Chapter 216: Going Hungry

They planned their departure around the tide. There was not much that Serenica could say to her family. She knew they loved her, and they knew she loved them back.

One thing that made her curious was the fact that Gunner was still home and not on the battleground, but she was thankful for that.

"I missed the Princess," she told to the scarily competent merchant. "Here is the rest of your payment. You are now free to come and go as you please."

"I wouldn't have asked for permission anyway," he said with a grin. "Godspeed, if you believe in that stuff, doc, it's been a pleasure sailing with you."

They left the island. The winds were favorable enough, but something in the water was slowing them down.
