Chapter 31: Farewell Part 3
*Mike's POV*
Sinking into a deep, deep ocean. I flustered on what to do after this.
As I can't from these fate like shackles I sigh looking high at the beautiful night sky.
The dark night and the mist that swifts throughout the ocean limit the sight of any human, I who is underwater can see everything at the surface but in blurry images.
Even with blurry sight, I could tell what's happening at the surface.
It's only been a second ago since Lucas was devoured and I can't hold my breath any much longer.
I panic and tried to look for a bubble but I can't find a single one near me.
It's hard to find it because it looks transparent and it's like invisible from afar.
Trying to remember Lucas's last words I think that I might fail him.
'Mike! Live strong!'
If I panic more I might lose focus holding my lungs that are about to explode as it can't handle it anymore.
Putting my right hand to my chest where it's near to my lungs I tried to bare it more.
I look up at the surface one more time.
It was hell.
It was a scene came out from hell.
Damn... Now that I could look it from here I can see the other ships.
There are more ships other than the two I encountered earlier.
Like the two ships, all of them are in the fire as they sinking.
Because I'm underwater I can see the reason why the ships are sinking at a fast rate.
In Titanic, it takes about 3 hours for it to sink. But here it might only take about 30 minutes.
The reason is that there are somethings are pulling them.
Black tentacles like vines coming from the below pulling the ships one after another with such strength.
The only ship that's gets pulled down in one piece without much damage from the exterior except the large hole on its side is the ship that I was at.
Like the tentacles are being careful to not damage the ship.
At the ships there people panicking as they getting eaten or pulled alive into the ocean by the fish monsters with their superior numbers overwhelming the humans even with their high power weapons.
Now I get why people are not showing up after they touch the underwater because of the tentacles that are waiting for them. Not only the tentacles, but countless fish monsters are also waiting underwater. I see some people near me getting pulled but every one of them is unconscious because they didn't inhale some air in time or can't hold their lungs for a long time.
I was lucky back then when I was carrying Sena swimming towards the lifeboat without getting the attention of the tentacles instead I caught the eyes of the fish monsters. Why did it not get me back then anyway? Well... It's a question without an answer so I decided to not think about too much.
Looks like the fish monsters understood the tentacles on being careful to not break the certain ship that's it pulling as there are fewer of them boarding that ship.
(!?) I feel like my chest is getting compress telling me to gather some air. I feel bad for you if only I could only find a bubble.
My thought is certain... I can't survive for more than this.
Ah... I'm dying.
I'm still looking at the sky looking for something for my mind to distract itself from this situation.
I'm far away far from the surface as time has passed for an instant.
Squinting my eyes to look at something I found a lifeboat sailing at max speed away from here while fish monsters are chasing them. Looks like they managed to escape from the grasp of the fish monsters.
That lifeboat is I'm familiar with because I was there a moment ago. I guess this is the boss's right hand is driving the boat.
The boat smoothly avoided the obstacles that in front of him, Hm... This is quite intriguing. For someone to learn sailing the boat in such a short time in these wild waves. If I could think of a reason like Lucas had said maybe this is the effect of the speed-up evolution.
I don't know much about it but I could see the effect on our body.
Oh? At the door of the lifeboat, 'someone' jumps out. With there speed no fish monster could catch up to them so I'm sure that 'someone' deliberately jumps out.
However, as soon that 'someone' gets out of the door before that 'someone' could reach the waters, the guy, quickly restrain that 'someone' at the door.
That 'someone's' face hits the wall of the lifeboat almost reaching the waters as of the people inside the boat quickly pulls that 'someone' inside the boat.
It was an instant not only the guy fast but that 'someone' is also fast.
And in that single moment, I recognize the face of that 'someone'. Even in this blurry view, I know who is that someone in an instant.
The long black hair flailing from her head. No one in that lifeboat has that kind of feature other than one that I saved. It was Sena.
Her head still pop-outs from the door of the lifeboat struggling from getting restrain.
"Mike!" I can barely hear her faint voice from here. Amazingly, I can even hear her from here.
I can hear a faint male voice but I don't know who might it be so I decided to ignore it.
Ah... She was been pulled inside. This time she didn't pop out her head anymore showing that she was now been fully restrained.
After seeing that I sighed in relief.
(*Pew* I got scared in a second there.)
Well, she doesn't need to risk her life for me anymore.
She doesn't need to involve her life into my childish dream.
I mean she has a job yet she still focuses her time on me! What an angel!
After this, they will go home and will live a peaceful life without me.
Ah, even this is bad for my heart when many died because of me, at least I saved Sena.
Yeah... Think positive, Think positive.
I'll just close my eyes and stop resisting for me to die peacefully.
I bet everyone is jealous of me dying this peaceful.
I know how you feel... Struggling to the bitter end but got eaten alive is something anyone wouldn't want.

I release my hand from my chest putting it onto my head. Scratching my head I thought it might help.

This is something impossible if someone told me to survive here in underwater.
I look at my left foot where tentacle is grabbing me.
Based on the strength of the tentacle can be measured when I saw it pulling the ship down so it's seriously impossible forcing it to release me.
I don't know if this tentacle will release its grip from me as it might take days or weeks but I'm not planning myself to die just because of that!
No matter where I look I don't see any possible way to get out of here.
[Lived strong!] As I was in the middle of thoughts the voice suddenly mimics Luca's last words.
(You shit. What are you anyway!? You just can't be my inner thought! Even my inner thought is more discipline than you are!)
Still... Even in my complaint, the voice didn't reply.
As the voice was gone the words it tells to me are still echoing through my head.
Gah... I hate this feeling.
I barely focusing myself on thinking while enduring the pain from my wounds, the cold water surrounding my body, and holding my breath beyond the point where my lungs might explode at any moment.

Stop anything simultaneously and just focus on the first problem!

I stop scratching my head and use both of my hands to cover my ears for it to be away from the waters.
First! Decrease the possibility of dying from drowning!
Closing my eyes stopping the water into coming into my body.
Tightening my nose and mouth for it to be sealed fully.
No ocean's water would go into me!
But even I covered all of my holes the problem from holding my breath is still there.
'I'm about to break!' yell by my lungs.
Sorry, bear it longer!
"Speed-up evolution helps adapts the human body to any environment like your group getting used to living without food or water." I still haven't forgotten what Lucas had said to me.
If it is then I will entrust my body from the so-called speed-up evolution!

*!!!* At that moment I feel one of my lungs died like it was depleted and withered away. I didn't feel any pain but this is something that new to me that I can't describe the feeling properly. Anyway, I feel more heavy after that happened.
I feel that I'm about to die.
My conscious is about to blackout.

And it's pretty big too!
I remove my hands from ears and went straight swimming to the bubble.
The distance between us is so short because it's just in front of me.
Even with that distance, this gigantic bubble is barely visible from the human eyes.
The bubble started sucking me as soon as I touched it.
*huff huff huff huff huff huff huff huff*
It was a hellish experience.
I grasp my right chest as I hold it tightly.
My left chest is expanding and shrinking because I am breathing deeply but my right chest doesn't.
(You're serious?)
I do manage to breathe in this hot air but I feel like it's not enough.
My knees touch the ground falling into a thud and after that my upper body soon also fell to the ground.
My whole body stops functioning as I can't feel anything.
Feeling cold and heavy, my brain is forcing me to fall into a deep slumber.
I tried to resist it as I grit my teeth so hard to feel pain.
But soon after a couple of seconds I can't resist the sleepiness anymore and fall into my forever slumber.
