The display was exemplary, but Herriot knew that no magic in this world—even for the two of them—would not be taking a huge toll on someone's physique. Even Larkin would fall victim to that fact—if he wasn't depending on Artie's constitution. Just earlier, she cast the same spells that Larkin would use, and it wasn't lost to Herriot. It also didn't escape him that Artie was inarguably very exhausted now.

Herriot had killed the boss and the others so he was free to leave his post. He flew straight at Artie while watching the situation underneath them.
