'Nicole lied!' The thought screamed inside Noah's head but his face remained passive. He had no idea that Ellise had his ex-wife investigated. He understands the need of having someone's background check. It's something that he had been doing since he entered his grandfather's company. Although, he had someone's background checked not because of business but because he was just jealous. Still, the fact that Ellise checked on Nicole didn't sit well on him. 

"Why?" He asked with a grim expression on his face. 

"I told you before that it's better to have a look at people around you if you want to know the identity of the perpetrator. Your business dealings bring you a lot of enemies. That's normal in business, but all of them were businessmen, they know that they won't gain anything to attack your daughter or your girlfriend." 

"And Nicole does?"
