Chapter 4: Chapter 3: Trouble along the way

Annabeth and Ark headed for the cabins casually passing by some places along the way.

They passed by the sand pit causing the kids who were playing with the satyrs to stop and look over, some nudging other campers and murmuring among themselves, questions like "Is it him?" were thrown which Ark was able to hear, the camper and the satyrs all wore the same shirt, an orange shirt with the words "CAMP HALF-BLOOD" were on them.

Ark didn't mind the campers and kept his calm as he walked beside Annabeth.

As they kept walking, Ark saw a few more places, Annabeth took a glance at Ark and saw him looking over with curiosity so she decided to explain.

They passed by the strawberry fields and Annabeth followed up an explanation.

"It's where we get the fund to keep the camp up" she said.

Furthermore, she explained that Mr.D which was the man earlier had the ability to make fruit-bearing plants to grow and mature quickly when he was around them, this confirmed his guess that the man earlier was indeed one of the 12 Olympians, Dionysus, the god of wine and a few more of some things Ark had read from somewhere but had forgotten as the gods had a lot of titles and domains that they govern.

After walking for a bit more, they arrived near a place that seems to be the archery range which caught Ark's interest.

Seeing his expression yet again, Annabeth spoke up to explained

"That's the archery range where the campers practice archery" she said.

Hearing her say so, an idea pop out of Ark's mind, he wanted to try archery, to be more precise, he wanted to test out his bow.

"Can I try it out?" he raised a question toward Annabeth.

"You can do that some oth- HEY!" Annabeth was stopped mid-sentence.

It was because before she was done with what she was saying, Ark had already walked towards the archery range.

Annabeth tried to stop him but Ark already arrived before she could do anything to stop him.

Ark entered causing the campers who were practicing archery to stop what they were doing and looked towards his direction, curious due to the unfamiliar face, he was also the only one wearing different clothes from the campers.

Ark didn't mind it and quickly searched for bows, he was planning to compare the difference between a normal bow and his bow.

Soon after, he found where the bows are placed and quickly made his way towards it, ignoring the stares of the campers he grabbed the bow and some arrows, after which, he found himself an empty target.

At this point in time, the campers where already murmuring among themselves, curious about the newcomer who entered the range as though he owned the place, some were asking who he was and some were looking at him as though making fun of him, they thought he was trying to impress everyone and expected him to fail, resulting in him embarrassing himself.

In fact, they were right, showing off is also part of the reason as to why he wanted to try archery, he concluded that if he really transmigrated and all of this wasn't just a dream then he better be ready to show what he got to shut the campers up, after all, from the story, he knew how they acted, as demigods they were crude and barbaric as though they want to pummel anyone who's weaker than them.

Ark strung the bow string a few times to find out how much strength he could use to pull it with as he had gained inhuman strength and was afraid to break the bow.

He took an arrow and placed it on the bow, getting ready to shoot, he pulled the string.

He breathed deeply and calmed his nerves, exuding a calm vibe.

Seeing him pull the string, the campers stopped murmuring causing the air to be filled with an eerie silence.

Annabeth saw what Ark was doing and suddenly flared up.

"Y-You! Stop it right there" she said while walking towards him as if she was ready to give him a good beating, however, before she could reach him, Ark released the bow string.

*Thwang*

The arrow flew straight towards the target, Annabeth stopped in her track and looked towards the target.

*Thwack*

The arrow accurately hit the bullseye as it planted itself to the target with a loud sound.

*Gasp*

The audience gasped in surprise, they did not expect a newcomer to hit the bullseye in their first try, they didn't even expect him to hit the target at all.

"M-Must be beginner's luck" a camper refused to believe it.

The sentence caused the other campers to react, murmuring among themselves once again, some agreeing with the camper who said the sentence and nodding their heads, others were conflicted.

Annabeth looked back at Ark and was about to go ahead and drag him out of the archery range when Ark let go of his grasp on the bow making it fall to the ground.

*Tak*

As the bow hit the ground, something occurred.

The wind stirred within the archery range, a strong gust appeared causing the campers to cover their eyes, their hair were dancing with the wind, this included Annabeth.

At the center of it all was where Ark stood, a bow different from before had unknowingly appeared within his grasp.

Suddenly, the wind calmed but was replaced with an extremely oppressive feeling that quickly disappeared.

They looked towards the source where the feeling came from only to find Ark holding a different bow in his hand, it was a long bow which was almost as tall as a person, its body glimmered with a cold light, its color was gray-steel, it seemed sturdy yet heavy,

The campers were confused and were frightened at the same time, the heavy feeling remained in their heart.

Annabeth was the most affected, she felt as though she was facing a powerful creature that could crush her like an ant, her legs almost broke down but forced herself to keep standing.

Ark on the other hand which is the center of all the attention is sweating bullets and was confuse.

He was confused because of two things, one was that right as the bow appeared, the dragon's eye forced itself to activate which caused the oppressive feeling earlier to appear, fortunately he had time to react and was able suppress it, the other reason was that he expected the bow to be covered in flames, after all, he had the fire dragon-bone strengthened longbow, yet what he was holding was simply a dragon-bone strengthened longbow.

Ark threw his confusion away and focused, he grabbed an arrow to put on the bow then pulled the string, compared to the bow earlier, the string of the longbow released quite a strong resistance so he had to put much more strength than earlier in order to be able to properly shoot.

Feeling that it was quite enough, Ark released the string.

This time, the bow did not release any sound.

*Swish*

However, the arrow flew as it whistled as though it was piercing the air.

The arrow approached the target extremely quick and as it did.

*Boom!*

The impact was so strong that something like an explosion occurred.

The arrow had pierced through the first arrow that was shot earlier and made a large hole on the target, further ahead, dust rose and as it cleared, an arrow could be seen buried deep in the wall.

The various onlookers were flabbergasted, the series of action happened so quickly that it was impossible to believe, yet they were forced to believe it as they all looked at the arrow half-buried within the wall.

"W-What was that!?" someone blurted, and as though it was a chain-reaction, all the camper were making a commotion.

Annabeth who was snapped awake from her shock quickly turned her head away from the arrow and looked at the person who did it all, the longbow was nowhere to be seen.

The person himself looked calm but within he was panicking, it was because he didn't expect it to be so strong and he knew that he could've pulled harder if he wanted to.

*Galloping sounds*

*Footsteps*

Galloping sounds along with multiple footsteps was heard as more campers and satyrs appeared, the most noticeable figures were that of the centaur, Chiron along with Mr. D, their faces painted with shock at the scene.

At this moment, the other campers had already snapped out of their initial dazes and was nervous to see Chiron and their camp director, they didn't know what would happen.

"Who is responsible for this!?" Mr. D asked, infuriated.

The campers who had seen everything that happened simultaneously turned their heads toward Ark's location.

Ark kept his calm but inside he was in a mess.

'Oh shit, I'm totally dead' he thought as he proceed to think up of an excuse to use.

Following the sight of the campers, Mr. D's expression turned grave.

At this point, Chiron stepped for and looked at Annabeth who was looking at them.

"Annabeth, is that true?" he asked to which Annabeth replied with a nod.

He then turned his gaze towards Ark.

He let out a sigh and spoke up once more, this time, targeted at the onlookers.

"Alright, nothing to see here! Go back to what you were doing" he simply said and spoke to Annabeth once more.

"Annabeth, continue guiding Ark to cabin eleven" he instructed then turned around to go back along with Mr. D.

"Y-Yes sir!" Annabeth replied.

She then grabbed Ark and dragged him out of the archery range then toward the cabins.

Along the way, they received stares from the campers, Ark payed no heed to it.

He was more troubled about the fact that he probably won't be allowed to try out his halberd for the day.

They saw the canoeing lake, the stables, the javelin range, the sing-along amphitheater, the arena, and the mess hall, Annabeth remained quiet the whole time until finally arriving at where the cabins are.

There were a total of twelve cabins, nestled in the woods by the lake, arranged in a U-shape with two at the base and five on either side.

The cabins differed from one another, their only similarity lying on the fact that there were numbers made of brass above the door, odds were on the left side whereas evens at the right. Number nine had smokestacks like a tiny factory. Number four had tomato veins on the wall and a roof made out of grass. Seven was made out of gold which reflected the sunlight. All of them faced a commons area about the size of a soccer field with Greek statues, fountains, flower beds, and a couple of basketball hoops.

The field's center had a huge stone-lined firepit. The flame raging as someone kept tending to it to keep the fire alive.

Ark looked at the pair of cabins at the head of the field, which he figured to belong to Zeus and Hera as it had been stated at the story, looking at it, it indeed looked like it hadn't been used before.

He looked over cabin number five which was crudely painted in red as though the one responsible got too lazy to do his job so he just splashed the paint on it, within were a bunch of rough girls and boys either arm wrestling or arguing with rock music as their background music. The loudest of them all was a girl around the age of thirteen and fourteen, she had a long, brown, and stringy hair, she sneered at Ark. The news of Ark's stunts at the archery range haven't fully spread to the whole camp.

Annabeth led Ark to cabin eleven which looked worn down compared to the other cabins, over the doorway was the symbol of Hermes, a wing poled wrapped by two snakes, it was crowded with people, both boys and girls, the bunk beds weren't enough so there were sleeping bags on the floor.

As they entered the cabin, the tenants looked over, sizing Ark up with their stares.

Annabeth stepped fort and announced.

"Ark, this is cabin eleven" she said.

"Regular or undetermined" someone spoke.

"Undetermined" she replied.

Hearing her answer, the tenants groaned as though Ark was unwelcomed.

This time, a guy older than the rest stepped up and spoke.

"Now, now, campers. That's what we're here for. Welcome, Ark, you can have that spot on the floor over there" he said as he pointed on an area on the floor.

"This is Luke" Annabeth introduced, a tinge of redness could be seen on her face.

Ark glanced at her and raised a brow. Although he had expected it, but he was quite dissatisfied at her change of attitude.

Seeing Ark looking at her, her face hardened and continued.

"He'll be your counsellor for now" she said.

"I see" Ark replied flatly, he was cautious of Luke as he know that he was the antagonist of the story.

At this point, Luke interjected.

"You'll be staying here until you become determined" he said.

"Which I take would be soon or never?" Ark replied.

"Err.....Yes" Luke confirmed.

A weird atmosphere permeated the air.

After a while, the weird atmosphere was broken by no one else but Annabeth as she spoke.

"Why don't we got and check out the volleyball court" she said as she dragged Ark out of the cabin.

As they got out and walked towards somewhere, Annabeth raised a question.

"Where you that one that killed the Minotaur?" she asked.

"No" Ark rejected.

He had no intention of taking credit and plan to give it all to Percy.

The two were silent for a moment before someone yelled.

"Well! A newbie!"

It was the loudest ruffian at cabin five earlier, she had three other girls accompanying her from behind.

"Clarisse" Annabeth said as she let out a sigh.

"Why don't you go polish your spear or something?" she added

"Sure, Miss Princess, so I can run you through with it Friday night" Clarisse replied.

Annabeth said something in Greek which surprisingly, was understood by Ark, it was a curse akin to saying "You don't stand a chance".

"We'll pulverize you" Clarisse replied, her eye twitching as though she was unsure that she could follow through with the threat.

'After all, war is not all about brawns' Ark mused.

Clarisse turned to look at Ark and raised a question.

"Who's this wimp?" she asked.

"Ark, meet Clarisse, daughter of the god of war" Annabeth introduced.

"I see" Ark replied as though he didn't care.

Clarisse was somehow provoked and snarled.

"You got a problem?" she said.

Due to her reaction, Ark was struck with a naughty idea, he snickered and spoke with a taunting smile which instantly got to Clarisse's nerve.

"Oh nothing, just that you looked too frail for war, are you really the daughter of the god of war?" he said, expecting to successfully taunt the girl and he was not disappointed.

Clarisse face was boiling with red as she spoke angrily.

"Why don't you come with me and find out, punk?" she growled.

"Clarisse-" Annabeth tried to interject but was interrupted.

"Stay out of it, wise girl" Clarisse warned causing Annabeth to shrink back.

Annabeth looked pained but stayed back which Ark found more convenient.

Clarisse tried to grab Ark but before she was able to touch him, he tilted his body to dodge, he then squatted and threw a punch at Clarisse's unguarded stomach, his actions were so fast the she failed to react so the punch successfully connected.

*Cough*

Clarisse coughed out due to the pain and fell on her knees, Ark wanted to knock her out with that single punch but as he was unaccustomed to his strength not to mention it was his first time ever trying to do it, he failed to do so.

The three girls which accompanied Clarisse saw this and tried to react but Ark had expected them to take action so before they could do anything, he dashed towards them, he threw several punches which he had adjusted and successfully knocked them out.

Clarisse tried to get up but Ark already got behind her, he grabbed her arm and twisted.

"O-Ouch! Let go punk or I swear I'll kill you!" she shouted as her expression twisted.

Ark wore a cold expression on his face as he put more strength in twisting her arm.

From the sudden commotion, a crowd had gathered around to look at the show, the onlookers were shocked.

"Ahhh! S-Stop! You'll break my arm!" she shouted.

Ark spoke up with a demanding tone.

"Beg or I'll really break it" he said.

"Over my dead body!" she replied as she tried to spit at his face.

Ark tilted his head to avoid the spit, seeing that she had missed, she glared at Ark.

Of course, Ark did not plan to let it go as he twisted her arm further, bones creaking as though they were about to break and Clarisse's expression turning more twisted that before, she was experiencing an extreme pain.

"Argh! S-Stop it!" she demanded, but he still didn't stop.

"I-I think that's enough" Annabeth decided to interject but only got a cold stare from Ark causing her to shrink back.

Seeing no reaction from Ark, Clarisse became desperate.

"P-Please! Stop! I-It hurts!" she begged yet Ark still didn't let go.

Seeing this, Clarisse panicked even more so she decided to swallow her pride.

"I'll do anything! I won't pick on anyone ever again! Just please let go!" she shouted desperately.

Finally, Ark reacted, he loosened his grip causing Clarisse to fall to the ground.

Clarisse held her arm and tried to get up, she glared at Ark.

"Well then, you said it yourself, I hope that the daughter of the god of war doesn't go back on her word" he said sarcastically as he turned his back to head towards cabin eleven.

At the same time, the crowd dispersed and made way for him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At Olympus, the gods had sensed something going on at the camp so Zeus called for a meeting.

They were peeking at camp half-blood and had seen everything that had happened.

The gods were all silent, unknown as to what they were thinking.

Ares, the god of war, crossed his arms in front of his chest and snorted, showing his dissatisfaction.

here's chapter 3, if you're asking why it's as long as 3k words, it's cause I saved way earlier and thought it was too short, then got too immersed in writing that I went over my set limit which was 2k words.
