267. Pirate King
As they said, the Straw Hat Pirates are publishing their feat of reaching Laugh Tale to the world and they do it in an unexpected way. They go to New Marineford to make the announcement. It obviously surprised the Marines who never expected it.
All high-ranking Marine officials in the base are coming to the port. Of course, Garp too. This is one of the main reasons they go to this place. Luffy wants to tell his Grandpa who always opposed him being a pirate that he finally becomes the Pirate King.
"GRANDPA!"
"LUFFYYYYY! WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO HERE?"
Garp is holding his head stressedly because of his grandson is about to make another trouble for him.
"GRANDPA, I'VE DONE IT! I'VE GONE TO LAUGH TALE AND FOUND ONE PIECE!"
Like a thunder, his announcement shocks the whole New Marineford. The Marines have heard this news for a few days but they can't confirm it yet. Now the crew in question has come and confirms it themselves.
It's so shocking they don't know what to do and can only stand on their spots stiffly. Even Roger Pirates weren't this overbearing when they became the 1st pirate crew to find the last island. But now the Straw Hat Pirates are doing such a thing in the Marine HQ of all places.
"Well then, we will leave now. We only come here to tell you that."
Without waiting for the Marines to react, the Straw Hat Pirates leave immediately. When the Marines finally come to their senses, the Thousand Sunny has gone quite far. They want to give chase, but the pirates have disappeared the moment they get on their warships.
This incident spreads like wildfire to the whole world. There are many reporters on New Marineford, so it quickly becomes a headline on all newspaper agencies. This is obviously the hottest topic they can possibly get after the defeat of Celestial Dragons.
The whole world is now in turmoil because of this news. Many people who still didn't believe that One Piece exists even after what Whitebeard said in his last moment are in shock now. Those who also want to find One Piece are mad because they have lost to Straw Hat Pirates.
But many of them still don't want to give up on getting One Piece. After all, it's without a doubt the greatest treasure dreamed by many. So they all are planning to rob that treasure from the Straw Hat Pirates.
This is the outcome they want, so the Straw Hats are now preparing themselves to fight all these hyenas. But they know they can't fight all of these pirates at once even though they are strong. So they need to make sure they just fight some groups at once.
To do that, they need to keep moving while revealing their locations every once in a while. This way, they can dispose of the ones that find them first. Also, by keep moving, they can set the battles to happen in the sea because they don't want to involve civilians on the islands.
Besides, if they stay on an island, they won't have any room to move if the enemies come at the same time and make a siege. So this is the most effective strategy with a higher success rate and they can save their energy the most with this.
However, unlike what they thought, the powerful pirate crews they thought would come have never showed up even after 2 weeks. Crews like the Emperor crews or the Worst Generation crews never come to challenge them. Only random crews and the Marines are coming after them.
"Yo Kid, I thought you would rush to take One Piece from us."
Jon is calling Kid with denden mushi to tease the guy. They've exchanged each other's crew contact after defeating Kaido.
<SHUT UP, DEMON EYES! I HAVE MY PRIDE, I AM NOT SO LOW TO TAKE WHAT YOU'VE GOT. We lost because we couldn't find the way before you. Don't think I don't know what you are planning now. I know you want to bait all of us and firm Straw Hat's position as the Pirate King. It must be your plot, right? No way this is that idiot's idea.>
"Heh, I never expected you would realize that. Well, it must be Killer who realized it. No way your idiot brain would even know that, hahaha."
<Damn bastard! Tsk, whatever! Where's your Captain?>
"Hmm? What is it, Jaggy?"
<Straw Hat, I admit you've won the race to Laugh Tale and find One Piece. But don't think I will give up on that Pirate King title. I won't go after you now when many people are also targeting you. It will make me look like I am a sore loser who can only defeat you when you are tired from fighting many people. I will come after you in the future and defeat you to take that title from you.>
"Yeah, come anytime you want. I will wait for you."
Luffy grins and Kid closes the call. Then they also call the other big pirates they know and most of them say similar things with Kid. But some of them also say they are actually not interested in getting One Piece or being the Pirate King.
"Heh, so these biggies have similar thoughts. They think it's shameful for them to also act like hyenas going after the lion's food. Their pride is too high to do that and it will look like they are sore losers who can't admit defeat. Well, this saves us a lot of trouble."
Without the powerful crews attacking them, the Straw Hat Pirates can finish this plan faster and easier. Although it still takes a month for them to finish it completely. It takes a month to make all those greedy pirates give up.
Now they can finally relax and enjoy their time freely again. They can finally visit their friends too now without being worried about endangering them. They can't wait to see their friends' reactions to their feat and their new bounties they got a few weeks ago.

All of them get big raises. Luffy now has a higher bounty than Jon as the Pirate King. Jon may be the strongest in the world now, but the Pirate King is deemed more dangerous. Also, Luffy is Jon's Captain, so he can order Jon which is truly dangerous.
But while these bounties scare a lot of people, for the Straw Hats, these are achievements worth celebrating. Everyone except Nami seems very happy and satisfied with their new bounties, especially Chopper who gets a really high bounty.
Other than bounties, in the last month, they also met some of their pirate friends like the Straw Hat Grand Fleet members, the New Beasts Pirates, and Mink Pirates. These guys even helped them dispose of some hostile pirate crews when they visited.
Anyway, they have now solidified their position as the Pirate King crew. They have proved that they are worthy of the title and no one can take it from them. The bigshots know their power and didn't even try to attack them because they know it's futile.
They'll just embarrass themselves, while the ignorant ones have paid the price for their stupid actions. Most of them have ended up as Seakings' turd now after the Straw Hat Pirates sunk them.
Now, the finally free Straw Hat Pirates are going to Paradise. They have stayed in the New World for a long time, so they want to meet their friends in Paradise too. Of course, they stop by Fishman Island on their way to Paradise.
Yet another big celebration is held in Fishman Island upon their arrival. The Fishmen are very happy with the Straw Hats' success and have been waiting for them to come. But the crew also has another thing to deal with here. The last ancient weapon, Poseidon.
