He had never imagined that he would be on good terms with his mate, after revealing himself to be the beast of the midlands. He had always expected that Unar would reject him, which was why he hadn't ever tried to fight the guards when they walked into Edison's study.

Alanor knew there was no point in fighting his mate, because no son would ever want to be the reason their father didn't get to see the light of day. But Unar had done the opposite.

The young prince had embraced Alanor even when he didn't have to. He had held onto the young Wynter, like a moth to a flame, like he was worried Alanor would disappear.
