Chapter 107: Chapter 107

Pearl made her way down the long flight of stairs leading to the beach to find Rhys there, under an arch covered with flowers, facing the ocean. There was an older woman who was obviously the officiant and a man, standing a few feet away, playing an acoustic guitar. Flowers were scattered all over the sand, in an aisle formation leading to Rhys, standing there in a white button down shirt without a tie and dress pants without shoes and his hair wild, blowing in the breeze. He was so beautiful. When he saw Pearl, he put his head down and sobbed, lifting his reddened eyes to her and wiping tears from his cheeks.

"Hello, pretty girl." Rhys said as she met him and took his hand.

"Hi." She said back.

The officiant began talking about love and commitment, but Pearl barely heard a word she said. She was lost in Rhys' eyes. She had never felt so much love in her life, both toward someone and from someone.

"Pearl, do you take this man as your husband, forsaking all others and loving him, unconditionally until the day you die?"

"I do"

"Holden, do you take this woman as your wife, forsaking all other and loving her, unconditionally until the day you die?"

"Yes. I do. So much so", Rhys said, kissing her.

They exchanged the rings and Rhys looked down at his, as it slid onto his finger perfectly. "This is pearl, in the ring, isn't it?", he asked.

"Yes. It is."

He smiled at her with a look of gratitude and pride, "I love it."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife, may your life together be one of joy and peace and may your home be filled with laughter and contentment, even on the bad days, and may your love always win." He smiled and kissed her again. The guitar player resumed playing and Rhys held her, slow dancing on the beach until the sun set.

After they signed all the paperwork, and thanked the officiant, they went to dinner back at the little dive they ate at the night before. They laughed and danced, having an incredible time together, and the entire bar bought them drinks to celebrate their wedding. They made their way home and Rhys helped her out of her dress, carefully unzipping the back and exposing her new nightie she had bought.

"My wife is the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on." He kissed her and walked her to the bed, never taking his hands off of her. She looked up at him and put her arms around him. He lifted her up and laid her down, lowering himself onto her. "Look at me", he said. "These eyes. I remember looking into them at that bookshop. I went there to buy a book for my mother, for her birthday, and I lost myself in the poetry section. I looked up and saw these eyes and I knew at that moment, I was found. I was so lost for so long."

She reached up and put her hand on his face.

"You're home now, my love. You're found."

And he kissed her, taking her into his arms and moving his pants down, and kicking them off. He lifted her nightie over her head and pulled her panties off. Looking into her eyes, he entered her and thrust himself forward, kissing her mouth and moving down, his breath hot on her throat. She cried out and ran her hands along his back, scratching his skin and making him moan with every graze of her nails. "My wife. My wife forever." He whispered as he kissed her between words. She felt a rush of heat move through her body as her climax came. He continued, moving more urgently, trembling when he came. He poured his orgasm into her, pumping every last drop of himself deep inside of her. They were both panting and in tears. It was the most beautiful moment of her life.

She awoke to the sun shining into the bedroom. She put on a robe and found Rhys outside with a breakfast spread from the gods. "Good morning, husband", she said, kissing him and grabbing some fresh pineapple.

"Good morning wife." He smiled. "I woke up the happiest man on the earth."

She smiled and inhaled at least another pound of fruit. Marriage worked up an appetite, she thought.

They spend the next two days on the beach, playing and swimming. The last day there, Rhys wanted to take her to town, shopping a little and enjoying the island before they had to leave. They went to a few shops, bought some wine and a photo of the island, and as they were leaving a small art gallery, they were bombarded with several cameras in their faces out on the sidewalk. Someone had tipped off the media that they were in town. It was a swarm and Pearl wasn't sure what to do. "Why are you on the island? Do own a home here, Holden? Pearl, tell us about your new single. When is the wedding?" Rhys put his head down and led them through the crowd to their car.

"I'm sorry." He said as they drove off. "Don't be. Our single was released yesterday. This is my fault just as much as yours. We don't have to apologize to each other anymore for this kind of thing." She looked at him, placing her hand on his. He smiled and drove them a diffident route back. He didn't want anyone to follow them to the villa.

They made it back and Rhys made arrangements for an earlier flight. He knew that they had to get out of there quickly. Pearl looked at her phone and saw she missed a text from John. "Our single is the number one streamed song in the country. Buckle up."
