Chapter 52: ᴛᴡᴇʟғᴛʜ.
"Ayami?" He called for her and a gentle smile formed on his lips when he saw her walking out of the bedchamber. She just woke up and she had a hard time wearing one of her new gowns that she received from her husband.
Akari used to be her name but her name was Ayami. She received a forehead kiss from her husband and then, a servant arrived to tell them that the breakfast was already served. They went to the dining hall and fear enveloped her whole body when she saw one of the thousand demons. It was the most powerful one. Reiki held her behind him and when they looked around, the servants were already unconscious on the floor.
"It looks like you two are still in the honeymoon period." The demon said. He squinted when he saw it holding a scroll. The demon threw it on the table and then, he stretched his arm, making the scroll move on its own.
"What is this?" He asked and they read what was written. It was their agreement. Reiki agreed on claiming Ayami's soul from heaven in exchange for killing the Queen of the Underworld who is Gia but since he failed to do it, the demon needs Ayami's soul back to them.
"Would you mind if I take her back now?" The demon asked and Ayami shook her head. The demon, who is also Katarina's father, raised a brow. It has been only a while since they started living together as husband and wife. She would not bear to be away from Reiki anymore.
"How about the baby's soul instead? I know you're pregnant." The older one said and she slumped on the floor while covering her belly with her arms. It was supposedly a surprise for Reiki but she didn't know that he would take their precious baby away.
"No.. not my baby, please." She cried softly. The demon grinned widely before disappearing in thin air. Ayami started screaming in pain as she bled, meaning that she already had lost their child in her belly.
The servants finally regained consciousness and they rushed to the new Queen of the Unidentified World. Reiki carried her back to their bedchamber and she screamed more, not because of pain but because of agony and sorrow. They just lost their first child. She was anticipated to be the mother of Reiki's children but because of the agreement, they lost him. Reiki tried to comfort her but she couldn't help but to blame herself.
"If loving you is this painful, I don't think I can endure it anymore." She whispered to him while crying hard. He shook his head and tried to believe that she was not regretting that they sacrificed everything just for their love.
"You know how much I love you, Ayami. Ever since we were in preschool." He wiped her tears and she started regretting that she had said those to him. He kissed her forehead and she cried more in his arms.
On the other hand, Yuuki just finished his training with his grandfather. The little princess, Hanahime is sitting on the side while enjoying the huge strawberry that her mother prepared for them. He took off the heavy armor suit and then, he sat beside Hanahime. The little princess is growing up so fast and her human body is already a year old. She gave the half-bitten strawberry to her older brother and then, she took a new one to eat it.
"I don't eat leftovers, Hanahime." He said but then, he popped it in his mouth. Yuu was still in focus, experimenting with his powers if he could create a more powerful mantra against the thousand demons.
"Nii-nii, eat." Hanahime said when she finished half of the strawberry once again. He glared at her but then, he still ate it. When Yuu approached them, Hanahime reached for him and he carried her in his arms.
"We should go back now. I'm sure your mother is already looking for us." Yuu said and Yuuki nodded while smiling. He picked up the empty fruit bowl and then, he held his grandfather's hand since he was the one who can bring back to the human world.
"Okaa-san, Hanahime is so naughty. She gave me her leftovers instead." Yuuki puffed his cheeks before proceeding to the kitchen. He got his own batch of fresh strawberries from the fridge and Hanahime started whining that she also wanted to have more.
"Look at you. You're messy, little woman." Fuyu said while wiping the dried strawberry juices around Hanahime's mouth. Sho just arrived from the underworld. The King asked for his presence since the Queen will give birth anytime soon.
"Are they fine there?" Fuyu asked when her husband arrived. Sho took his seat and then, he pulled out the list of the names of the thousand demons. It was arranged by names and at the same time, their weaknesses were included.
"We can use this. I found the list in the library. I did a quick research since we need to defeat all of them." He answered instead. She stared at him while smiling and he gave her a questioning look.
"I always thought that you're a genius but it turns out that you're really one." She chuckled softly and he gently pinched her cheeks. Yuu cleared his throat and the married couple fixed their composure.
"If that's the case, I will think of more strategies to defeat them. If they know that we got this list, they might attack us sooner." Yuu suggested and they all knew that they should not slack off. The Queen and the Prince's lives are at stake.
"Are you feeling anything weird, Hanahime?" She asked the little princess and she shook her head. They felt relieved for the meantime, not until they heard the doorbell ringing. Hanahime started clinging on her father and they all prepared to attack. Yuu opened the door and instead of a demon, they found the Queen's ex-husband, Itsuki.
