o is stomach." I keep on reciting but sometimes I forgot some terms so he made me repeat until I got the correct words.
Clare, Pat, Eiru and Luoie left first because they still have classes while me and Dy will go together but in different classrooms. "Let's go na Dy ma le-late na ako." I glance at my wrist watch and its ready 11:18. Dy nodded and grab her bag and walk towards me.
They sent me to my next subject before they go to their next class. "Good Luck Ryss" Ivann said so I smiled at him and he smiled back. I stared at his back until he was gone from my sight.
I enter the room and all my classmates were preparing. Pagkaupo ko ay siya namang pasok ng Prof namin. "Okay so did you all study?" Professor Ricardo ask and we all nodded. Kinakabahan ako. "Okay so let's start."
He gave as a 3 pages of paper and I guess ito na yung quiz namin, kadalasan naman terms, meaning kaya madami siya. "Okay start!" I quickly right my name and started answering. Napangiti ako ng mapagtanto na lahat ng pinag-aralan ko ay lumabas sa quiz.
"Good Luck Ryss."
I reviewed my worked for 3 times before I pass it. Professor Ricardo quickly check all of our tests while he let us read the terms and meanings in the book. I looked at my classmates frustrated faces and some were about to cry.
I sighed and looked at the pleasing view outside. If katabi mo yung bintana makikita mo yung kalahati ng batibot ngunit tanging mga puno lang ang aking nakikita ko dahil nasa gitna ako.
"Okay so I'm gonna announce the scores. It is over all 100 points at 85 points pataas lang ang pasado." I looked at our prof and at some of my classmates. Hindi naman sa pagmamayabang pero alam ko talagang hindi ako babagsak, pinag-aralan at sinaulo ko kasi lahat kaya alam kong pasado ako.
"The highest score got perfect." Professor Ricardo said and napa "wow" tung ibang kaklase ko.
"Akira Mistrante got 94 points." I smiled at her and clapped my hands. She is an intelligent girl and she's very kind. "Next is Shaira Kate Lopez, she got 96 points." I smile and clapped my hands again. Isa siya sa tinutukoy ko kanina sa canteen.
"Next is the highest score." Professor Ricardo said and smiled at me. "Ryss Celeste Reyes got the perfect score." I stand up and took my test paper. My classmates were all saying congratulations and I thank them for that.
Thank you Lord.
"I knew it! Your always top Ryss." Akira said and smiled at me. After returning our test papers Professor Ricardo lectured another topic so we all listened especially to those who didn't passed.
"Keep it up Reyes. Your always been good not only in my class but to your other subjects as well." Professor Ricardo said and took all of his belongings but before he left, I thanked him first before walking through the hallway to buy snacks.
My classmates congratulate me for perfecting the exam. May kasunduan kasi kami na kung sino ang makakaperfect ay exempted sa exam.
I walked down the hallway and bought fries and C2 at the canteen. I then went to my locker to put all my things and to grab my pillow and a blanket dahil pagkatapos maubos nitong pagkain ko ay matutulog muna ako para may lakas para sa training mamaya.
Pumwesto ako sa ilalim ng puno at nakita ang iilang estudyante na lumalabas galing sa kani-kanilang mga classroom.
After eating, I cover the whole blanket at the and place my pillow at the top. I alarm my phone at exactly 2:30 pm so that I can still have time preparing later.
We all stop when coach whistled. "I'll give you 5 minutes break. Now rest." We quickly sat on the floor, exhausted.
I looked around and saw my team mates digging, blocking and spiking. We need to prepare because we will attend the DAPRISA league.
"Matraque tayo?" Aya ni ate Dan pagkatapos naming makapagbihis. "G!" Sabay sabay naming ani at nagsitungo na sa kanya kanyang sasakyan.
Madalas na talaga naming pinupuntahan ang matraque, lalo na pagkatapos ng training. Kumain lang kami at nag usap-usap ng bagay bagay at tinanong panila ako kung kamusta daw yung quiz ko.
"Hmm I got the perfect score." I said and handed them my test paper. "Wow! Very Good!" Ate Dan said at binasa yung mga essays ko. Pat, Clare, Dy, Theris and I high five each other while ate Erika kissed me on the cheeks. "So it mean, excempted ka sa exam ni Professor Ricardo?" Theris asked and I nodded.
"Bye girls!" I started the engine and drove my way to our village. It's already 9:28 pm at baka hinahanap na ako sa amin. Tumawag naman ako kanina sa bahay kaya alam kong sinabi ni manang na kumain kami sa labas.
After parking my car, I headed to the kitchen when I heard my mom talking. Naputol lang ang sasabihin niya ng makita ako.
"Ohh hi baby!" Mommy kissed me on my cheeks and gestured me to sit down. "So how's your day?" She asked after I blessed on her. "Its tiring ma." I said as I blessed on manang's hand and kissed daddy on his cheeks.
"You should rest. You already ate right?" Daddy asked and I nodded. "Yes dad we went to matraque." I then went to kuya and kissed him on his cheeks.
"Dad's right you should rest." Ani ni kuya.
"Okay but before that." I grab my test paper from my bag and gave it to my mom. She took it from my hand and check my score. She made an ohh reaction and handed daddy my test paper.
"Perfect." Dad whispered and handed it to Kuya. Nang makuha ni kuya iyon, sumilip si manang at tinignan ang aking score.
"Hala!" Manang exclaimed and clap her hand. Mama kissed me on my cheeks as well as daddy. Kuya and I fist bump each other and manang did a high five with me.
"Keep it up." Daddy said and commanded me to go upstairs. I nodded my head and headed to my room. I did my night routine and charge my phone. I wore a sando and shorts before turning on the air conditioner.
I cover my body with a blanket when the cold air hit my skin. I grab my favorite pillow and hugged it tight, but before I close my eyes, I prayed first before I let my body rest.
