Chapter 61: soldiers

we have been running for hours, it started to get dark a while ago but now its got near impossible to see, sam has been keeping us moving he wanted to make it to the other side of the lake but has finally had to admit defeat "ok, we will rest here tonight, no setting up separate camps I want us all together and we leave at first light, Simon you take first watch" he says tiredly .we all spend the night huddled together for warmth,im so tired all I want to do is sleep but Blake keeps entering my mind, I wonder if he's ok, what happened after I left, god I miss him. Simon, sam and danlow take it in turns keeping watch.                                                                                       It's just before dawn that a twig snapping jerks me away, I look up and see sam looking directly at me, he heard it too and is obviously just as spooked as me because he's shaking everyone awake and whispering "come on its time to move and I want silence then he comes to me "Lissa do you have a weapon?" "erm just the two knifes i hide in my boots ,i lost my hunters knife " just then i get a shock "hum Lissa " i look up to see Ellie "yeah" "well you know the present on your bed from Blake? i look at her confused "yeah" "well it was me , iv been helping him to make sure your alright " "what ? " im not sure weather to be mad or not but before i can decide she says "look we haven't got time ,im supposed to give you this when you are in danger and alone ,but i guess we can trust sam " then she hold out her hands to reveal a velvet box just like all the others that contained gifts from Blake, i grab it and pull it open to reveals a hair pin its a heart with three dangling hearts that say MY HEARTS YOURS just like the necklass,braclet and earrings he gave me ,i look at it confused as to why he would think a hair pin would help me ,until Ellie takes it from me and shows me how to twist it to reveal a small blade then she twists it back together before pinning it into my hair as she does so she says "Blake said to tell you that you had to keep it in at all times , i feel a lump in my throat as i nod  then Sam says come on we don't have time lets go and Lissa take this " and he hands me another hunters knife ,then we set off.
