After a thousand years, a second Mandalorian came to the ranks of the Jedi. For everyone that was an incredible surprise, never had they expected that in such chaotic times, so many surprises would happen.
The only thing that made then sigh in relief was the fact that the boy was just above average in terms of power in the force, he wasn't like Anakin who in his first year of training could already show the necessary skills to be a padawan. Nevertheless, his skills and learning capabilities were truly frightening.
Master Shaak Ti was one of the few who truly knew how talented he truly was, who says that a powerful Jedi is those who can lift the heaviest of the rocks or those who have the highest Midi-chlorian count? While it has been only five years since he entered her Youngling clan, he was the only one there that gave her a special feeling, and his identity made her even more interested due to the fact that he was the only one who she thought would be capable of succeeding in her training methods.
As for the reason, it was pretty simple, the first one being the nine forms... he could use nine of them and all with the same level of mastery and still progress extremely fast. Even though he was still years away from his trial to become a padawan, his level of skill already put him on the same level as them.
What is more incredible, of those nine forms he could easily master, three of them were really special, to begin with, after years he was the first person allowed to learn the form VII...
After Master Mace Windu found him training in secret, apparently the two sparred, and based on what she heard, for some reason he could drive the lightsaber without needing to tap into his bloodlust nor the dark side, being capable of keeping himself calm and steady the whole time, while still perfectly bringing out the form's fluidity and unpredictability.
The two other forms he could also use were the dual lightsaber form, and the dual bladed lightsaber form, both of which are considered to be among the most complex and difficult ones.
But what really made him someone different, was how he could easily learn the most exotic force abilities, some of which were actually lost until he discovered how to use them on his own based on his scientific knowledge, or at least that was his explanation, unfortunately for them no matter how much he tried to explain no else managed to understand so he was basically their last inheritor.
Those force abilities were an advanced form of force heal, force phase which up to this date only one other Jedi master knew how to use, force enhancement, the advanced form of force speed, and force teleport.
Shaak Ti could only sigh thinking over this matter, because of his background and his past she was already told to keep an eye on him more than the others to ensure that he wouldn't fall to the Dark Side, but then he went even further and showed this level of talent... due to this, she was asked to double the initial amount of attention she had to give to him...
Even now as he studied alone in the library, she still had to follow him through the shadows to ensure that he would never set foot on the forbidden section, and other than that, she had to report everything he studied here, that was truly a waste of her time.
As she watched the boy studying, a Togruta girl came from the door with a light smile on her face. Seeing Tanden her smile got bigger and she sat down next to him, he however didn't respond to her actions and kept looking at the screen that showed some information on Grand Master Satele Shan.
Seeing how he did nothing when she arrived, the Togruta pouted and got even closer to him, to the point that their shoulders were already touching each other.
"For how long are you going to ignore me, Tan? I came looking for you and I'm not even greeted, you're making me feel sad."
At that moment, Tanden's face went from one of focus to that of helplessness, of their clan, she was the only one that actually tried to have any interaction with him, due to him having killing other people before and being a Mandalorian, the others were always intimidated in his presence, but this snippy girl didn't give a fuck about who he was, that was the only way he could precisely describe her actions, because of this they actually became friends quite quickly.
"Snips, can't you see I'm trying to study now, can't you bother me later?" He turned to her and asked with his eyes full of hope.
Unfortunately for him, his words actually made things worse.
"Ohoho! Are you saying I only bother you?" She got closer to his face, only a few centimeters away from him, making him gulp and back little by little in fear of what she might do, he was fierce but never did anything against a girl unless really necessary.
"What? I don't know what you're talking about, your company is the best thing in the world." He tried to force a smile but it looked like he was having a stroke.
Seeing this Snips suddenly backed away and held her stomach. "Pfft! Hahaha! Look at your face, so hilarious!"
Tanden smiled and shook his head, before focusing once more on the screen.
Noticing how she was being ignored again, she leaned her head on his shoulder and looked at the screen, seeing the picture of the beautiful woman and the text beside it, she got curious.
"What are you studying, Tan? I don't think our instructors told us to read about her."
"You're right they didn't, I'm searching about my people's story, I started with the Mandalorian wars, but many parts of the info was classified, then I found that it was related to a man called Revan, which once again was mostly classified, and then there was also a duplicate file but instead with a title before the name which called him Darth Revan, that in the end only gave me access to some information about a woman called Bastila Shan, and this one here is apparently her granddaughter, but I don't have any idea who is her grandfather, or how that connects with the Mandalorian wars..."
"Wow, how much time have you been here? I thought today we could rest without having to worry about anything, but by the looks of it, you have been here the whole day..."
Seeing his friend's worried gaze, he sighed and patted her head before answering. "Don't worry about me Ahsoka, even if it's tiring I still need to make the best possible use of my time here while I can, besides, those texts I have been reading is what allowed me to learn so many force powers, my scientific knowledge was just the foundation, without the story of the people who used them in the past, I would've never been able to learn them."
"You know what Master Yoda says, right? Lust for power can lead to the dark side, you better be careful in this search of yours for knowledge." She replied as she held his hand and played with it.
"Don't worry, so long as you're here I'm pretty sure you won't let me fall to the dark side."
Hearing this she laughed and looked at him with a smile. "True, I would have to arrest you if it happened!"
"Then, make sure it won't happen." He smiled and got back to his studies, while Ahsoka simply enjoyed her time beside him.
Seeing this, Master Shaak Ti, frowned, for once she was truly worried about the possibilities of the boy falling to the Dark Side, not only were those two clearly attached to each other, he actually found clues leading basically to the battle of Malachor V and The battle of Cathar, they couldn't let him know of the atrocities that the Jedi did with his people at the time!
...
Three years had passed by in the blink of an eye. Tanden and Ahsoka were now on board the Crucible a starship that was taking them to the planet of Ilum. Accompanying them were a group of 8 other talented Younglings who the Instructors believed to be ready for the initiate trials, Padawan Bultar Swan and Jedi Master Yaddle who recently left her duties as a member of the council, in fact, it was rumored that she would soon leave the order as well, although no one knew the truth.
There were still minutes until they could arrive at the planet, Ahsoka was occupied talking and interacting with the others, while Tanden was in the cargo hold of the ship together with Master Yaddle.
The two of them set across each other with one meter of distance between them, both in a meditative position.
"Tell me, young Tanden, what are the visions you said you have been seeing recently?" Yaddle's voice was gentle and motherly in nature, her eyes were filled with worry as she asked him.
Tanden opened his eyes and frowned for a moment, it started a few months ago after he had enlightenment from the force - an extremely rare situation - when he was practicing his meditation. "I saw great darkness, engulfing everything, obscuring the light and the cries of despair and agony that came soon after, as if something terrible was approaching, I don't know, the vision wasn't that clear..."
"I see..." She nodded with a frown on her forehead, they stayed like that for a moment, until she sighed and looked at Tanden once more.
"Tanden, tell me, are you willing to help me with a problem?"
Hearing her words, he looked at her with hesitation in his eyes, he still couldn't understand why she was so interested in his visions, or why she actually asked him to come here, to begin with, but apparently, she had her reasons.
"What do you need, Master Yaddle?"
"Do not ask me how, nor why... All you need to know is that in a few years, something is going to happen, a catastrophic event, and you will be one of the few survivors, I know this because I have already seen it, and although I can't explain it now, I know you will have something very useful when the time comes, and when it happens I want you to meet me in the forbidden section of the library, are you willing to do that for me?" Yaddle's face was a serious as it could be, the concern and even fear in her voice were obvious, such actions made even him feel afraid, if a five hundred years old force user was afraid of something, what about him who was only learning since he was four years old?
Tanden gulped for a moment, she told him not to ask, but still asked for his help? How could he trust her in this situation?
"Please Tanden, I need you to trust me this time, this concern's a matter even worse than the prophecy of the chosen one! Besides, if you help me... I can help you get what you want, the knowledge that you seek, however, I can't promise you that it will be easily obtained, there will be many trials ahead of you, and I can already tell you that your future is covered by darkness too powerful for me to pierce through..."
Hearing this he breathed a mouthful of air, and after a moment he decided. "Alright, I'll help you when the time comes."
"Thank you, now, let's go back, we should be arriving soon."
Damn, I have been studying the lore and watching some canon star wars material in order to write something here, I wonder how many of you will notice the four foreshadowings of this chapter hehe.
