Chapter 56: BREAK AWAY

Finally, they stopped drugging me. I thought feeling sober would give me peace of mind. But it's worse than being drugged. I feel like my nerves are trembling. My eyes are burning from staying awake all night. I am not able to sleep for even a minute. I need drugs again. I can't live like this. This is worse than having nightmares or hallucinations.

Berna came inside the room and bought me food. " How are you holding up dear?"

" Berna, please give me drugs. I need drugs. I can't sleep a wink at all. Getting hallucinations is better than reality! Please give me drugs."

She patted me gently and said " Shh! Calm down, dear. Everything is going to be fine."

" No. It is not going to be fine. If I don't take drugs, I'll never be fine."

"Jesus Christ!" someone shouted from behind me. Who the hell is this? He was wearing a big cross pendant around his neck. He must be at least sixty years old. Is he a pastor?
