“I’ll walk in first, everyone else flank out.” My father tells everyone. We all nod our head in agreement. The door creeks open, dust falls off the sides of it. You can tell it’s been years since this door has been used, and people have been in this tunnel.
In front of us is two hallways, one goes to the left and the other to the right. My father negotiates with the Beta and Gamma, trying to figure out which direction to go in.
“You think Aren’s alright?” Christian asked me. In our friend group Aren and Christian are closer together, than I am with the both of them. He worries about her sometimes, and her about him.
“It’s Aren, she’s the toughest girl I know. She’ll be fine.” I assure him.
“Ok 1st group follow me, while the 2nd group follow Henry. The 3rd group will stay down here, just in case something goes wrong.” Me, Christian and Zeta all go over to the 2nd group. We all say goodbye to each other and split off.
Going down to the hallway to the right, there’s nothing to be for a while. On the way we did see a skeleton. Vet did mention that some Khans escaped through these very tunnels, from the looks of it some didn’t get out. Above us I can hear voices, very distinct voices it sounds like Quinneth’s.
“Do you guys hear that?” I say pointing above me.
“Yeah, sounds like Quinneth’s voice. Guess were above the prison.” says Christian.
I step forward in front of the group, eager to get Quinneth and run up out of here. Before my hands reaches the door, my father stops me.
“What do you think you're doing?” His eye brows lift with suspicion.
“Uh going to get Quinneth.” He shakes his head.
“Son, we can’t just walk in. I’m sure they have tons of guards that would kill you instantly. We’ll send in a few warriors in then they’ll clear the path.” As I see the look on my father’s face, I realize how he’s right. My hand moves slowly from the door handle, understanding where he’s coming from.
Three of our best warriors get their guns and sword ready, ready to jump at any moment to kill someone. The door opens up and they disappear inside, I couldn’t even see what was on the other side due to my father blocking the view. We lean up against the wall, waiting for the signal to go in.
I’ve never had to wait so long for something, my fingers tap impatiently against the concrete walls. Looking down I can see a name written out, it says Bethany. That must be the name that belongs to the skeleton I found walking in. She must have been waiting to be saved and sadly wasn’t. It was hard years ago living in the werewolf world, Sasha’s father was trying to kill any and every one does do him and his family wrong.
I’m suddenly taken out of my thoughts by the sounds of screams on the other side of the door. A neck cracks and a sudden bang hits the door. Sounds like someone was thrown against it. Then instantly. . .silence. We all look at each other, trying to figure out what was going on over there. Obviously, people were dying, but who’s people were they.
A few seconds later, the door opens up. Two of our warriors stand there, blood is all over them as a couple of dead bodies decorate the ground floor. “You all can come through.” said one of the warriors, Elliot. Elliot is one of the new warriors, tall and strong.
I usher through the crowd, ready to get to Quinneth. In front of us is a flight of stairs. My feet pump erratically on the ancient stairs. I can hear the others following behind me, the eagerness to see her radiates through me.
Arriving on the floor, I see a bunch of prison jails. The first one on the left I look to see two girls laying on the ground. One is asleep and the other is writing on the wall, her big hair crowds her face. It’s Quinneth, it’s really her. Before I walk forward a hand raises to my shoulder, it’s Zeta.
“Let me go, make sure no one is lurking. Elliot and the others said they took out some, but maybe one for two come along.”
“I’m not letting you g-”. Zeta pushes me aside and walks forward, god she never listens to anything. She lurks against the wall, waiting for someone to come out. Around the corner, I see a woman come. Zeta grabs her by the shoulder and throws her against the wall, the woman struggles under Zeta’s strength.
Zeta pushes the pressure point on her shoulder and the woman faints to the ground. Damn, that was fast. She ushers for me to come over to her, behind me follows Christian and the others.
“Quinneth?” I ask quietly. Her head lifts up, those chocolate brown eyes bore into my black ones. She looks tired, and a little dirty but her beauty shows in all of it. Off to the side I see Katana, it’s been years since I’ve seen her. Her hair is still long from when I remember It and that scar, she got from falling off the balcony still resides on her left leg.
Quinneth crawls across the floor and wakes her up. She instantly jumps up in a fighting stance, once she sees me her eyes soften.
“Alex.” She musters out. The word came out raspy, I could tell she hasn’t drunk any water in a while. Her hands clasp against the rusty jail bars.
“Yeah, it’s me. I’m going to get you guys out of here.” Zeta grabs the eye from the unconscious woman and hands it to me. I immediately unlock the cell and let them out. I run in quickly and wrap Quinneth in my arms.
“Alexander, how did you find me.” She whispers in my neck. I let go of her and runs my fingers through her curly hair. It’s all bunched up together, like tangled wires.
“I heard your message, Quinn.” Her eyes widen and she looks towards Katana.
“I’d knew it worked.” She says happily. I leave out of bliss and come back to reality. Realizing we are in Oslow, Sasha’s territory I have to get us out of here, and quickly.
“We need to get out of here before your cousin has our head on sticks.” I tell Katana, she helps me pick up Quinneth and we head the way we came in.
“Zeta, we meet again.” Quinneth says to Zeta. She smiles at her and pats her on the shoulder.
“Yep, now let’s get you out of here so we can meet another time.” Before we leave the jail, Quinneth stops us just as we get to the stairs. I give her a weird look, trying to figure out why she’s stalling us.
“What’s wrong Quinn?” She looks behind me and points to another jail cell. In their lays a guy with black hair and grey eyes. “Who the hell is that?” I ask.
“That is Leo. He’s a radical that was locked up by Sasha, we have to free him.”
“Wha- no, the plan was to save you and Katana. Not you, Katana and weird dude I don’t know.”
"He was the one who gave the idea of channeling you."
Her eyes plea with me, I let out a sigh. “Fine, I’ll get him.” I leave Quinneth with Zeta and Katana, while unlocking the cell and letting out this Leo character. “Is that all the people you want to let out or is there another stranger around here.” I ask sarcastically.
“No, that’s it. Come on let's go.” We rush down the stairs, below me hear screaming and things being slung against the wall.
“We’ve been figured out; this way isn’t safe we have to go somewhere else.” I let out a huff and head back to our previous location. “Is there any way out of here?” Zeta asked Quinneth and Katana.
“There’s another entrance at the end of the hall to the right.” Katana points out the direction as we all run behind her.
We go down many of hallways until we see an entrance leading out. Going out the front doors fresh air hits our faces. It’s never felt so good before. Me, Christian, Zeta, Katana and Leo all make a run to the woods. Before we can even make it out the sector were instantly surrounded by guards. They stand ready to kill us at any moment, oh god. Quinneth clutches onto my shirt, scared of what’s going to happen next.
In the woods, we see a person coming out. With the mysterious person comes a bunch of others. A scar decorates her face, as a smirk comes on her lips. It’s my greatest enemy, Sasha.
“Long time no see.”
