Chapter 44: Chapter 43: Understanding [Leon]
Leon was finally relaxing in a hot spring, as he managed to convince Daisy and Eunice to go…only he had to go alone. Valor was who knows where right now. He just separated from the group abruptly earlier and disappeared without a trace. Leon felt like he had enough, as he left to get dressed. He continued on until he realized he found himself in a forest again. He turned around to see his summons standing before him. His two silver wolves, his scouting falcon, and the Chimera stared him down.
"I don't remember summoning any of you? Did you all miss me?" He laughed, as the Chimera appeared before him breathing down in front of him.
[You're weak now! You don't deserve to be our master!]
"What the hell are you talking about?" Leon asked, both his black eyes gaining white slits.
[You reject your true nature and reject yourself because of-]
"I dare you to finish that sentence." His cold gaze stopped the Chimera's 'speaking', as he failed to notice the white fur growing on his arm. He snarled a bit, as his teeth sharpened.
[You're rejecting yourself. How can we trust you to make the right call if you can't even trust yourself?]
[What Chimera said!]
[You haven't shown us that you are reliable.]
"Enough! You're my summons so-" Leon stopped mid-sentence, as he saw a puddle where his current face was being reflected on. He clenched his fist, as he viewed the reflection. One that showed his father's attributes with his mother's anger. This only served to fuel his rage. He looked up, as the fur grew more on his body before completely covering chest and feet. His teeth sharpened, as his hands gained claws that cut up the tree Leon was gripping. He snarled up at his summons with a face full of contempt.
"Listen here you're my summons! Which means that you listen to my commands and you follow them without question!"
[Do you honestly believe we'll follow a master so weak that he can't even defeat a measly old man?]
"You all weren't helpful either in that fight. I remember you just getting thrown around all over the place while Valor and everyone else got stabbed! How the fuck were you of any help?!" The events still weighed heavily on his mind, as he punched the tree with his enhanced physique.
[You think toppling a tree is any indication of your reliability? You'd sooner push your own comrade over an abyss, then talk it out with them beforehand. What was it that Valor did to save you all and what is it you did that almost killed him?]
"I-I did that to pass the trial. He…he forgave me for it?"
[Oh really? Then tell me how did that all end up for your parents? Did they end up forgiving each other after the betrayal?]
"I….they…Valor isn't like that. He wouldn't…he couldn't…how do you even know that?"
[We see everything you see and have seen your memories. We're more connected than you know which is why if you're weak, we feel it. Our connection makes us stronger, but it can also make us weaker. Right now that connection is fragmented because our so-called master is in denial of himself. It's shameful that the master who managed to tame me completely can't even accept himself or his failures. I don't even see a trace of the person who tamed me anymore.]
The words hit all the right coords. Leon knew that his summons were correct and that he had drastically changed from before. It may have been a subtle type of change, but it was blatantly apparent now when faced with all the facts. He took a breath and nodded. He simply nodded, "You're absolutely right. I am rejecting it because I'm afraid…afraid that when I show myself like this I might end up being the one who gets tossed aside."

"But I got to accept it slowly…so don't you worry I've got this." He smiled confidently, as his summons returned to him. Leon walked back to the inn they were staying at and when he returned he found Valor walking the same way. He still had some white fur on his arms, but Valor didn't even care and talked to him like normal.
