The Wish Seed
Skyworld…
Pit and Jared rush to the door to start the adventure.
"I can't believe Hades was behind the entire Underworld invasion!" Pit said, angrily.
"Yeah." Jared said, sadly. "It's rather crazy."
Pit and Jared leap through the door.
"And he created Medusa to distract everyone! It got to the point that Jared forgot about him!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"What do you think Hades is really after?" Pit asked.
"Something big. He hasn't just overstepped his realm...he's kicked down the door. What I DO know is that Underworld forces have assembled at a volcano nearby. And that's where today's mission is taking us." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Oh, I just put it all together! The Underworld Army is here to steal magma!" Pit said, annoyed.
"And magma is enough to destroy a TARDIS key." Jared said.
"No, Pit, Jared. Hades wants the Wish Seed." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Oh. Of course." Pit said.
Jared's eyes glowed blue and got a vision in his head to see the Wish Seed. It stopped glowing blue and it went back to the brown hue it was before.
"From what I've heard, it grants any single wish. As you might imagine, it's quite sought after." Palutena said, telepathically.
"We could really use two of those! My wish would be to fly by myself!" Pit said, happily.
"My wish would be to be able to change the future for the better!" Jared said, smiling.
"Yes, yes, I'm well aware of that. Anyway…" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Don't change the subject!" Pit said.
"Seriously. Don't!" Jared said.
"Heh heh! The Underworld forces seem to be very interested in the Wish Seed." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Who knows what Hades would wish for if he got it?! It could be a total disaster!" Pit said.
"It really would! His wish could start another Walpurgisnacht or Holy Grail War!" Jared said, looking over at Pit.
"I couldn't agree more. Let's hurry, Pit, Jared. If Hades has entered the game, he's playing to win." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Plus, if anyone deserves wishes, it's me and Jared!" Pit said.
"Hello." Kiara said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared approach a cave.
"Get ready to go into that cave." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared fly through the cave and arrive at a large, highly active pool of lava.
"This is incredible!" Pit said, happily.
"It's amazing." Jared said, smiling.
"Yes, the volcano's guardian puts on quite a show." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Who's the volcano's guardian?" Pit asked.
"The immortal bird who lives there. The Phoenix." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Hmm...so if the Phoenix is protecting the Wish Seed...does that mean he created the Wish Seed too?" Pit asked.
"Kiara, are you protecting the Wish Seed?" Jared asked.
"No. I'm in Austria!" Kiara said, telepathically. "Away from Calli!"
"Right, so it can't be you."
"That reminds me...phoenix eggs make the most divine omelets. Or so I've heard." Palutena said, telepathically.
"I could really go for some KFP right now! Kiara, can I get a Phoenix Burger and a YAGOO burger?" Jared asked.
The Phoenix Burger chicken meat, salad, pineapple, BBQ sauce, onions, tomato, bacon, and mozzarella cheese. The YAGOO burger has two beef patties, salad, pickles, egg, cheddar cheese, secret seiso sauce, and onion rings.
"Only for one of my loyal KFP members." Kiara said, telepathically. "You have to get the Wish Seed."
"Sure. KFP is super good."
"What does THAT have to do with ANYTHING?!" Pit exclaimed.
Palutena sends Pit and Jared through a volcanic ravine.
"How are you holding up there?" Palutena asked, telepathically.
"I'm...very sweaty." Pit said.
"This is like I'm back at Platform One or in Pompeii." Jared said, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"There's an alternate tunnel route that might be cooler." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Oh, good timing!" Pit said, happily.
Palutena flies Pit and Jared out of the ravine.
"But it will take us a little out of our way. I'll let you decide which way to go." Palutena said, telepathically.
Jared is looking at two branching paths right in front of him, as he doesn't know what path to take.
"Veer right to go directly to the volcano or left to go through the tunnel." Palutena said, telepathically.
Jared's eyes glowed blue and he got a vision of the near future.
Jared's mind palace...
If Jared chooses the path to the left.
"Um, I'd say left." Jared said, sadly.
"Let's head into the tunnel." Palutena said, telepathically.
"I hope it's cooler in there!" Pit said.
Palutena sends Pit and Jared into the tunnel.
"Same." Jared said. "I hate burning to a crisp."
"The magma level's rising in here…" Pit said.
"Hopefully it won't rise too fast…" Palutena said, telepathically.
"You jinxed them!" Kiara said, telepathically.
As Pit and Jared try to make their way out, a waterfall of lava pours down, blocking their path.
"Tell me about it." Jared said, sadly. "Augh! There's nowhere to go!"
"Stay calm, Pit, Jared!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Stay calm?! You and Kiara are not the ones who are about to get steamed like dumplings!" Pit said, angrily.
"I said STAY CALM!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"I'm sorry about one of my fellow phoenixes making you do this." Kiara said, telepathically.
Palutena finds an alternate exit and flies Pit and Jared through it.
"It's okay, Kiara." Jared said, letting out a sigh. "I forgot who created that one. You're way better than him."
"Whew. That's a relief." Pit said.
"Pit! Jared! Behind you!" Kiara said, telepathically.
Jared looked behind him to see revealing lava rapidly rising toward him and Pit.
"Huh? Whooooa-oa no, no, please no!" Pit said, terrified.
"This is too soon after the Bells of Saint John!" Jared said, worried.
"Hang on!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Palutena quickly flies Pit and Jared out of the tunnel, and lava shoots out from the exit.
"WHOOOOOOOOOOOA! That was way too close for comfort." Pit said.
"That only works for Kiara. Since she is a phoenix in human form." Jared said, frowning.
"I do turn into a phoenix just to make it to my HoloTalk studio." Kiara said, telepathically.
"No need to get all hot under the collar though, right?" Palutena asked, telepathically.
"You just couldn't resist, could you?" Pit asked.
"Like. Really? This is Kiara's natural habitat!" Jared said, angrily.
Tunnel...
Jared's eyes stopped glowing blue and went back to the brown hue they were before.
"Right is the way to go. The left way has the lava levels rising." Jared said, sadly.
Jared chose the path to the right.
"Going to cut straight through, are you?" Palutena asked, telepathically.
"How hot can it be?" Pit asked.
"I'd say it would have been pretty lit." Jared said, frowning.
A volcano suddenly erupts in the distance.
"Whoa!" Pit said.
Pit and Jared fly by several molten structures, which spew lava in different directions.
"Whew, this is some heat!" Pit said.
"I like heat. But I hate humidity. Especially volcanoes. Pompeii made me not like them." Jared said.
"If it weren't for my power of cooling, the two of you would be burned to a crisp by now! I sometimes forget just how flammable humans and angels are." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Do you think Kanata can survive this?" Jared asked.
"Maybe. Especially since she has a grip strength of 50kg. I think she might be burned to a crisp." Kiara said, telepathically.
"That is true. She would break every single one of us. Along with Palutena's Temple."
Pit and Jared approach the exit of the tunnel path, only to quickly pull back when lava shoots out from it.
"Whooooooa!" Pit said.
"That was a close one. You were right, Jared, the lava levels were rising in that one. Good thing the both of you didn't go through that tunnel." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Yeah, that would've been bad." Pit said.
"Get ready to land soon, Pit, Jared." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Boy, I hope my sandals don't melt."
"The same for my boots." Jared said, looking over at Pit. "I love these red and black ones so much."
"Don't worry. I'll get you two some new ones after this mission." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared fly down to their landing destination.
Phoenix Mountain...
Pit and Jared arrive at Phoenix Mountain and skids to a hault, tipping over the edge.
"Whoa. Whoa whoa whoa. Whoa!" Pit said.
Pit pushes Jared and the two fall over the edge and land on a lower strip of land.
"Ah!" Pit said.
"Palutena! Don't have Pit land on top of me!" Jared said, annoyed.
"Why? Making Jared to cushion my fall. Take it easy, will ya?" Pit asked.
"The Underworld Army has already reached the Phoenix. But they're facing severe resistance." Palutena said, telepathically.
"The Phoenix sounds pretty tough. So if we want the Wish Seed too…" Pit said.
"That's right. You'll have to defeat the Phoenix."
"I was afraid you'd say that."
"Same." Jared said, looking down at his Palutena Bow.
"Don't worry. He's the Phoenix. He'll come back to life." Palutena said, telepathically.
"So what? Kiara came back to life three times within a six month period! And she, um, lost her memory of Calli twice!"
"Don't. Don't remind me…" Kiara said, telepathically.
"That's not exactly what I'm worried about. What I mean to say is...I'm not scared. I'm not scared at all!" Pit said, angrily.
"Saying it twice doesn't make it more convincing." Palutena said, telepathically.
"How about if I say it a third time? I'm not scared at all!"
Pit and Jared walks through a door.
"Well, helloooooo there! Glad to see you made it!" Hades said, telepathically.
"Hades!" Pit said.
"Ugh! What now? What do you want, Hades?" Jared asked.
"Settle down there, Pitty, Flash Gordon. Ladies don't like high-strung fellows. So the 'good guys' covet the Wish Seed too. Tell me, goddess, what do you wish for? Is it all kittens and rainbows, or is it something more...interesting?" Hades asked, telepathically.
"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Thanks so much for asking! I just have one humble, little wish." Hades said, telepathically.
Jared closed his eyes and got an image of a young child crying by two coffins.
"You see this poor child? Both of her parents are dead. Awww...there was an unfortunate accident, if you know what I mean." Hades said, telepathically.
"You mean you murdered them!" Jared said.
"It was a simple case of distracted chariot driving. I shouldn't have been doing my hair. Anyway, I was hoping to use the Wish Seed to bring back the parents." Hades said, telepathically.
Jared closed his eyes and got an image of the same child, with a cake and two zombie parents.
"Can you think of anything more joyous than a family reunion?" Hades asked, telepathically.
Jared closed his eyes and got an image of the child and zombie parents with piles of money.
"Then after that, they'd strike it rich...like, rolling-in-dough rich!" Hades said, telepathically.
Jared closed his eyes and got an image of the child and zombie parents with crowns.
"And then we'd slap crowns on all of them and make 'em royalty! And that's the general gist of my wish. Pretty noble and not at all evil, right? I can't think of anyone MORE deserving of the Wish Seed than yours truly." Hades said, telepathically.
"Let me get this straight. You, the lord of the Underworld, want to revive the dead. That's somewhat at odds with your 'mission statement,' wouldn't you say?" Palutena asked, telepathically.
"Don't tell me the goddess of light hasn't heard of altruism before." Hades said, telepathically.
"What a load of baloney!" Pit said, angrily.
"Did you modify Kureiji Ollie's backstory? Why would you do that?" Jared asked, crossing his arms.
"That does sound like my junior Ollie's backstory. Well, a little bit of it." Kiara said, telepathically.
"My intentions are pure. As lord of the Underworld, you have my word." Hades said, telepathically.
"That just makes me more suspicious." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Same. Like Ollie has been through enough. And her house was turned into a ramen shop twice! Once in the real world and the other in Minecraft!" Jared said, rolling his eyes.
"How cold of you. Your words pierce my heart like an icicle." Hades said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared hop into the Exo Tanks.
Pit and Jared approach a ramp.
"To launch farther in an Exo Tank, tap the boost icon before you jump. The icon's on the bottom screen." Palutena said, telepathically.
Near the area with the Exo Tank, a random conversation or weapon conversation may trigger.
"I watched the April Fools livestream a while back. And it happened before the release of Calli's second EP." Jared said, happily.
"Did you like our new outfits?" Kiara asked, telepathically.
"They were adorable. You and your maracas. And the five of you bouncing around."
"Walfie was amazing designing them."
"At least Gura finally was able to boing boing."
Pit and Jared head into a room with a Remoblam & Remoblamlings.
"As a rule, Remoblamlings will blow up. You can wipe them all out at once by eliminating their leader first." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared take damage from one of the lava geysers.
"Whoa whoa whoa!" Pit said.
"Ow…" Jared said, rubbing the back of his head.
"You have to be careful, Pit, Jared!" Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit hits a switch, causing the statue he's standing on with Jared to slide downwards.
"Umph!" Pit said.
"Now that the statue has settled into the lava, I don't think it'll budge." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Well, I wouldn't either if I was soaking in a nice hot bath." Pit said.
"I could do with one of those later." Jared said, happily.
"Want to have it at my place?" Kiara asked, telepathically.
"In Austria? Sure. Maybe after this. Once we get some KFP of course."
Pit and Jared exits the room and encounters a Guttler.
"Well, look at that. It's an Underworld Guttler." Palutena said, telepathically.
"So, what's its deal?" Pit asked.
"It gobbles up friends and foes alike, getting extremely strong in the process."
"It eats its friends to get stronger? Sheesh. Talk about a monster!"
"More like, talk about a Witch or a Familiar!" Jared said, crossing his arms. "Which is basically the same thing."
"And its strength grows with every bite it takes, so if you see one, defeat it quickly." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared enter the Hot Spring room.
"Look, Pit, Jared! A hot spring!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Score! Who's got two thumbs and loves hot springs?! Everyone with two thumbs!" Pit said, excitedly.
"Pit, no wonder you're one of my best friends. You're as cool as Sayaka." Jared said, happily. "I do love a hot spring too."
Pit and Jared take an elevator upwards.
"Oh, Palutena! Pretty Paluteeeena! Can you hear me?" Hades asked, telepathically.
"Of course I can hear you." Palutena said, telepathically.
"You never told me your wish. Even after I bared my very soul to you!"
"Right. Your wish? I don't buy it. In fact, it makes me doubt this entire story. Answer me this: does the Wish Seed even have the power to grant wishes?"
"You're a sharp one. How'd you guess?"
"What?! Are you serious? The Wish Seed is a fake?" Pit asked.
"It isn't the Holy Grail or an Incubator." Kiara said, telepathically.
"Tell me about it." Jared said, frowning.
"It's so obvious to me now. I mean, the idea of a Wish Seed is pretty far fetched. An item like that could make anyone more powerful than the gods. Especially since the Holy Grail and making a contract with an Incubator is a one time use." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Dang. I was totally gonna be like, 'I wish for...a kazillion wishes!'" Pit said.
"Same. I was gonna abuse the hell of it. Mostly for the greater good." Jared said, looking over at Pit.
"Wait...if the Wish Seed doesn't work, why's the Underworld Army going after it?"
"To make everyone...us included...believe that it's real." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Can't get anything past ol' Professor Palutena, now can I? If there's one thing you can predict about humans, it's their greed. It's physically impossible for humans to resist the lure of a wish-granting item. The Holy Grail and the Incubators that make contracts with human girls are clear signs of it." Hades said, telepathically.
"And since they can't get the Wish Seed from the Phoenix to see it's a fake...you need them to THINK that someone has made off with it." Palutena said, telepathically.
"At which point, they'll drive themselves to extinction battling for it. And that's good for my business. An ingenious plan, if I do say so myself." Hades said, telepathically.
"Which explains why Holy Grail Wars happen in Fuyuki City every sixty years and what happened in the battle against Walpurgisnacht and Eve in Kamihama City." Jared said.
"But the Phoenix himself could wipe out humanity if the Underworld sets him loose." Pit said.
"You're right. We have no choice but to defeat him. We've fallen right into Hades's trap." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Flattery will get you nowhere, my dear! Actually, scratch that. It'll get you a hot date with the Phoenix. Ciao." Hades said, telepathically.
Near the door leading to the room with the Suit of Skuttler, a random conversation or weapon conversation may trigger.
"Kiara, remember that time you sang the theme song to Madoka Magica?" Jared asked.
"Yeah. I do." Kiara said, telepathically.
"I loved how you sang it with Nene three times."
"The first time, we both didn't know we were singing it at the same time. In our separate karaoke streams."
"But it still made for amazing side by side videos."
"When you two disconnected while doing your first karaoke collaboration as you were singing the song, I laughed a bit. But the final time without any disconnecting, I cried a lot."
Pit and Jared heads through a room and back outside.
"Even though Hades was behind this plan, the Phoenix won't be happy to see you." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit approaches a large ditch with several floating platforms.
"You can get across these rocks by jumping." Palutena said, telepathically.
"OK. We just dash up to the edge to jump, right?" Pit asked.
Pit and Jared enter the level 4 Intensity Gate. They arrive at the upper level of the previous Hot Spring room.
"Yessss! It's hot-spring time!" Pit said, excitedly.
"More hot springs!" Jared said, happily.
"It seems that there are hot springs on the upper and lower levels." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Nothing brightens the complexion like a mineral spring. And lava." Hades said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared approach a large platform.
"The Phoenix is up ahead." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Go die now!" Hades said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared arrives on the platform and notices the Wish Seed.
"The Wish Seed looks real enough…" Pit said.
"Yup." Jared said, frowning.
Pit and Jared perks up as they notice something in the distance.
"The Phoenix!" Pit said.
"Kiara, I really am sorry about having to do this." Jared said.
The Phoenix crashes down in the form of a fiery ball and screeches at Pit and Jared.
"It's okay. You're only killing one of my siblings." Kiara said, telepathically.
"He's not going to let you go without a fight!" Palutena said, telepathically.
The battle initiates.
"So I should go ahead and attack him?" Pit asked.
"Do I really have to fight him?" Jared asked. "He's one of Kiara's brothers!"
"You have no choice. Unless you want to be flambéed. The Phoenix is cranky after fighting the Underworld forces. Who knows what he's capable of? You need to stop him." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Oh, I WILL!" Pit said, angrily.
"You can use the jump pad for attacking and dodging too. Not to micromanage you or anything." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Kiara, will you hate me for this?" Jared asked.
"No. I can't. You, um, Calli told me what happened." Kiara said, telepathically.
"I'm sorry about that too."
"It's okay. I'll forgive you. Maybe."
"When the Phoenix is circling overhead, try leading your shots." Palutena said, telepathically.
"So, shoot in front of him?" Pit asked.
"Right. Your shots will take awhile to land, so shoot where the target's going to be."
"Considering his size, he's not that easy to hit!"
"No need to panic. You just need to wait for an opening."
Jared's eyes glowed blue and he got a vision of the near future.
Jared's mind palace...
If Pit and Jared destroy the Wish Seed.
"Yeah!" Pit said.
"Now no one can make stupid wishes." Jared said, happily.
"You broke my toy!" Hades said, telepathically.
"It was only a bomb anyway." Palutena said, telepathically.
Phoenix Mountain…
Jared's eyes stopped glowing blue and they went back to the brown hue they were before.
Pit and Jared knock down the Phoenix.
"He's down!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"Now's our chance!" Pit said.
"Let's do this, Pit!" Jared said, smiling.
Pit and Jared defeat the Phoenix.
"Phoenix extinguished!" Pit said.
"And that's that." Jared said, happily.
"I'll have a nice, cold drink waiting for the both of you when you get back." Palutena said, telepathically.
Epilogue…
The Phoenix falls to the floor and explodes, leaving a fiery beacon in its place. Jared's eyes glowed blue and he got a vision of the near future.
Jared's mind palace...
If Pit and Jared destroyed the Wish Seed during the boss battle.
"Now everyone will know the Wish Seed was a fake!" Pit said, angrily.
"Yup. That's the bad thing." Jared said, letting out a sigh.
"No no no. That beacon shows the world that the Phoenix has been defeated! Which will only make the humans believe that someone has taken the Wish Seed." Hades said, telepathically.
Phoenix Mountain…
Jared's eyes stopped glowing blue and it went back to the brown hue it was before. Pit and Jared didn't destroy the Wish Seed during the boss battle.
"Quickly, Pit, Jared! Destroy the Wish Seed!" Palutena said, telepathically.
"On it!" Pit said.
"Let's do this, Pit!" Jared said, looking over at Pit.
Pit and Jared notice a Magmoo and Skuttler Mage grab hold of the Wish Seed.
"...wait, get away!" Pit said.
The Magmoo and Skuttler Mage hit the Wish Seed a few times, causing it to explode.
"It just blew up! Well, that proves it's a fake." Pit said.
"Yup. It's as fake as virtual worlds." Jared said
"Oh, please! The beacon tells the humans of the Phoenix's defeat. And that will make them think that someone has taken the Wish Seed. Now I'll just give them a little nudge. People of the world, the Wish Seed has been liberated! This is your chance to fulfill your wildest dreams! All you have to do is conquer anyone in your way!" Hades said, telepathically.
"The people will NOT be so easily deceived!" Pit said.
"They really won't." Jared said.
"I wish that were true, but I foresee major bloodshed." Palutena said, telepathically.
A light shines down over Pit and Jared.
"This is all my fault." Palutena said, telepathically.
Palutena whisks Pit and Jared away.
