Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Dungeon Entrance [Jay]

Night began to set in as the group finished packing all that they needed for their next adventure. The group decided to stay for anothor night before heading out.

Jay was the first to get up that morning. He decided to order something rather than attempt to make something himself this early in the morning. Eunice woke up after them and it was strange as the two didn't talk much together.

The two of them sat at the empty bar tavern waiting for the rest of the group. Eunice sat back juggling her knives in boredom. Jay on the other hand quietly just watched her do this.

The silence was finally broken when Jay decided to ask, "So... Where did you learn to do that?"

After waiting a few seconds Eunice said, "My teacher, who else?"

Jay quietly said, "Well yeah of course, but… ahh never mind."

"Well how did you learn to use magic? With your current skill level you gotta have learned from a god or another mage."

"Not really… I have some memory lost… There's a possibility I'm binded to a god, but I don't know."

"Really?... You just instinctively used magic?"

"Uhh… Yep"

"How old are you? How am I not sure you're using illusion magic to make you look younger?!"

"No one can use magic for that long and I've counted about 3 years since I woke up with no memory."

"Don't you ever want to know where you came from? What is your family doing?"

Jay stayed silent thinking back to when he had woken up in that village half buried by rubble. Injured he left the town behind, whatever he had done there or whatever happened he never wanted to look back.

"No… I don't want to know."

"Wow… heartless much?"

"I just don't particularly care. I'm living life now, no point in worrying about the past. "

"I guess."

The conversation began to die down as the rest of the group began to come down one at a time.

"I hope we don't die," were Jay's thoughts as they all left and began to travel to the dungeon."

They traveled to an isolated mountain area and at the base of a higher cliff there was a small tunnel that the group could travel through.

    "So this is the place?"

    "Guess so?" Jay said unsure.

"Our carriage isn't going to fit and our horses might be forced to stay out here without food. Are we willing to risk that?" Davis asked.

"I'll leave out some food for the animals," Leon said as they began their descent down into the mountain. Jay lit a small torch with his magic and gave it to Kai as he led the descent. The group traveled in mainly silence until they found light at the end of the tunnel only to be met with a snow covered landscape.

"Wow… are you sure this place isn't man-made?" Daisy said in astonishment.

Jay looked around and simply replied with, "Nope… this place has got to be magical in nature wouldn't make any sense if it wasn't."

The room was rather well lit, but Jay was beginning to feel much colder and it seemed like everyone else was feeling the same. The fire wasn't bringing them much comfort as even when Valor attempted to touch the fire it still remained cold.

"We've gotta get out of here… or do whatever it wants us to quickly." Leon said as he continued to move forward.

The party with no other option decided to continue to go forward.
