Chapter 49: Chapter 46: A Simple Conversation [Eunice]
"Hey uh..I have something I wanna ask you..in private." Eunice nervously looked at Leon, as he looked around before nodding.
"Alright now I know that I'm incredibly good looking and super charismatic, but I can't go out with you-" Leon was flicked in the forehead before he could finish, "I'm not asking you out, you big doofus. I just want to talk, you know since…well I don't know..you know…"
"I don't, but I'll pretend I do, so keep going."
"I'm just feeling weird about leaving in 2 days…wait what, why wouldn't you date me?"
"W-Well you see you're not my type and you know it'd be weird to go out while in the same party--no wait get away from me with that scythe!" She chased him for a minute before things calmed down.
"Sorry about that, but I can't stop thinking about how I…how Valor might not be ready to go out again. You know, on an adventure." Leon's brain seemed to take a few seconds to process before finally reaching a conclusion.
"Yes…I see well Valor shouldn't be too worried especially since he's really strong. We've seen his efforts and he's been working hard to keep up and surpass his previous self." Eunice wasn't convinced, so she just looked up at the sky before continuing, "Yeah, but maybe Valor's feeling like he's inadequate. Maybe he's just barely holding it together because he feels as if he can't protect everyone."
"Well he's done a hell of a job up until now hasn't he? I mean he's gotten way stronger since then, but it won't get easier from here. It'll only get harder, as we take on more challenges. I mean I bet if the current us went to that dungeon we'd clear it way more easily." When the words left Leon's mouth they both remembered another time they had failed to protect.
"...yeah Valor really stole that win…you think he ever regrets it? I mean he saved all of us….never tell him I said that by the way.." Leon chuckled a bit.
"Doubt it, he's a little too..as gentle as possible but he dumb son." Eunice let out a small smile before sighing.
"Yeah if he can do that, then so can I."
"No, remember he isn't allowed to do that and neither are you."
"Yeah alright, but promise me two things."
"Sure."
"If I ever go that far, I want you to stop me. I also want you to promise me you'll help me stop him if he ever tries that, or stop any of them." Leon nodded before sticking his pinky out.
"It's a pinky promise!"
