Chapter 250: Chapter 250: I HOPE THIS BE LAST

Zeharah opened her eyes and quickly was met with darkness.

She panicked, looking for her brother with distress.

She eventually touches his face, and he only grunted in pain,

"Couldn't believe we just fell."

Her brother, couldn't help but complain.

Zeharah could only sigh as illuminated the room with her glow,

Picking up the wooden splinters, on her brother's face.

"Joseph, at least be a bit thankful we're safe."

"Are we now? What if they hear us? How can we escape?"

Before Zeharah could speak further,

She heard careful steps walking away from them.

She quickly turned around, and saw a young demon,

With big red eyes, shaking upon meeting angels in person.

He held a bucket with both hands,

Filled with meat.

Zeharah then turned to the opposite direction and saw a huge cage,

Where she saw a huge monster,

looking at them with patience.

It's white eyes do not move,

And only looks at them with a creepy stare.

It's slimy texture disgusted Joseph quickly,

That he stuck out his tongue as response.

"This thing smells and looks horribly."

"Oh, Joseph. As if you haven't seen a plenty."

The kid then quickly dropped the bucket and tried to unlock the room,

But Zeharah swiftly stopped him from doing so.

The young demon quickly begged and cried to be released,

But no matter what, the angels couldn't let him go.

The young demon would definitely alert the others,

And it was such a miracle that they fell unto a monster's space,

With such huge beast, they would dismiss most of the noise,

However, they still needed cover.

"We should just kill him and take off his clothes,"

Joseph tactically joked.

The sentence quickly got the reaction he wanted from the young demon,

Who quickly promised he'd help them, if his life be pardoned.

Zeharah did not liked his brother's method,

And had surprised her that he used it as well.

For a moment, she had became worried of Joseph,

As usually, he would handle it different.

Still, Joseph did not seem to look too ruthless,

Perhaps, it was just a desperate attempt,

To test if the young boy was selfish or loyal.

But turned out, he was prone to betrayal.

The knowledge quickly put a smile on the angel's face,

And proudly looked at his sister, urging her to decide the next step.

"Letting the kid go, and having him distract the demons as we find our way,

Is obviously not the cards we should play.

We should steal his identity, or at least, one of us should."

Zeharah decided, as she crouched down to observe.

They looked keenly, the demon's physique,

And soon enough, Zeharah was able to copy him.

Joseph however, reopened one of the demon's wounds,

And when Zeharah looked at him confused,

He only sighed,

"Copy his scent."

Zeharah felt quite proud of her brother's seriousness,

And the fact that he was able to percieve things well.

She wondered if she had been doubting him too much,

But soon enough, followed him the way he wants.

Joseph then disguised as a rat,

And hid on her sister's hood.

"What should we do with the boy, then?

Someone may check the cage."

Zeharah then knew Joseph don't want to be cruel,

But he was logical enough to ask right away.

"Joseph, do what you think is best.

I wouldn't judge you, nor belittle your request.

The demon child may hold innocence than most,

But we are both aware, he is still a threat to our cause."

Joseph then whispered to her sister's ear,

"We should turn him into a sparrow so he could be free.

And when the war is over we would tell the angels of grace,

If he is worthy enough, he'd regain his body."

Zeharah nodded and turns the frightened boy into a bird,

Which frantically tries to find a hole.

Zeharah pointed to the hole up above,

And soon enough, the bird flew with no plans of coming back.

Zeharah then picked the keys on the floor,

But before she could open them, the monster growled.

"Sis, I think we forgot to feed him,"

And soon enough, their labors were fixed.

She lifted the huge bucket which she carried effortlessly,

And threw them to the cage where she saw severed limbs.

She felt herself at awe, upon realising it was human meat,

Which she had not noticed, because of the dim lighting.

She stood there, quite at shock,

Until her brother brought her back.

Still on the form of a rat, he convinced her to move forward,

And to avoid feeling too much pity,

Or it would only distract.

"Our pity are for the living for now,

The longer we stay here, the fewer we'll save."

"You are right, but even with this disguise,

The demons may still catch us,"

"Then they'll pay the price."

...

The demons soon greeted the boy (Zeharah) and asked him for a lot of things.

But felt quite confused, as to why he doesn't speak.

Mostly, the demon boy was known to be quite chatty,

But his red eyes was all that could hint.

"Are you sick? What did you see?"

An old demon soldier asked, quite suspiciously.

Zeharah did not know that the young demon could speak so freely among them,

And felt quite nervous as she recalled how the young boy sounded like.

"I...I'm just hungry, that's all."

And the older demon was convinced so.

He then quickly opened a barrel and fished out a limb.

"Eat this then, it's got a lot of meat."

Joseph swore he felt pity of his sister's wrong choice of words,

But even he, could not think of anything better.

If only they studied the boy a little more,

Then they wouldn't have this much trouble.

"I...I'm not supposed to have that much,"

Zeharah tried to put them back.

"But you've always been a glutton, Gideon.

How are you not feeling so?"

Zeharah froze when the demon's palm touched her forehead,

"But now that I'm touching you, you are very well.

Is there a she-devil you want to impress?

If so, this is not the way it should be handled."

Zeharah nodded as she looked for a way,

"Ah, but excuse me, I must away."

"Why is it so that you are in a hurry?

Haven't I told you? You are not to leave?"

"Sir Lucifer had given me exlusive orders.

He had tasked me to fetch him a secret weapon."

"You? A lowly feeder and messenger?

If it's such a weapon, he would have informed us too."

"But you are much needed here, I'm afraid.

And he wouldn't risk losing you all in the battlefield.

I, however, am disposable and little.

I can dodge most attacks, but if I die, there's little care."

"Gideon, you have gotten mature in such a short span.

I wonder just how you are.

More so, I wonder why you speak in such a lovely manner.

Who taught you that?

Are you really our little demon?"

"Could it not be that I have just grown?"

"Grown? You were reckless some moments ago.

You even whined when tasked to feed that lazy slime.

And here you are, acting so bright."

The demon soon held the boy's throat,

"Tell me imposter, what did you do to my boy?"

Soon enough, the rat on the boy's hood, slashed the demon's neck,

And before he could comprehend what had happened,

quickly lost his breath.

The demons then tried to attack the twins at the same time,

While Zeharah felt like a failure, sending them both to a dance of fire.

When she saw that someone had grabbed her brother's wings however,

She lost the light in her eyes.

She released a side of her, Joseph had only heard from others.

Of how cruel her sister could be.

She had always been ruthless, whenever they fight side by side,

But the wrath in her now,

Could not be described.

Zeharah hated feeling useless and powerless,

Especially when she have someone to protect.

She felt bad enough that she failed to be there,

The moment when Joseph lost both his arms.

And so she spilt blood everywhere.

But her rage was not enough.

And soon she felt herself needing a break.

But the numbers of their enemies themselves,

Was way too much to bear.

Joseph pitied his sister,

But none of them wanted to leave the other.

Soon, he wondered if this will be their last battle together,

And was about to say his farewells,

until he saw a familiar shadow.

Suddenly, the room felt cold.

And red eyes, began to emerge.

A zoom of darkness then seemed to strangle the demons to their deaths,

And before they could figure it out,

Their former lord, emerged from the darkness.

Belphegor was seen, holding two demons by the head,

To which he have extracted the nightmares.

He was constantly up however, as he still couldn't use his legs,

But the most noticeable about him,

was he no longer looked depressed.

Zeharah and Joseph both felt unexplainable fear upon seeing his new expression,

Smiling, yet filled with coldness.

He looked at his former allies, with no hint of remorse,

And did not even once, spoke another word.

Soon, the demons in that room, were all dead,

Killed by someone they least expect.

"Your fight with them had distracted them of my presence,

I'll say, good job. Now, we may our way."

He said, as if nothing really happened.

And continued to lead the way,

passing by his dead ex-comrades.

The lack of Beelzebub anywhere, was enough for Zeharah to put up the pieces,

And knowing their history together,

his death may have truly messed up his head.

After all, Belphegor had been accustomed to little changes for millenias,

And losing someone he sees as someone to protect, may have reminded him of his failure with Luna.

Zeharah, feeling symphatetic, decided to pat his shoulder,

Which earned her no reaction at all.

She wondered if Belphegor was trying to be stable,

Or if he wasn't really, and just don't care at all.

She wanted to speak to him, but before she could open her mouth,

Joseph bumped her shoulder lightly,

Signalling her to refrain from the act.

"Let him grieve in his own way."

Joseph whispered to her ears.

Zeharah only nodded,

But even she, was in tears.

Beelzebub was once one of them after all.

And losing him, wasn't just a single chapter to quickly mourn.

She tried to keep her sobs quiet, and thought she suceeded from doing it.

However, Belphegor, couldn't help but notice.

He glanced at her briefly,

And swore she looked different than before.

He felt his heart melt and crumble,

Seeing someone so strong, look so vulnerable.

He saw Luna and Beelzebub at once,

And hoped that somehow,

he wouldn't lose more of what he has,

or he couldn't predict what then he'd become,

If ever this wouldn't be his last.
