Chapter 2: Introduction

Or was I?

As soon as that bastard's bullet bored through my skull, something that should've killed me instantly, I quickly jerked up from a lying position, as if awoken from a terrible nightmare. Instead of the usual confusion that followed a nightmare as the dreamer tries to differentiate reality from dream, my thoughts were crystal clear. It was easy because there was only one.

'What the fuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkkk'

I could remember the preceding events clearly. I had gotten a promotion, went to celebrate it, started talking about anime with a random guy who then shot me in the head. That was what happened, right? So why in the ever-loving fuck was I in a queen-sized bed?! And who's Appartement was this? With every second that passed, more and more questions started emerging. Why am I alive? Who's Appartement is this? Why is their taste so bland? Are they just boring or too broke to even afford a nice plant?

"Alright, questions come later, Adam. Just breathe." I told myself.

A few seconds later, I had finally calmed myself. Queries about Questionable design choices come later. The biggest question was obviously how my head did not have more holes than God intended. To answer that, I had to look hard at the events preceding my not-demise. Before that handsome but in hindsight quite suspicious bastard seemingly shot me we were talking about...

"Don't tell me, did I get fucking isekaid into the my hero academia world?"

I half expected some omnipresent being to answer my question, but it seemed I was not that lucky. Thankfully, what happened next cleared up most of my doubts.

BOOM! A loud explosion occurred outside, followed by a shockwave that moved the lightbulb hanging from the ceiling ever so slightly. It seemed something big was going on.

I quickly stood up from the, admittedly, quite comfortable bed and ran to the window at the other side of the room, in my full naked glory.

Pulling the curtains open, what greeted me was a large, mushroom-shaped cloud, from which emerged a large green man with more tentacles than face. The tentacle man jumped a staggering height of 30 meters (about 100 feet) before landing on one of the many ten-story buildings that filled the city. He then proceeded to jump from rooftop to rooftop with the speed of an average sports car as he fled the scene he undoubtedly caused.

These two feats were already things I thought humans were incapable of doing. Compared with the man's unusual appearance, it was safe to say I was not in my original world. What made me sure of which dimension I had arrived at was what happened next.

Following tentacle face's emergence, two colorfully dressed men dashed out of the smoke, coming to rest on top of another rooftop before giving chase at a monstrous speed even faster than tentacle face. As they sprinted after their target, they screamed at the top of their lungs phrases such as: "stop right there, villainous scum!" and "you're not getting away this time!" etcetera.

After watching the inhuman trio disappear in the sea of buildings, I slowly walked back to the bed, not even bothering to close the curtains, before violently starfishing on its soft surface. As I stared at the lightbulb, still slowly swaying left and right, before taking a deep breath.

"Well, I've watched enough anime to know where I am. Sigh, maybe I should've told that bastard I wanted to go to a slice of life show. Hell, hentai would've probably been a better choice. But what's done is done, now let's decide what to do next."

As I thought about my next course of action, I remembered the last conversation I had with Luthor before he, quite literally, shot me into another dimension. He had asked me which fictional character's skill set I would want to take with me into another world. I, slightly drunk, had chosen for the abilities of Gilgamesh, one of the strongest characters in the fate franchise. While that was not a horrible choice, there probably were better options, even more so when there was a chance it could turn into reality.

"Well, let's see If the fucker at least gave me an advantage," I said as I sat cross-legged. I stretched my hand out, palm up, and focuses as hard as I could to produce at least something. At first, nothing happened, but a few seconds later, the space above my hand rippled as it took on a golden hue, an occurrence which signified the gate of Babylon coming into effect.

Instead of a weapon or artifact, what emerged from the ripples in space was a notebook. It had an entirely golden exterior, and on the front was written in bold blue letters: instructions.

Feeling rightfully confused, I quickly grabbed the notebook as the ripple dispersed. When I opened it, I noticed all it contained was one page, one side filled with text, and the other side empty. I quickly read the contents.

"Welcome! It seems you tried to use the Gate of Babylon™ for the first time! Before you go on being the king of kings, please read the following instructions.

The Gate of Babylon™ is the power to summon all the world's treasures that Gilgamesh, the king of kings, acquired in his life. It contains, quite literally, whatever you could need, and as the incarnation of Gilgamesh, you alone possess the authority to use them. The golden ripple you just witnessed is called The Divine gate. It connects the space of reality to the vault, opening a door between dimensions that allows the contents of the vault to pass through at your command. You can summon items directly in your hand or load them in midair and launch them as bullets, decimating your foes. please take note of a few special items within your collection.

Key of the King's Law, Bab-ilu

a golden key-shaped sword that connects to the treasury. It can open any door so long as it has a lock. The key is needed to summon ea, the first weapon.

ea

The first and most powerful weapon ever created, It is the most powerful object in your arsenal.

Enkidu

a chain with a golden spearhead, named after Gilgamesh's best friend. It pierces and binds your opponent. It binds those with divinity stronger.

These and many more are all your property, and you may use them as you wish. please note that you also possess enhanced strength, speed, and senses due to the divinity which you now possess.

With that out of the way, have fun!"

After reading the introduction, I closed the notebook. I looked through the window and smiled.

"Yeah. I think I will."

A/N: A lil info dump because who doesn't love those right? I know all of you already know al of gils powers, probably better than me, but this notebook thing makes sense for the story I think. lemme know what yall think. love you <3
