Chapter 32: Chapter 31: Ranking? [Valor]
"Hey, I've been thinking...what if we get our ranks evaluated so we can take on more missions." Jay suggested to the group.
"That does make sense. I do like money and growing stronger."
"I wonder if I'm the strongest…" Valor boldly declared, "Wanna test it out?"
"No ma'am!" Valor had taken to calling Daisy ma'am after the...incident. Valor was back to his healthy self, as they made their way over. The people there were...interesting to say the least. They were rowdy and overall really inviting.
"Come on! The receptionist will help you get clearance for the examination."
"Oh thank you!" Valor said, as he walked over.
"They seem way too nice." Leon commented.
"Hello there, how may I help you?" The receptionist was a beautiful woman with her black hair in a bun and glasses.
"...a date with you or any of your relatives around my age?" Valor let the words loose on accident.
"No problem, her name is Kaya, she's my daughter. I'll let her know since you're so handsome." She smiled and the light completely blinded the party.
'Holy shit that actually worked.'
"Um ignoring that..we actually want to take the rank examination."
"First-timers?" They all nodded, "Okay, so fill out these forms and once you're done come back so I can tell you what to do next."
"Okay, let's sit over here." Jay ushered them to some seats.
"Class, age, level, stats, and allergies?" Eunice questioned.
"Okay done!" Valor showed Jay his form to which he nodded, "You forgot your last name, but aside from that you're fine." Jay commented.
'Shit...let's fill this out quickly then.' Valor thought to himself.
"Hey..uh I wrote down my last name, but can you keep it a secret?" She smiled at Valor before her expression turned to one of shock.
"I...uh...I didn't know you-"
"No, it's fine, I don't want anyone to know. Can you keep it under wraps please?"
"Yes of course...and I'm sorry for your losses." Valor was about to say something before just nodding and waiting for the rest. It didn't take long.
"Come this way. Due to your classes being different, you will have to be separated since each class has a separate examination."
"Guess that makes sense. I'll see you all later." Eunice said, as she made her way to the Assassin Class Examination. Everyone went their own ways, as Valor found himself surrounded by people who were also sword wielders. Valor stayed quiet and just waited until he was called up. The first test was magic power and control.
"You need precise control of your Mana to slice your opponents. As I'm sure you all know, Mana infused slashes do drastically more damage than slashes performed without Mana." The orb would show how much Mana was being leaked out as well as how pure it was alongside the quantity. Valor went up and everyone seemed surprised when the Mana stayed mostly in the orb, or it might have been how pure the Mana was and how much there was of it. His Mana stat is 21 currently.
"Wow this Mana purity rivals the-:
"Could be charged for treason with those next words."
"You pass this stage with an S ranking in Control and Quantity. You have a lot of potential." Valor thanked the man before continuing on to the next section. It was a simple puzzle solving test which he passed with an A ranking. The final test was practical fighting which was composed of two parts; fighting with monsters and fighting with people. Valor went in against the orc.
'The skin's tough, but the pattern is really easy. I win! Now onto the hard part. It's not about winning, but I'm not willing to lose that easily.' Valor got into his stance, as an older gentleman got into his. They face off, the sound of their swords clashing was the only thing heard. The skillful flick of Valor's wrist, as he twisted his waist to deliver a horizontal slash before having his pushed pushed down by his opponent who evaded into the air using his head as a spring board. Valor predicted that his opponent would go behind him which he did. He decided to use this opportunity to sweep the legs which ended in his victory.
"It was a good match." Valor's opponent shook his hand, "Yeah and here I thought I'd finally be able to beat you after all these years, Valor. You weren't called the Roughest Diamond for nothing."
"You got the wrong guy." Valor left, but caught a glimpse of his hollow expression.
"Congratulations, you have been evaluated as an S Rank talent with your current rank being Bronze." She gave him a bronze medal before telling him to wait a bit. The receptionist held up a piece of paper and a photo. The paper had the ranking and the photo was of her daughter
'Wow she's beautiful.'
