Percy pov
As Emma talked I felt bad for her. Her parents were ruthlessly murdered by her own sister. Her twin brother was murdered by her sister. A relationship with a twin is something to be cherished. They will protect you and always be by your side. They understand you the best. And the other way around too. The fact that her own sister ruined that relationship for her is sickening. I could tell Emma was finishing her story. "Then Seeing kyleigh triggered it again." She was saying. "Why would seeing Kyleigh trigger it?" Piper asked. Emma waited. "Because Kyleigh is your sister." Annabeth stated. "Yes Kyleigh is my sister." She confirmed. I was shocked. We were supposed to be family but she never even told us she had a sister. She had mentioned her brother but it wasn't often. "What was the secret she was talking about?" I asked.
Emma pov
I looked up at Percy and took a deep breath. I can tell them the truth or I can tell them that was the secret. If i tell them the truth they probably won't trust me anymore. If i lie i will feel guilty and the truth will probably come out one way or another. "I know what you're thinking. Just tell the truth." Emily said in my head. I looked over at her. "Please" she finished. "Fine." I answered. Emily let out a sigh of relief.
"You guys really want to know?" I asked meekly. "Yes." Annabeth answered. I looked around and saw everyone nodding their heads. "Fine. but just remember. This was years ago I never did any damage and would never do it again." I started. "When I was in Tartarus the first time I was about to be killed when Tartarus appeared. He asked me to join their side and I said no." I looked up and everyone looked relieved.
"But. He promised that they would bring back my family and that I wouldn't have to see my sister. I was desperate to see my father and brother so I agreed. Tartarus told me how to get out. I was on my way there when I was killed. I'm glad i died or i never would have met all of you and i would still be on his side." I looked up at everybody and saw that they seven were all looking at me suspiciously but Nico, Percy, and Emily all looked concerned. "You okay?" Nico asked in my head. "I guess." I answered. "We'll be right back." Annabeth said, motioning to the seven, other than Percy. The six walked out.
Annabeth pov
We walked out of the cabin and stood a couple yards away from the door. "Can we trust her?" Jason asked. "I'm not sure." I answered. "She was a spy though." Leo said. "I know but like she said she didn't do any damage." I answered. "She could be lying." Jason contradicted. "That's true but why tell us she worked for him if she was going to lie anyways. She could have easily said the secret was that Kyleigh was her sister." I answered. "She can be trusted." A voice said from behind us. I turned around and saw Emily and Percy standing there. "She has been like our sister from the very beginning." Percy started. "And she would never betray us." EMily continued. "Especially not after all we've been through." Percy said. "Maybe your right." Piper said. "We know we're right." Emily answered. "So we trust her?" Jason asked. "Yup" Leo said, popping the p. We walked back inside. Emma and Nico weren't there.
Emily pov
Why aren't they here? When did they leave? "Where are you guys?" Percy said in our heads. "Well I didn't feel like listening to them debate if they can trust me or not and bringing up my past gave me some anger to work out so Nico shadow traveled us to the arena." Emma said "Yup." Nico chimed in. "They're in the arena." I said out loud. The six looked at me. "How do you know that?" Hazel asked. "Umm. Just a hunch." I said but it came out as more of a question. Thankfully they ignored it and walked out to do whatever they do. "I'm going to the beach." Percy said. "K" I answered, and walked out.
I walked over to the climbing wall and saw a bunch of the campers over near it. I walked over to the crowd, "Why is everybody over here?" I asked Leo. He turned towards me, "because Clarisse is about to break her record of five minutes." He answered, excited. "Ok" I shoved my way to the front just as Clarisse hit the top of the wall.
I looked over at the setting. It wasn't even on the hardest setting. Clarisse jumped down in front of me. I looked and saw she had a couple burns. Everyone clapped and cheered while I just shook my head. Clarisse saw. "What. think you can do better?" She asked. I knew I could. "I can try. Pick how hard and I'll try to beat your record." She smiled smugly. "Fine. Do the hardest level." "Fine." I answered. I walked over and set it on the highest level, then I walked back over to the bottom of the wall. "Ready….go" Leo said.
I shot up the wall. In the background I could hear cheering. I jumped to the side as lava shot out where I had just been. I grabbed onto one of the ledges and pulled myself up. I jumped just as a long block of wood shot out of the wall. I landed on top of it and jumped before it could go back into the wall. A punching bag type thing came swinging towards me. I ducked. I was almost at the top. Another spout of lava came out of the wall, about to hit me. I jumped and landed on a moving platform that had been a little bit under me. I felt it about to pull back into the wall and jumped. I caught a ledge with one hand. I was dangling but I managed to pull myself up. Another punching bag thing swung towards me but I dodged it and jumped again. I grabbed onto a pole that was sticking out of the wall. I swung my feet back and forth, trying to get some momentum. Finally I had enough and let go. I did a flip in the air and landed on the top. I jumped off the top and fell towards the ground.
I tucked my head and hit the ground rolling. I landed on my feet and looked at the crowd. It was silent for a minute then everyone erupted into cheers. I saw that the crowd had multiplied till it was the whole camp. In the front of the crowd, walking towards me, were Emma, Nico, and Percy. "Awesome you just beat the all time high score!" Percy yelled over the noise of the crowd. I looked over at the clock and saw that It read, 1:23. I looked over at Clarisse. Her jaw and fists were clenched and her face was tomato red. As the crowd quieted a little I walked over to her. "Better luck next time?" I said with a smile and a sickly sweet voice. She just glared at me. I flipped my hair and walked away.
"Ooooo Emily got some sass." Emma said when we got back to the cabin i share with Jason. I laughed. "But I'm still the king of sass right?" Percy pouted. "Nope." I said with a laugh. We all laughed. "Did you see Clarisse's face? She looked like she wanted to punch something." Emma said. "She probably did." Nico said, as he laughed.
The rest of the night was spent laughing and horsing around. At dinner we got a lot of glares from the ares kids but the rest of the camp clapped and cheered when I walked in. After dinner we sang as loud as we could. It was a lot of fun.
The next day we were eating breakfast in the dining pavilion when I saw that Percy's food was blue. "Hey Percy? How's your mom?" I asked. He stopped laughing at whatever Annabeth had said and turned to look at me. "What?" He asked. "I asked how your mom was." I said with a duh look on my face. His face drained of all color and he started whacking his head against the table. "Um Perce?" nico asked. He stopped and looked back up at us. I never told her we were back." He groaned and continued to whack his head against the table. "You what!" Emma yelled. "He never-" Jason started. "no i know what he said." She interrupted, "I'm yelling because Sally could have been sending us blue cookies this whole time." That got me a little riled up to. "Your right!" I smacked him lightly on the head. "Bad Percy" I teased. He looked up at us again. "She's gonna kill me when she finds out i've been back for almost two weeks." "We should go visit her!" Emma spouted. "Agreed." I said, smiling. "Okay." He got up and walked out. Emma looked at me and I shrugged.
We both got up and followed him. We ended up at the beach and a couple feet into the water. "POSEIDON!" We yelled in unison. He appeared in front of us. "Gheesh guys you're in my domain. No need to yell." He walked up, hugged Percy, and stepped back. "What do you guys need?" He asked. "Um, I never told mom I was back." Percy said quietly. "Ooo she's gonna kill you. But what do you need from me?" He teased. "We need you to flash us to Emma's room in her castle." He said.
Emma pov
"We need you to flash us to Emma's room in her castle." Percy said, not looking at me. "Wait what?" I interrupted, "Why are we going to my castle. I really don't want to see anyone." "I know but they need to know you're alive." He answered, turning to me. "Fine." I grumbled. Just then Nico walked up. "Hey guys." "Hey" I answered, not looking away from my glare off with Percy. "Whats happening." He said. I'm guessing he meant me and Percy. "We're going to Percy's mom's house but to get there we need Poseidon to flash us there and Percys making us go to Emma's room in the castle." Emily answered. "Oh cool. Can I come?" "Sure." She answered. "If you guys are done glaring at each other some people have places to be." Poseidon said to us.
Finally we turned back to everyone. I gave Nico a small smile and turned back to Poseidon. "Ready?" He asked. "Ready." Percy said while the rest of us nodded.
We closed our eyes and Poseidon flashed us in. I opened my eyes when I felt solid ground under my feet. I looked around at my old room. Everything was dusty. It looked like no one had touched this room in eight years. They probably hadn't. The light was off so I walked forwards and turned it on. I walked slowly around the room. The books on the bookshelf were covered in dust and looked like they were about to fall apart. My desk was less dusty but the pencils and sketch pads were covered in dust. Next I walked over to the wall that was hanging with my pictures. Each one was dusty. I pulled one off of the wall and dusted it off. It was a picture of my parents and me. We had gone to Cedrics kingdom that day and were standing in front of an amusement park. I was holding a giant fluffy unicorn that I had won in one of the games. My dad was handing my mom a stuffed white bunny. We were all laughing. Tears started to fall down my face. I felt hand wrap around me and pull me close. "They were amazing people Em." Percy whispered in my ear. I just nodded and buried my head into his chest. We sat there for a couple minutes until I had calmed down enough to get up. "We should get going." Emily said, quietly. "One second" I said. I walked over to the window and looked out. The sea was calm and bright blue. I turned my attention to the little part of the village I could see. Something was wrong. I couldn't see a single person at the harbor or in the village. "Guys somethings wrong." I said to them. "What?" Emily said as she walked over. All three of them walked over. Nico hadn't ever been here before so he didn't know there were usually at least ten people on the harbor and children playing in the streets. "I don't see anything wrong." He said. "No Nico you don't get it. There's usually kids playing in the streets and at least 10 people down at the harbor." I answered. "Oh." "Hey guys?" Emily said, "What's that smoke." I looked to see where she was pointing. There was a lot of smoke coming from near Percy's house. "Percy that's near your moms house." I said, but he had already turned around and was running out the door. "Percy, wait!!" I yelled, running after him with Emily and Nico right behind me.
We chased him all the way to his mom's neighborhood, not seeing a single living thing. When we got to the neighborhood he slowed down but kept running. We caught up and were running right next to him. We saw his house and stopped. "No" Percy whispered. The house was engulfed in flames. Percy covered the house with water from the ocean. The fire stopped and the house smoked. As soon as the water was gone Percy ran in with us right behind him. "Mom" Percy yelled. No answer. "MOM!" He screamed. Still no answer."PAUL." Silence. "MOM" He yelled again. This time the silence was broken by a baby's cry. We all looked at each other, confused. Percy turned away from us and ran down what was left of the hall. We stopped and listened for the sound. It came again and we followed it to a pink door. We opened the door. The room inside looked like it hadn't been touched by the fire. The walls were pink with little tridents on the wallpaper. There was a highchair in one corner of the room and a bunch of baby proof toys in the other corner. The third corner had a diaper changing station and a wardrobe with a mirror. The last corner had a rocking chair. In the middle of the room was a white crib with baby blue sheets. In the crib was a little girl. She had dark brown hair and ocean blue eyes. Percy walked over and picked her up. She stopped crying and closed her eyes.
"Percy..There's a note." Nico said from behind me. We all turned around to look at him. He was standing in front of the mirror holding an envelope. Percy walked over and took it from him. He opened the envelope and started to read. By the time he finished reading it he had streams of tears falling down his face. He walked over to me and handed me the note. I took it and began to read.
If you are reading this then Paul and I are gone. If you are not Percy, Poseidon, Emily, or Emma please give this to one of them.
Percy. That little girl you are most likely holding is your half sister, Atlanta. She is one year old and her birthday is July 15th. When she was born we asked Hecate to enchant the room so that nothing could get in if we didn't want it to and that it wouldn't be affected by fires or the building collapsing or anything like that. We are sorry we had to leave you and Atlanta and Paul and I both love you dearly. Stay safe my sweet boy.
Emma. I hope you know you were always a daughter to me. As was Emily. You're probably wondering what happened to your kingdom. There is another note in the envelope explaining. I know you and Emily both love my cookies so i always have a batch ready. There is a box in the wardrobe full of them. I love you and please make sure Percy does not blame himself for whatever happened to us.
I had started crying and I was now in full blown tears but i didn't read anymore. I gave the note to Emily and ran over to the wardrobe. I opened one of the drawers. Sure enough there was a blue box that said "For Emma and Emily" On top. I took the box out and set it on top of the wardrobe. Then I walked over to the envelope that Percy had dropped and found the letter.
Emma when your parents died the kingdom was in complete disarray. You fixed it but were rarely seen outside the castle. A couple families left the kingdom. After you ran away the kingdom fell into even worse chaos then before. The servants and I tried to calm everyone and find you but no one could. After five years barely anybody was left. The few people that were left ruined the kingdom. They trashed houses, and graffitied walls. Eventually they got bored and left. Soon the Servants left the kingdom to find work. We stayed just in case you ever came back. Obviously you did but we are not here to explain. Amalia told me that if you ever came back I should tell you that she said that it was an honor to work for your family. Even if family pictures were a bit messy. Whatever that means.
I smiled at that. Amalia was talking about the picture in my locket. I pulled a hand to my locket and opened it, looking at the picture of my family. I looked back down at the note.
Goodbye Emma and try to stay safe.
That was it. She was gone.
