Chapter 77: Questions Continue
"What are you?"
The same question yet the atmosphere is different, Mike can't out of the man's pace.
Having no other choice Mike answered the same question with the same answer;
"Didn't I tell you that I'm just a human from Quezon City?" He seriously unintentionally tries to make the man suspicious to him with his answer 'I'm just a human.'
No human would dare to say that he's human because it's obvious unless your not.
Mike just said that because he thought the man will be forever suspicious of him because of his monstrous regeneration.
However...
"I'm not asking about that. You... What are you? How did you get into the deep ocean? What did you change to survive? And... Are you sure that you have sunk into the ocean in 2019?" Many questions filled the man's head as he wants to know the reason behind it.
"Wait, wait, wait... Why do you want to know that much?" It's either the man wants that power or he never met seen someone like him.
The breath deeply and answered;
"At the end of 2019, a tragic happened. Countless ships that were heading towards Japan had sunk, only a handful of people are alive..."
Hearing the man's word Mike's mind spark like he knows this story.
"According to those people they were kidnapped and they are not the only ones who had been dragged to that ship..." His tone has a tone of sadness mixed with his seriousness expressing that even he felt the pain from those people.
"They describe the suffering that they experience while in that ship. There's almost no one heard their story."
(!?) Mike knows this story yet he can't put it into words. He knows yet he didn't know like it's at the end of his thought.
"And soon after that, in 2020 a huge incident happened..."
"???"
"Do you know anything about this?"
"Nah."
"I see..." The man replies as he knew.
Moving on, he continued;
"Unknown creatures appeared from every shore of the east countries including the Philippines killing anything they see. Those people who survived already told about this creature but only a few listen to their words... I didn't take a while for our country to make a move."
"Fish-like creatures?" Mike blurted.
The man caught his words and quickly replied;
"You know any of this?" He repeated his question.
"I encountered those shits back then."
"I see." He answered with the same words. He didn't chase his statement as he continued what he said earlier;
"Soon after that everything regarding activities on the oceans has been halt... Mike is your name, right?"
"Uh-uh..."
"Speed-up volution has been made to the public in early 2021 as people starting to feel weird about their bodies..." He stops as he let the atmosphere take in a little before he opens his mouth;
"2019... You said you've been sunk into the ocean in 2019 yet you already know about speed-up evolution. 2019 was when the tragic accident happened on the ocean. Are you by chance one of the people who died in that accident?"
The crazy hypothesis the man thought would make everyone think he's off the head but this hit the mark.
Mike remembered... he remembered the hellish scene that happened in the ships as he sunk into the ocean. He can't forget the scene that was engraved in his mind.
Remembering the feeling back then Mike nods.
Mike asks a question, not a question regarding his survival but a question to someone else.
"Is there a named Sena in those who survived?"
Hearing Mike's question the man knew he hit his mark.
Unfortunately; "I don't know the names of those who survived," The man stated.
"I see," Mike replies in a disappointing tone. Even now he is still concern about Sena.
Stopping for a second the man continued;
"In 2019 the people who survived also said that they were being experimented regarding the speed-up evolution. That's where the people get the name of this so-called blessing but back then there's no one listening to them. The government nor the media didn't pin down the words of those people, people really regretted not listening to them."
"...."
"Fortunately there's a small handful of people."
"...."
"But they were the first to be a victim from those vicious monsters."
The painful story that the man had told makes Mike groan uncomfortable.
He didn't think that this situation turned worse than he expected.
Hearing the story the cold heavy atmosphere turned into a silent cold as the fire cracking can be heard not far from here.
Looking at Mike's reaction the man now totally believes what Mike had said.
(Years under the ocean, huh...)
The man look at Mike with curiosity like any human would do when they heard Mike's story they will totally ask for more.
Mike's story is something worth listening to.
It's hard to believe but what the man had seen from Mike is something you couldn't gain easily.
Sighing in giving up to find some holes in his lies and just believing in his words the man raises his hands.
"Fine I give up, I believe you." As he said that the atmosphere around them went back to normal.
Mike smiles as he gave a relieved sigh. The pressure is intense that Mike thought that he was still at the bottom of the ocean.
"So... What will you do?" question the man.
"Hmm... Oh yeah, I haven't know your name. So... uh yeah what's your name?"
"... Clint."
"Clint, huh... foreign name like mine. Anyway... I've gotten used to talking again so I'll introduce myself again... My name is Mike, my last name doesn't matter so please to meet you, Clint." Mike stretches his hands towards the man.
Hearing his half-assed joke or is it a joke? The man- Clint extends his hand forming a handshake to each other.
The two continued to talk to each other as both tell the situation from the deep ocean to the surface. Both have different life so both have a great curiosity about one another. Mike is so eager to show off what he had experienced from the deep.
Clint's face doesn't change even when he heard Mike's story like there's a hole in his heart that can't be filled with just hearing Mike's adventure.
The blue sky already turned into a bright night as stars filled the sky before they could notice the time.
