"I don't understand. Why?" Kyrah was distressed. Was there any reason for a deity to lose his immortality apart from… "You didn't do anything wrong. You have never done anything that wasn't for the good of the realm of mortals and you are the most selfless god I know. Why would this be happening to you?" 

Elifur nearly couldn't believe his ears. "You think I don't deserve it? Do you believe your words, Kyrah?" He held up his hand that had stopped bleedingbut was yet to heal. "If a little prick can take this long, how mortal have I become? Pick a wrong. Helping you cover up for what you did a thousand years ago? Trying to get rid of anything we knew fate was throwing in your way as a result of your actions? Hypnotising a mortal for your sake?"

"None of those things was my fault! I was only trying to save my skin. What's wrong with that?" Kyrah was defensive.
