Chapter 54: Chapter 54 - Emerald Interlude 1
Blood flashed through the air in great rivers, his aura shattered, a great gouges torn right in the centre of his throat by the chittering grimm bug within Cinder's arm.
A desperate move, snatching victory from the jaws of death.
Still, Cobalt lashed out, despite his throat being literally torn out, his aura broken, his enhancements lost, the power behind his kick caught Cinder in the core of her stomach and her mistress bent over the blow before he gave a gurgle, reaching up to grasp his throat with one hand and put more force behind his blow, Cinder giving a squeal as she was launched backwards through the air, towards the end of the room they were fighting in, a loud bang resounding out as she slammed into the metal walls and fell to her backside on the ground, staring wide eyed with terror at him.
Cobalt staggered forward a moment and Cinder's eyes widened further, "GO AWAY!" she screamed in fear.
He didn't listen. He made to take a step further, only to lose his footing and begin stumbling backwards, "..Well..that's unfortunate." despite his throat having a massive gouge in it, he still somehow managed to make a witty comment.
He fell back and Emerald's arms reached out and caught him. The exhaustion of the fight, and the emotional hit she took with Cinder aiming at her just for a chance at taking him down, leaving her drained enough that she stumbled founder his weight. Her arms wrapped around his upper torso as he turned around and his face landed on her chest, she could feel the deep slick and sticky wetness of his blood pouring out onto her.
'This can't be real....' Emerald thought, ruby red eyes beginning to glisten to tears. 'Why!?' why, oh why did he she have to blurt out she was meeting with her team to him as an excuse and give him a way to find them.
This was her fault!
She heard Cobalt give a little gargle and looked down to meet his eyes, only to see him with a bit of a half smirk on his face, "..Your boobs..are bigger than I thought they were...you're pretty stacked Em." a half sob left her throat at his words. She felt him raise one of his arms dangling past his waist and tensed, thinking he was about to push off to try and continue.
Instead, she felt a familiar sensation. The palm of his hand winding around her waist and taking a great big handful of her ass, "..Shoulda tattoo'd my name..on this..fat ass when I had...the chance...later Em...it was.....fun." his eyes closed as he finished and she felt his body go limp.
She didn't need to be a rocket scientist to understand. He was gone. Yet, even then, murdered, he still had it in him to mouth off and perv on her like he always did. And even when his body went limp, his grasp never did.
She remembered back to their first meeting, when she told him he should remove his hand from her ass. What he had said, 'Kinda tempted to say that you'd need to pry my cold dead fingers off of an ass this amazing.'
Her entire being went numb and she slumped to her knees, cradling his body all the while. Stil, his cold, dead hand did not let go of her ass, 'looks like you weren't lying...that's so like you.' Emerald noted.
..Why? Why? WHy?!!! WHYYYYYY!
Just as she was about to mentally breakdown, the voice of Mercury spoke up, "Man what a badass." the grey haired cunt whistled from where he sat at the side of the room, one of his legs missing from when Cobalt literally tore it right off of him and and beat him with it like a makeshift club.
"HehehehheHAHAAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHA!" Cinder suddenly burst out laughing crazily, clutching her her face desperately. "He was just a nobody! That's right! Why was I afraid! Of course I won! He was nothing! hehehahah!"
For the first time since they had met, the devotion and deep affection she felt for Cinder went cold, clinical. She could perfectly note that Cinder was retreating from reality a bit, consoling herself, trying to soothe her damaged pride and ease the terror Cobalt had inspired in her.
..After all, if it weren't for that damn bug. Cobalt would have won and put an end to all of their plans and machinations. Even half the power of a maiden hadn't been enough to give her a decisive victory, untrained and confined as they were in this room.
With the cold body of a dear friend in her arms, and her madly laughing mistress in front of her. Emerald, for just a few moments, wanted her to shut the hell up so badly she was tempted to grab one of her weapons and bury the blade in her throat.
...She made a vow internally. Before things were through, she was going to crush that stupid Grimm bug!
The dusky skinned woman looked down into the youthful, handsome face of the young friend she had made in the last month or so. A smirk on his face, even in death. Emerald bent her head down and placed a small, soft kiss atop his brow, "..I'm so, so sorry Cobalt." she whispered, her heart felt, like it was torn in two.
