Seeing a loved one suffer only to eventually lose them was a kind of pain that could not be compared to anything. Sometimes one would wish to be able to take away the agony of their beloved and feel it in their stead.
Yet, there was nothing that could be done apart from accepting their loss.
Marlena knew Regina was trying to keep her from having to watch her vanish a day at a time. There would come a time when Regina would experience pain, and she didn't want Marlena to see her going through it, especially when her fate could not be changed.
Despite knowing this, Marlena couldn't believe Regina had decided to stay here. Her eyes welled up as she tried to reason with the demoness.
"But Mother, I don't have much time to be with you. A few weeks was already too little. How can you cut it short…when did you decide to stay?"
