Chapter 70: Worthless

Gun aimed to my head my life flashed before my eyes.

Why is it we appreciate something more when it is being taken away from us rather than cherishing life, our loved ones when we have the freedom to? How is it that a single life-threatening event can bring long buried emotions and stir what was settled? I guess that's why people say to leave things be, leave the past in the past and live today like there will be no tomorrow. But what else is there to do when the way forward is the way back? Perhaps though it is just selfishness to return, to make others feel what was healthier for them to forget?

Hanson River, Julius Moon, Zara Lannister, and I were best friends despite the atomicity between our fathers we still managed to have a healthy friendship. It wasn't until I got older that my father started to compare me to them. A sweet friendship being slowly tarnished into bitter hatred and jealousy.
