Chapter 29: Aftermath

Love.

When one thinks about it, it sounds magical, phenomenal.

Books and movies have portrayed it as something to look forward to. Something so fascinating, that it would leave you wondering what it felt like to love and be loved.

Anna had that hope.

Had.

Past tense.

If one were to ask Anna about it right now, she might just stare at the person and shrug. The shrug can either mean that she's neutral about it or she just doesn't care anymore.

It has shattered her heart for what felt like a thousand times. At this point, she might as well be numb.

But is she?

When Kristofer Almodiel's mother told her about him liking her, she felt her insides churn. Warmth spread against her chest and she could almost imagine the heat rising in her cheeks like she was inside an oven.

And the funny part was, she didn't understand what that meant for her and her heart. Neither did she know what to do about it.
