Chapter 98: The First Power

Entering into the pack house, I go in the direction that Skipper told me down to the dungeons, well prison.

I’m scared to think of what she will say, will she have the answers or refuse to talk to me. Alexander said she was a red wolf, even as strong as an Alpha and from what he tells me Alpha’s are supposed to be the strongest. I know that Sasha won’t hurt me, if she wanted to, she would have at the shop, well not in front of Ida though like in an alley.

I remember when our hands touch, she had a weird look in her eyes, maybe there was a piece that she has. For the past few weeks, I’ve been going through the books and have only found like one piece of information.

In front of the tall titanium doors, stand two big guys. They have to be at least 6ft tall, and their muscles could crush me like an orange on a hot summer's day. I’ve never been good at lying or convincing people. Plus, I’m a human won’t they be able to figure it out, hopefully they don’t hurt me.

“What do you want?” One of the tall guys ask. I can’t see his eyes, but I can tell he’s scanning over me. What the hell do I say?

“I’m. . .supposed to bring down food to one of the prisoners. I think her name is Sasha.” They both look at each other, then me. If they buy my lie, this will be the best thing yet.

“Ok, where’s the food then?” Damn it, if you tell a lie make sure it makes sense to the situation. Wait, I remember that before I came here Alexander stuffed a Twinkie in my jacket pocket. His mother doesn’t like that he eats them so he gave it to me, really, he forced me to have it.

“Here it is, just a snack they don’t want her to have too much energy.” My hand flaps around the Twinkie. “I was sent by the Alpha; you don’t want to deny me you know how angry he gets.” They work it over in their heads. “Also, she has period cramps so I brought tampons.” Tampons sling from my pocket, thank you time of the month.

Opening the titanium door, the noise rings throughout my ears. Damn, they really don’t want anyone leaving the prison, and I don’t know how they would the doors look tough and heavy. Looking down in the prisons, there’s a long path of stairs that lead to what I hope are the jail cells.

“Are you going to go.” The guys ask rudely.

“Don’t be rude- I'm going.” I snark back. Stepping down the first step I grip the railing in between my hand. Below me I can hear yelling and screaming, my feet halt on the stairs. I jump in fear once the tough door shut behind me, the only light that emulates are the ones on the wall. The smell down here is rank, do they even clean down here?

After stopping and going down the stairs I finally reach the prisons. To the left a guard sits on a wooden chair, a magazine sits on the base of his chest while slob slips down the corner of his mouth. So much for doing his job.

I walk down the long hall of cells, men and women lay on the ground. One woman is rocking back and forth, singing some hymns. Another guy is clanking a cup on the cell bars, a yellow liquid spews out of it, I really don’t want to know what’s in there.

“Hey cutie, you want to have a good time.” A man with rotten teeth asks me. I cower into myself, scared of what he’ll do. Even if he’s in a cage he’s a werewolf.

“No thank you.” I whisper to myself. Another voice echoes throughout the dark and mundane room.

“Leave her alone Clint, she’s already spoken for isn’t that right Lotisia.” With the split of light that comes through the one window, it shines on the person I came down here looking for, Sasha.

Her once clean, curly hair is now matted to her face, her lips are crusty and bare. It’s like looking at a different person.

“My name is Quinneth.” My hand clutches on the bars, grime sticks to them. Really, they can’t bring a maid down here or something, hell I'll do it.

“No, it’s Lotisia. It’s your given name- no one told you?” My eyebrows furrow at her, what is she talking about?

“Uh no. Lotisia. . .like Lotus?” She nods her head.

“These jokes never told you of your history, or your purpose.” Her dirty finger nails claw against the cracked pavement under us. I can see bags under her eyes, as tiredness overcomes her.

“They're not jokes, don’t say that about them.” In a flash of light, she went from being hobbled on the floor to standing in front of me. Once her hand touches the bars a loud shrill escape her chapped lips. “Are you ok?” I pull her hands towards me, but she snatches them away from me.

“Damn Wolfsbane, they laced the bars. Assholes, when my people come and get me, they’ll regret it. Why are you down here anyways, doesn’t your mate know your down here?” I shake my head. “Of course, if he knew you wouldn’t have made it on the first step.”

“I have questions and you’re the only person who can answer them.” A small smirk plays on her face, she’s probably glad to be needed.

“And why would I do that for you?”

“Because you’re a nice person, and this has something to do with you I know it.” She sits back down on the ground; a few minutes go by and she says nothing. Silence baths the air. I have to find a way to get her to talk, oh yeah, I got something she may want.

“Are you hungry?” Her head jerks up at me, I can see the pain in her eyes.

“You know I am.” I pull the Twinkie from my front jacket pocket.

“Tell me what I want and you can have this.” I wave the Twinkie in front her face, her eyes fixate on it not being able to look away. The Twinkie holds her captive.

She reaches out the grab it, but I snatch it back to me. “What a tease you are Lotisia. Fine, ask away.”

“Ok.” I sit down on the ground, ignoring the bugs that run by. “First thing is the visions, when you came into the shop our hands touch. When they did touch, I saw three different things, some bloody hands, four girls in a tomb and an oak tree. So far two have come true, except for the girls in the tomb.”

“The visons are to. . .help you along the path you need to be going on. The first two are crucial events that lead to the last vision which is the four girls in the tomb.” Unwrapping the Twinkie, I break off a piece and give it to her. She greedily takes it from me, the Twinkie is devoured in a matter of seconds.

“Were the girls in the tomb from the Salam Witch Trial?” She nods while staring at the Twinkie in my hand. “That’s great to know. That leads to my next question. Who are the girls anyways? I’ve gone to the library and looked for them in the books, but no avail.” I break off another piece and toss it to her.

“There not in the textbooks. They were The First Power.” Was all she said.

“The First Power. . .you're going to have to explain more.” She finishes up the Twinkie and starts to talk.
