Chapter 3: Chapter 3

I know a little about him. On second thought, I know close to nothing! He is sort of a public figure but I never really took time to google him.

"He is one of the most sought after bachelors in the industry today, fun and easy to get along with, and aside from his good looks, that guy's got a good head between his shoulders," Marco's words echoed my mind.

I shook my head at the thought. I got up and opened my laptop to check on him. "A little stalking on the guy who had me smiling as I wake up won't hurt, right?" I grinned. So there. I typed his name and I literally felt my jaw fall as images of him flashed on my monitor.

An architect.

Cosmopolitan Hunk.

Runway royalty.

Plus numerous commercials, music videos, and magazine covers.

Seriously? He's perfect. A perfect recipe for disaster. Considering my past and my jealous tendencies, pushing it forward will be like committing suicide. So I shrugged off the idea of knowing him, AT FIRST. All thanks to Marco's convincing power, I sent Chris a damn message as a starter.

Our conversations started from the usual hi's and hello's which later turned into updates of our whereabouts and whatnots. A month after, we were calling goofy names and making fun of each other. He often dropped hints of meeting with me, like, picking me up from work or having random talk over coffee.

Our talks flow naturally. You know that feeling when you do not need to put on a mask just to impress someone? And the feeling about someone who impresses you without him knowing it? Things seem lighter whenever he's on the other line. And before I knew it, I found myself smiling like an idiot because of what happened yesterday.

It's 7am so I stepped out from my thoughts and fixed myself for work.

I work as an office assistant in one of our branches here in Manila. My family owns a number of hotels in the country. My dad, as humble as he always is, wants me to start from the bottom; which is a good thing for me to know even the tiniest of details in the industry I have to involve myself in someday. I can hardly keep track of myself, and I'm sure that running a company will not be easy for me.

I am interested in our business and I swear that I'll do anything to excel. But most of the time, I suck at it! (Laughs) I admit, I don't have the innate ability in business like my mom and dad but I'm working on it. Though no special treatment is given to me at work, everyone has been helpful and nice to me since day one.

My 9-5 job is my training ground. It is not boring but most of the time, my days are uneventful. Purely work, to proper name it. I loosen up through writing and music. If effort is needed in the business world for me to stay right on track, words and melody seem to come out from my system as natural as breathing. They are triggered by either strong emotions or the lack of it. While I regularly write feature articles using a pen name, my literary works are often personally kept-- most of them unfinished for some unknown reason.

For the past few months, I've written some pieces but I can't exactly identify the emotions behind them. They were all so random; about and because of the person standing on my front door right now.

Like, right now? Chris?

I blinked multiple times as I come nearer to my house just to make sure that what I see is not a product of my imagination.

"Ash," he exclaimed playfully as soon as he saw me.

"Oh, Chris," I answered back, trying to hide my surprise.

"I figured that you'll be back from work and since it's a weekend, I...." he trailed off.

I smiled.

"I.." he laughs as he runs a hand through his hair. It's unfair how someone can still be so handsome with his hair messed up like that.

"Hmm. To what do I owe the honor of having you waiting in front of my house?" I mockingly asked.

We both laughed.

It turned out that he wanted to watch a movie with me.

"I don't know if you'll agree to go out with me again. So yeah. I think this will do. You know, wherever you feel safer," he said without a pause. Do I read it right that he's a bit nervous?

"Are you serious?" I laughed hard this time. For real.

"You're making fun of me."

"I'm not."

"You do."

"Tch. Whatever!"

"Ask Marco to come if you want."

"Better. I'll call him."

This guy. He makes all the butterflies in my stomach come to life. I feel giddy inside but there is something about him that makes me feel comfortable. Like we've known each other before. Like we've been long- lost-who-knows-what.

As for Marco, he can't come because, according to him, he's on some weekend getaway. Tch, I know you better, bastard. I smiled at the thought.

So now, I am stuck with this bachelor who can't seem to get enough of my snacks.

"Hey Mister! Will you choose a movie first before you eat up everything?" I teased. "And I wasn't informed that this is a picnic." I added as I ran to my room to change clothes.

"We'll watch whatever comes to mind, okay? You better be quick," he shouted, laughing.

I washed my face to remove my makeup and hurriedly changed into loose white shirt and maong shorts. I let my hair down to appear laid back, just like him. That guy. What on earth does he has to make me enjoy his company this quick? And why am I letting this happen? I silenced my thoughts and went back to the entertainment room.

We end up watching Gone Girl. We were able to choose it randomly after getting the sum of the number each of us has given, and playing the movie corresponding that number on his list. This guy has a way of doing things. And it's actually, well, cute. It's a good thing that we both haven't watched it yet.

We enjoyed the film, that I can tell. We even had a deal on what really happened to Amy, the wife who mysteriously and suddenly disappeared. It's actually a thriller but we can't stop laughing because of our own made up scenes for the movie.

"That was great! But I think my plans are better," he stated proudly.

"Seriously? You do think that Amy should have framed his husband to go to the woods so she can shoot him with an arrow? Hunger Games feels, huh?" I laughed, almost out of breath.

"You're getting used to making fun of me, you crazy girl," he smirked.

"What did you say, Mister?" I come nearer, playfully teasing him

"You don't know what ..."

And I kissed him on the lips, stopping his words. Oh. My. God. What has gotten into me?

He smiled mischievously.

"You don't know what effect you have on me, don't you?"

I stared at him, still shocked from what I did. This is so not me.

"You make me feel at home, like I can be myself. Nothing is ever expected with you around, Ash."

I smiled at him.

And he pats my head, making a mess on my hair.

Are things happening too soon?
