Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Exhaustion [Valor]
"Fuck I'm really exhausted and these body parts are flying at us!" Valor complained like a child, while trying dodging to no avail. His new exhaustion was going to be weighing him down. There was a strange mist flowing below them.
"You know it's not easy to move and carry your Valor!" Kai got slapped by one of the hands before something pierced his ankle.
"Drop me then! I can move on my own just fine!" That was a lie. He could not in fact move on his own and would most likely faint in the mist.
Soon the mist that had escaped from the ball began to extend around them. Everyone panicked and began to escape the mist. Kai and Leon went to reluctantly pick up Val to take him to safety. Everyone began to cover their mouth and nose so they wouldn't breath in whatever the black mist was.
From the mist came off multiple blasts of elemental spells. Ice covered roofs, houses were destroyed, plants caught on fire, and the town was basically destroyed.
"Well it seems that this whole town is in ruins. Is this our fault, Jay?"
"Technically it's the demon's fault we did nothing wrong. We tried to defeat the demon"
"Yeah, but if we didn't kill it then the town wouldn't be as messed up." Valor argued back, since the town had practically become a war zone.
Jay seemed to open up his mouth to answer, but the mist seemed to move towards them casting another onslaught of spells. Jay used multiple earth spells to shield them from the damage.
"GUYS WE NEED A PLAN!"
"Dodge and try not to die seems to be the most we'll be able to do right now. Got any wind spells in you, pal? Because I'm not sure how to combat mist. You can't exactly cut it with a sword." The mist seemed to be looking for them only, as if it had sentience and only really cared about killing them. The multiple spells hitting the earth walls caused cracks to appear. Valor pondered on what he can do, 'There's still that, but I'm way too tired to use more than one.'
Valor's eyes went to Leon, "Any useful summons?"
"Uhh.. one?" he said, as he began to prepare to summon something that could hopefully help them get out of this situation.
"How long is this going to take?"
Leon simply shrugged as a response. Jay was beginning to tire however, as he began to visibly weaken. His face began to pale, and seeing this Daisy decided to take his place in creating a shield by using plants anywhere she could find.
"Damnit, are we really relying on 1 ability/summon?!" Daisy exclaimed.
"We don't really have a choice." Valor bit his hand to get some of the exhaustion out of his system, but it only alleviated it a bit. He was not enjoying being so weakened despite how cool he felt in the moment.
"Jay recharge for a bit. While I try to tank the incoming damage." Kai said. Davis prepared his arrows for fire while Valor shakily stood with his sword in hand.
"No, better time to surpass my past self, then right now. This hurts like hell still." Valor clutched his right leg, and left arm that was currently holding his sword.
Daisy let down her shield almost out of mana and everyone else ran out with whatever resolve and fight they had left in them. The mist shot more spells at them, only for most of them to be blocked by Kai while the other ones missed. There was one earth spell that cut Valor's cheek, but that was the extent of the damage.
Daisy stood behind to provide healing, but that would take some time since her mana had been completely depleted, or at least that seemed to be the case from Valor's perspective. Davis stood behind to provide cover fire while Eunice and Valor stood behind Kai. They all didn't seem to be sure what they could do against mist. The elemental spells kept coming their way, but at a higher accuracy than before.
Leon with a heavy and tired sigh, fell backwards onto his back, as the large chimera they had fought from before absorbed Jay casted a wind spell to bring the mist together and with one fell swoop the chimera seemingly ate or absorbed the mist. The whole party let out a cry of relief as they all began to attempt to get out of this cursed town.
"FUCK YEAH!" Valor yelled at the sky.
