Chapter 15: Kosuta

Renāto, accompanied by Concheda and her Kai, arrive at the great Mangō tree. This ancestral tree was the first in all of Araukaria and is where Dentō, the region's main nejireta, originated.

— What a huge tree — exclaims Wierd — How can it be the origin of all Dentō, if our first Shirei-kan was a musketeer?

— How do you think he learned about Dentō? Alone? — scoffs Concheda.

— Wierd, you ignoramus — exclaims Rioth — Everyone who has mastered at least a part of Dentō knows that Gurenāru only became a Shirei-kan thanks to Iraku.

— I bet they altered history to include the chimaras in the tradition of that region — mutters Tulbs

During the conversations, Renāto takes out his sword, places it at his side, sits down in front of the large tree, and begins to meditate. A solid red and blue force begins to envelop the musketeer, causing a strong wind to blow around him. The musketeers become fearful, having never witnessed such a strong aura from Dentō.

Suddenly, Dentō's vortex stops. Renāto gets up and turns to his Kai, visibly frightened, and stares at Tulbs.

— It is not known how the tradition of this region came about, whether by the Chimaras or by us musketeers — says the kyapen — But when you realize that both races have become one, the Dentō becomes unparalleled for those who control it. Only Iraku and Gurenāru were able to achieve this because they put this issue aside and decided that the combination of the two peoples formed their tradition. If you want to honor this region, understand that, because it's what will make you stronger in the future.

After speaking, Renāto picks up his sword and turns in the direction of the cave where Kosuta is.

— Renāto, I have to go back to the forest — says Concheda — I'll train to serve Araukaria in the next Kisetsu, so that my dishonor doesn't happen again.

— You've helped us more than you should have, Concheda. Good training.

— Good training. Good luck with Kosuta, and be careful not to become one of his victims again. You have to be alive to take part in the tournament.

With that, Concheda leaves them. Renāto and his Kai entered the cave, which didn't seem to have any stone, but rather wood and dried leaves, as if it were the inside of a tree trunk. Entering the cave, they came across a trail of illuminated seeds. This trail went on linearly until it reached a point where it split into several paths. The cave starts to look bigger on the inside than on the outside. Suddenly, a voice was heard in the darkness.

— Look, look, if it isn't the saviors of Araukaria. Musketeers from the capital!

The musketeers start looking for the owner of the voice, but find nothing but the glowing seeds. Suddenly, some of the seeds come together and form a chimera-like figure.

— Kosuta...

— Great Renāto! You've finally come to face me, since in the tournament you no longer appear in any of our fights, since the fight you've gone berserk... Have you come to give me back what you took from me?

— I've come to settle this intrigue once and for all. The Chimaras can't revolt against the Musketeers forever for our reasons. That's not what Iraku...

Suddenly, Kosuta enlarges his image, in a threatening and altered way.

— DON'T MENTION HER NAME, MUSKETEER! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT!

The Kai sheathe their swords, but Renāto looks at them, with denial, to do nothing.

— Your people started this conflict, and through you, musketeer! I never cared much about the history of our people until I saw you in action, Renāto. I realized that the history and tradition of our region were more important than I thought. That you, the living legend, were an inspiration. When we had our first fight, you were replacing Gabiru, who was retiring from the tournament. I was thrilled because seeing you represent Araukaria so well gave me an unbelievable desire to fight for this region, and above all, to strengthen its tradition. But...

Before he finished his speech, the cave lit up and a hall made up of muskets and rapiers was revealed, as if more than 100 musketeers had been represented there. In the center, there was an armchair made of their uniforms, and sitting in it was a chimara who was different, to say the least. His gaze was far more menacing than any other chimara in Dō no Mori. He had one leg bent and the other severed halfway up his thigh, with a blue light at its base. In his possession was a scythe unlike any scythe ever seen. Its shaft seemed to have both metal and wooden parts, and the top formed a pointed structure and a base that looked like a foot.

— Kyapen we see, we usually don't know, do we?!

The best of Araukaria, reunited!
