Chapter 61: Death Trap

“Let’s get out of here,” she said, and quickly turned around for the door. I went after her and grabbed her arm restraining her.

“We will get out of here in a normal way. We don’t want getting attention by rushing out and showing panic.”

“Are you really sure she’s dead?” Anita said, still doubting my pronouncement. “Maybe it’s her heart, do you think?”

“I’ll check again, but stay here and don’t go scampering out.” I went back beside the Amah the second time and held her other hand resting on her lap. I felt her wrist for a long time and the result was the same: no throbbing of a pulse. I looked intently at her body then at her limbs and came to conclude that she died peacefully. I had seen many violent deaths and Amah’s death had no trace of them. Anita was probably right, Amah died of a heart attack.
